I suddenly became the villain and I liked it

The first month was like a tutorial. It was full of introductions to certain characters and game mechanics. The villain, me will only appear at the second month. Each protagonist will only be around their classes before that. The prince would mostly spend time with his boy band. By that I mean his group of friends. There are four of them and they are always together. Of course, the other three are available as romantic interests. There were 3 other females who were available but I will think about them if I interact with them.

“Mistress, the introductions are done.”

My maid whispers to me as I open my eyes. I see the teacher looking at me but I will deal with her when the time comes. I do look forward to it as she is beautiful. The teacher started talking but I chose to ignore her. For the female protagonist side, there were only one male and one female available as a romantic interest. Most of the commoners were not that interesting.

“Does anyone have any questions?”

The teacher asks as some students raise their hands. The activities during the first month were either increasing points with romance or improving yourself. For the female protagonist, she will always focus on improving herself. Her distrust of people prevents her from interacting with other people within the first month. It is the opposite for the male protagonist. Since they are a noble and a prince, they are obliged to interact with the nobles. Although, only two of the female romantic interests are available in the first month.

“Then, class is dismissed. We shall have our regular classes starting tomorrow.”

The teacher glared at me as she left the room. Did she notice that I was not listening? Let us wait for her to confront us about it if she wishes to.

“Mistress, what do we do now?”

“We wait. There is something I need to take care of.”

This was an event not shown in the game but it is something I need to do. The game featured a clique of the villain. It was a group of 8 people who followed the villain. They were used to harass the female protagonist. So, let us wait.

“Mistress, it is only us left.”

There were no other students in sight. I see. So, that is how it is. I get how the clique was created now. I would need to wait for the second month to verify that information. For now, though, there is still one person left to confirm.

“I know you are there. Reveal yourself.”

My maid looks around in confusion. There was no one in the classroom after all. At least, no one that can be seen. From the shadows, a petite figure appears. She has black hair with the bob cut hairstyle.

“Who are you?”

My maid readies herself as an unfamiliar figure appears.

“No need to worry, my maid. She does not pose any harm.”

My maid lowers her guard as I stare at this girl waiting for her to say something.

“My name is Melanie Vermillion, Miss Eterna. I have chosen to talk to you for a favor.”

Hmm, her speech has some way to go but as she is cute. I will let her off.

“I will allow you to speak informally.”

“Thank you, miss Eterna.”

“I will also allow you to use my first name provided that you use the proper honorific.”

I can see some hesitation in her eyes. I stare at her.

“I understand, miss Athena.”

“Good. As you are the first person brave enough to speak to me. I shall give you the privilege of listening to your request.”

“Th-thank you, miss Athena.”

She bows as I stare at her.

“I hope to be under your protection.”

She bows once again.

“You do know who I am?”

“Yes, miss Athena. The only daughter of Duke Eterna.”

“And you still wish to be under me? Do you know my reputation?”

“Y-yes. Rumors say that you are selfish, cruel, and wicked. Unlike your father who is kind, giving, and forgiving.”

“State your reason.”

“My standing is bad and I want to protect myself.”

“So, you wish for me to protect you? You do understand that if I accept you will be my underling?”

I could see her quiver.

“Y-yes. I have already resolved myself before I approached you.”

Melanie Vermillion is a first-generation baron. That means their family was previously commoners but due to an achievement, her family was given the title of baron. Of course, for the nobles this is not pleasant news. Even now there is difference in treatment between nobles and commoners. A plot point that will be tackled after my death. So, it is something that I do not care about. Only the royal family is above ours after all, whether it is commoners or other nobles they are all beneath me.

“Then, Melanie Vermillion this is an offer only to you. Between you and I, if you truly wish to be my underling. Kneel and kiss my hand.”

I extend my hand towards her waiting for her to act. In the game, Melanie Vermillion becomes available during the second month. She appears the same time as the villain as a member of her clique. Depending on your actions as the male protagonist, you can reduce the number of members in the villain’s clique by two. Both of those are the other romantic interests and if you achieve at least friendly status with them, they do not become part of the villain’s group.

“I accept, miss Athena.”

Melanie Vermillion kneels and kisses my hand. This is canon, no matter what you do. Melanie Vermillion will always stand by the villain in the beginning. This is an act of self-preservation after all. She needs someone of strong enough backing to ensure that she will not be bullied during her time in the school.

“From now on, you will follow my orders. Follow me to the principal, there are some changes that needs to be done.”

I do not know if the me in the game did this but I shall add her to my private dorm.
