I suddenly became the villain and I liked it

Sylvia’s day off

Sylvia's POV

Every Sunday is my day off. I do not really know what to do but I was advised by the head maid to at least go outside of the estate. I already know the reason. Every Sunday is where the mistress makes plans for the schemes of her father. Anything not urgent or important will be reported to her by the head maid and then decisions will be made about other things. I’m not really sure if it’s a good or bad thing that she doesn’t involve me in those things.

“One coffee please.”

Every Sunday I have coffee in this café and just sit on the balcony watching the city. These people believe that the master is a kind and virtuous man but I have seen him for what he truly is. I still remember the day that I met the mistress.

“Please, just take me! Leave my family alone!

Publicly, dad “sold” us to Duke Eterna. The duke was the one who gave a massive debt to dad. Apparently, it was a grand plan because he wanted me. Me! The duke wanted me so he pushed our family to debt and then “bought” us. I felt fear, I was scared. What does a man who would do such a thing want with me? I was just someone who had some magic after all. Then, I heard that voice.

“Father, you have summoned me.”

It was a beautiful voice like an angel, one that made all my fear go away. It was like an oasis within the desert. Until I understood what she said. Father? She was this man’s daughter? The angel turned out to be a Fallen Angel as she approached us.

“Good, you are here. This is my first test for you. Fail and you suffer as your mother.”

A test? What is he talking about? The man just ignored dad as he begged for us. I couldn’t even move or speak as I was tied up and gagged.

“Take this sword and kill him”

Silence. Even my dad who was begging looked in horror.

“How could you make your child do that!?”

Dad was angry, he tried to move, to attack but the man just hit him as he dropped to the ground.

“Did you hear me?”

The man looked at the fallen angel again. She shook as she held the sword in her hands.

“Look, he is not resisting. Just bring the sword down. You do not even need to exert force. Just let it drop on his head.”

The man dragged the fallen angel and position the sword near his head. I thrashed about and tried to move but the man looked at me. I was afraid. I could not move my body.

The fallen angel was shaking. She was breathing a lot. I tried to get her attention, I tried to stop her but the man was there and with two words it all ended.

“Do it.”

My eyes hurt as I watched my dad dying. Tears flowed from my face as I cried in silence. The sword fell from her hands as the fallen angel cried. Her silent tears broken by the man once again.

“You still have a lot to learn. It’s not yet over. There are two more to kill.”

My face paled as I understood who he meant. I no longer cared about my fear, I desperately moved my body. The fallen angel and her father looked at me as I felt something within my body. A power that my dad was so proud of. Why now? Why only appear when he is already gone? I tore through the restraints, destroyed the gag as I launched myself towards the man.

“Amazing, this is true power.”

But I was too weak, he slammed me on the floor and stepped on my head.

“You are worthy to serve as the guardian of my daughter.”

I tried to move, to get up, to resist this man somehow until I heard her voice again.

“Father.”

Her voice cracked as she cried. The pressure on my head was gone and I sat up. I looked at her amethyst eyes.

“Is she going to be mine?”

I kept staring at those eyes as she looked down on me.

“Yes. You have no power so you need to use someone with power.”

The man’s voice no longer mattered to me as I stared at those eyes.

“Then, let us keep those two. If she dares to disobey, then we kill them.”

I understood. This was the point of no return.

“That’s how the daughter of Duke Eterna must think.”

And ever since that day, I have been with the mistress. Once a year, I could meet with my family. I was not allowed to say anything related to the mistress. That was how I lived my days as the guardian of the mistress. Our society was one ruled with magic. I was the one who used magic for the mistress. The mistress does not speak to me, she always has a neutral expression on her face. I was only a maid that followed my orders but things have changed.

“Good. You see, I have been feeling a bit restless. I feel like I need to do something new.”

I remembered those words. It was the very first time that my mistress smiled. She hit me then she made me lick her hand. It was truly surprising. As I returned to the estate, the head maid called for me.

“Milady has declared that you will be enrolled in the school with her.”

A shocking revelation. Me? Getting to attend school?

“That is not all. You have been enrolled as a noble and as we cannot use your previous name.”

Noble? Me?

“You will be enrolled as Sylvia Eterna, do not embarrass your mistress’s name.”

Sylvia Eterna? The same last name as the fallen angel that killed my father? The daughter of the man who destroyed my family? The one who has mom and sis?

“Do you understand?”

I’m supposed to hate her, to despise her, to loathe her. So, why do I feel so happy?
