Chapter 460: 460 Record of Ragnarok: The Strongest Sorcerer, The Power of the Sea God, The Fear of Hermes and The Curse of Power.
The sky had white clouds that adorned the vast and silent metropolis. This city was the stage prepared for the battle between Gojo, the strongest sorcerer, and Poseidon, the god of the sea.
Everyone knows Poseidon; even if you have no knowledge of the Record of Ragnarok, you will have heard of him. But, who was Satoru Gojo?
He came from the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, a world where beings called curses, born from negative emotions, threatened the lives of people. As in any world with similar dangers, some faced these curses, known as Jujutsu-shi (Sorcerers of Jujutsu or simply Sorcerers). Each of them possessed different techniques, ranging from simple ones capable of freezing and burning to others capable of turning words into power, teleporting, manipulating gravity, light, luck, or even altering reality.
Curses had the freedom to kill people due to their power, while at the same time, they were constantly hunted by the sorcerers. It was an endless battle because no matter how many curses were eliminated, more would always be born. In that world, as long as humanity existed, curses would exist. This reached a fragile equilibrium, forcing the sorcerers to accept the existence of curses as something that couldn't be eliminated.
However, one day, all of that changed...
Among the sorcerers, some families had raised powerful sorcerers within their lineage. One day, a child was born who, with just his birth, altered the balance of the world.
His power was so great because he was born with one of the most powerful techniques, called "Limitless", and eyes capable of taking that technique to an unimaginable level, "The Six Eyes."
With his very existence, curses changed their habits. They stopped killing indiscriminately, hid, and feared for their lives. Born with infinity, Satoru Gojo had become a monster even for the monsters.
However, nothing is invincible. One day, he met the one who was said to be the strongest sorcerer of all history, Ryomen Sukuna. Their battle went down in history, but as always, there was a winner and a loser, and it was Satoru Gojo who ended up on the ground, split in half.
Allen summoned his soul to the battlefield once again. He did this to give him the chance to recover his lost honor. No, that's not it. Allen simply wanted to thank him. The infinite, red, blue, and purple had been essential parts of his strength. Thanks to them, he was still alive, and that's why Allen respected Gojo.
...
Before the explosion of purple could finish, it was cut in half. The trident shone with the sea at its back. Satoru Gojo was not surprised that one of his strongest attacks was cut in half; instead, the words Allen said to him came to his mind.
– "Gojo-sensei... gods have divine weapons, so you must keep that in mind when facing him." –
That's right Gojo was aware that his opponent was a god, a real one. Gojo raised his right hand and created a red-colored sphere.
"Cursed Technique Reversal: Red"
Gojo fired the sphere, which disintegrated everything in its path. Poseidon's eyes widened in response to the danger, and in an almost instant movement, he intercepted the attack with his trident. If it had been made of steel, it would have been destroyed upon receiving the cursed energy sphere, but it was a divine weapon, the famous trident of the ruler of the seas.
The red was also cut off, but not before pushing back the Poseidon.
"Can it cut cursed energy directly?" Gojo won't lie, he was impressed at how easy it was for Poseidon to counter his attacks.
Poseidon could feel his trident vibrating from the force of the previous attack. Gojo's sorcery took Poseidon by surprise. This kind of power; could humans really do something like this?
Everyone wondered the same thing, but that didn't interrupt the battle. Poseidon could see through Gojo's soul and knew that he was 100% human, not a hidden god.
"What a joke!"
Poseidon slammed his trident into the ground, causing the manhole covers to start flying off the streets as geysers of water erupted from the sewers. These formed into water dragons, thousands of them, that attacked Gojo in the sky.
"Incredible..."
Gojo, using his six eyes, was able to see a god in action. A sorcerer needs cursed energy to perform their techniques, so no matter how powerful or complex the technique is, there will always be cursed energy mixed in. Gojo couldn't detect any of that; his eyes couldn't see any power with which Poseidon controlled the water. It was as if the water obeyed him simply because he was Poseidon.
...
Gwen – Satoru Gojo made a mistake in asking Allen to return the sea to Poseidon. It's like throwing a stone at his own feet.
Rias – I definitely don't see the point of empowering your opponent...
Maria Hill – It's like a living disaster...
Beerus – That's why they'll never be the strongest heh... How could he call himself that if he allows his opponent to hold back?
Allen smiled. "To be honest, Limitless is too unfair. Its own existence limits your opponent to the techniques they can use... When facing Gojo-sensei, the first thing you need to do is find a way to hurt him... but his opponent is a god. Limiting a god is too rude, don't you think?"
PercyJ – In all honesty, that guy is much better looking than my dad, but I don't like him, so even if he's a Poseidon, I want him to lose hahaha.
...
Gojo teleported from one side to another, but no matter where he went, there would always be a water dragon ready to devour him.
Gojo smiled and decided not to dodge. He charged straight at Poseidon. The dragons hit him but they did not succeed in hurting him, not even in getting him wet.
"What? He's unharmed?" Poseidon was taken aback. But it only lasted a moment; he grabbed his trident and stabbed it toward Gojo.
Gojo smiled, tilted his head, dodged, and struck the god on his chin, making him stumble back. A drop of blood fell from Gojo's cheek. Poseidon's trident, being a divine weapon, was able to pierce infinity, but it wasn't surprising. If something like the "Inverted Spear of Heaven," made by human hands, could do it, why wouldn't the legendary trident of a major god?
Gojo wiped the blood and smiled. "Hehe, as expected, gods are strong~"
Poseidon didn't come out unscathed from the exchange of blows. He spat out blood and wiped his mouth, not expecting a human to hit him so hard.
"Human, who are you?"
Gojo smiled with amusement. "I am nobody important, just the strongest"
Poseidon's face remained unchanged. "I see, die..."
The spear disappeared. No, it moved so fast that it was not possible to see it with the naked eye. Gojo dodged at the same speed, with every movement, every stab being a deadly strike aimed at Gojo's vital points.
"..." This made him serious.
"...!" Poseidon's eyes widened when he felt a force pulling him. A blue sphere formed in Gojo's hand.
"Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue"
By using the rotation of infinity, Gojo could attract things to himself. Poseidon lost his position and broke his stance. Gojo took advantage of this to strike him in the stomach. Then he brought his mouth close to Poseidon's ear, with a hint of mockery.
"Red!"
"Human!"
Poseidon screamed as he was thrown through the city. While Blue is attraction, Red is repulsion. Satoru Gojo smiled as blood fell from one of his arms.
"This guy cut my arm almost all the way off before I sent it flying... What a terrifying reaction haha..."
Gojo didn't stop smiling at his opponent. Every exchange felt like something fatal. Just one slip-up would be enough for Poseidon to pierce his heart, and that's what made it so entertaining!
...
The audience was in shock. Of course, they had no idea who Satoru Gojo was, or where he came from. Curses? Sorcerers? Cursed energy? Since when did the world become an anime?
Of course, considering that the gods, who were once legends, were now very real and seeking to destroy humanity, someone like Satoru Gojo wasn't that hard to accept.
"Wait!"
Hermes appeared on the human side, looking at Allen gravely.
"..." Allen remained silent, maintaining his calm.
"That human is not in the records!"
"That's right..."
Hermes was stunned by Allen's direct admission. Satoru Gojo wasn't a human from the world of Record of Ragnarok, of course, he wouldn't be in the Akashic records.
"Where is he from, then?!"
"From another world!"
Allen's words left everyone silent. Another world? He was a human from another world? If that's how he got here? No, that didn't matter. Did other worlds exist? No, that wasn't important either. If Allen's words were true, this battle would become illegal, right?
"You cheeky bastard, this battle is canceled!"
Hermes was furious. How could he accept something like this? A human brought from another world had no right to participate.
Allen grabbed Hermes by the neck. Hermes felt a surge of anger growing but realized he couldn't move.
"...!?
"Is it irrational to bring a human from another world?" Allen smiled at Hermes' nervous look. "It is, it's irrational, selfish, one-sided, inconsiderate, and above all, unjust..."
"What?!"
Hermes felt a chill run down his spine from Allen's gaze. He was a god, but he felt powerless before the man in front of him. It made no sense.
"Tell me, doesn't it remind you of something?"
"...!"
Hermes was a very intelligent being and immediately understood what Allen was referring to. The entire judgment of the gods toward humanity was biased based on their own perceptions, one-sided, with no opportunity for humanity to defend itself. At no point did they attempt to contact them. It was simply decided that they no longer deserved to exist.
"Answer me, god Hermes!"
"You!"
Hermes paled, feeling like he could be killed at any moment. It was absurd, but his life was hanging by a thread.
"Doesn't it seem unjust to you?!" Allen squinted his eyes. "The impotence of knowing someone can end you without you being able to defend yourself, the uncertainty of realizing that everything you thought was reality turns out to be a lie, the fear of realizing with someone so powerful that your existence is insignificant..."
"Ahh!" Hermes screamed in terror, to which Allen simply exhaled and released him. Hermes fell to the ground, gasping and terrified by the human in front of him.
Allen looked at everyone present, his brow furrowed. "This isn't even a problem; Satoru Gojo is 100% human; that should be more than enough for this battle. If there's anyone who doesn't like that, step forward!"
Shiva smiled with amusement, and that's exactly what he did. However, he was torn to pieces the very next second. No, it was an illusion. Looking toward the human side, Allen was staring directly at him.
"Wh?!"
Allen didn't care what gods they were, whether they were good or worshiped by different cultures. In this world... every god was an enemy that wished to eradicate humanity. There was no mercy in Allen's eyes when dealing with them.
...
The Emperor – Smiles with satisfaction
Gilgamesh – Smiles with rosy cheeks
Beerus – I used to doubt that you had what it takes to be a disciple of a god of destruction, but now I am pleased with your authoritarianism, hahaha.
Whis – Beerus-sama, have some decency...
Vados – Even when you're being bad, you're charming~
Whis – Nee-san...
...
Inside a ruined building was a collapsed Poseidon with rubble around it. He was the kind of god who believed that his existence was perfect and that humans were nothing but defective imitations, humans were to worship them for allowing them to exist. But in modern times, they have turned their backs on them and decided to distance themselves from the gods more and more. Some pantheons, such as the Nordic and Olympus, have practically fallen into oblivion.
It was natural for the gods to be upset and decide to show them their place. Yet here he was, the powerful Poseidon, being pressured by a human. This should've made him angry, it should've hurt his pride, yet Poseidon's actions left everyone in shock. The god of the sea smiled as he watched the blood coming from his mouth more and more.
It was a pleasant surprise for Poseidon, an electrifying and stimulating sensation, a joy that even the Titanomachy didn't bring him. A worthy opponent among humans.
Poseidon struck the ground, and sound waves rumbled deep into the sea, disturbing the eternal tranquility and creating a furious wave that announced the end of the world.
"..." Gojo smiled and used the reverse technique to heal his injured arm instantly. He then watched Poseidon. Gojo didn't know much about this world's Poseidon, but if he was anything like the legends of his world, things weren't looking good.
Gojo disappeared, arriving in front of Poseidon, and they exchanged blows at high speed. Satoru Gojo was not only an expert in cursed techniques but also an extremely strong fighter.
---
"Tsk, that egotistical brat!" Brunhilde clenched her fists. After all, Gojo had refused to perform the Volund with any of her sisters. Allen knew the reason and could only shrug.
"Gojo-sensei is like that..."
Ryomen Sukuna, during his fight with Gojo, used the help of several summonses, including the Divine General Mahoraga, and this definitely made the battle 1 vs. 3 at one point. Gojo definitely didn't want to face a god in a 2 vs 1, with a Valkyrie helping. Satoru Gojo didn't want to give Poseidon even the slightest chance to make excuses when he won.
"Gojo-sensei, you can do it!"
In the stands, Itadori Yuji, the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen and also Gojo's student, cheered him on while holding a banner. His hair was pink, and he had some scars on his face, the result of facing Sukuna.
There were a few other people with Yuji, all coming from the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Allen wasn't sure if it was possible to call them as well, but in the end, it was.
"..." Allen smiled as he watched this, but soon his smile faded. One of the most criticized things in Jujutsu Kaisen was the disrespectful treatment Gojo received.
Then, in his defeat to Sukuna, a series of plans began to emerge to face the King of Curses, making it clear that no one, except Itadori Yuji, thought Gojo would beat Sukuna.
That wasn't the worst part; the body of the man who had been a barrier to all curses for so many years was used as a weapon. As if that wasn't enough, there was no emotional farewell, no worthy funeral. His friends hardly showed sorrow or shed tears.
A simple farewell for the strongest man. It was ironic, but this was the result of his personality being rather unpleasant. At times, he seemed cynical, arrogant, childish, and egotistical. However, he was a man who loved his students and, in the end, gave his life for humanity. But perhaps this was also part of the burden of being the strongest. No matter how many people were around you, there was a barrier that separated you from them, making it hard for them to feel close to you.
Perhaps at some point, Gojo was tired too...
---
Allen looked back at the screen. In contrast to the living Gojo, he seemed happier now, maybe because he no longer needed to be the strongest, or perhaps because he wasn't anymore, entering a world full of gods capable of challenging him.
Gojo smiled while exchanging blows with Poseidon. However, he felt a chill and looked toward the horizon.
"What?"
They were mountains so high they touched the clouds. No, they weren't mountains, it was a massive wave.
"Human..." Poseidon said. He remembered Allen's words clearly. "Do you regret allowing me to use my kingdom?"
Gojo was the one who asked Allen to give Poseidon access to the sea.
In response to Poseidon's question, Gojo smiled, "No, not at all~"
Poseidon's eyes widened, and an even bigger smile appeared on his face. The divine trident lifted into the air. "Human, I admit it, you are worthy of the honor of being my opponent!"
"Thank you, you're almost as strong and handsome as I am."
The people couldn't help but roll their eyes at the ego clash between these two narcissists.
