I Shall Pervert the Heavens

Chapter 53: The Silent Dungeon of the Rat King

Obviously, the man with the scar was the type of person, Zach fear a little due to remembering how he was dealt with by the knight fu*ker. "This, as many know, is the dungeon of the King of Rats. Inside that portal there is practically a huge maze with the appearance of a sewer, with rats the size of large hounds living within. Most probably, the retards... teenagers will end up walking around aimlessly inside. Since the rats' sense of smell is very acute inside the sewer, we have practically gained an incredible number of 7 lures to use. Honestly, for me, we can use those 7 to attract as many rats as possible and end their numbers little by little, since if we go to fight the Rat King with a lot of rats still living, when he goes into berserk mode we will be killed."

Many who had never heard the scarred man speak raised an eyebrow in amazement. Really, what he said made sense. Some had proposed the idea to go straight to the chief of the fortress, but remembering that this chief had a berserk mode, they could only abandon the idea after hearing the scarred man's words. With a nod, he confirmed his own plan was the best for the group, and so they also entered the portal.

Passing through the portal, a terrible smell of feces and rotten things flooded Zach's nose. If it was the first time he felt this, Zach might have felt sick, but the demon body he currently possessed allowed him to immediately adapt to the smell, dulling what should have been unbearable.

Unfortunately, this did not mean that it did not affect others. Looking at the ground, it was possible to see a vomit trail, most likely left behind by those teenagers who entered before them and were not used to this kind of situation. Unfortunately for some and fortunately for others, this made the group's work of tracking down the 7 walking baits much easier.

While Zach watched the surroundings for something different, the people in his group started to draw the weapons they brought. Unfortunately, no magic artifact higher than the dungeon grade was allowed after crossing the gate. While it might have been too easy to deal with the low-rank dungeons if they could use greater artifacts, as one went into the high-rank dungeons, the monsters were all strong enough to resist anyway.

This was tested in abandoned dungeons, since if no one invades a dungeon after some time, the monsters inside start to come out the gate and attack everything they see ahead. Once a Rank C dungeon was responsible for the destruction of an entire village since there was no strong knight powerful enough there. From then on, the government had to adopt measures so that at least Blessed Rank F and E take care of the low-rank dungeons, thus distributing the staff correctly and not wasting manpower.

When everyone had equipped their melee weapons, the scarred man suddenly realized something strange: the noise!

"Shit, the dungeon is not making noise!" the scar-faced man said quickly, looking around.

"So what if it's not making noise?" Zach asked.

"So what if it's not making noise?" a fat man repeated in a presumptuous tone. It was he who had proposed to go straight to kill the King of the Rats, but Zach refuted the idea he gave and left him with a sour mood.

Zach looked at him with a vex look and shook his head. He knew the fat man was a middle-aged knight Rank E who never managed to actually reach the strength of Rank E, being forced to always invade Rank F dungeons because he was too weak to advance rank. Even the man, being more than 30 years old, never bothered to learn or study the dungeons he invaded. Hence came the disappointment Zach had for the man who only depended on having a stronger power to survive until today.

"Are you dumb?" asked the man with the scar while looking at the fat man and Zach. "The most striking feature of the King of the Rats dungeon is the wind that runs in here at such a high speed that it seems to be whistling. Can you hear any whistling by chance?"

Hearing the scar man's question, the fat man finally noticed his own folly and realized that the whistling noise he always heard around here was not present this time. "What's happening?" he asked with a little fear.

Zach wanted an opportunity to get away from the group without arousing suspicion, and now the opportunity had fallen right in his lap. His curiosity drove him to explore the dungeon alone. "Something must be wrong. I'm going for a walk through the dungeon to look for it; you guys keep an eye out for the 7 baits."

"Don't die needlessly," said the man with the scar. Taking a final look at Zach, he and the other adventurers chased after the vomit trail. After going a few times to dungeons with Zach, he knew this boy would not die here even if something abnormal happened.

However, nobody knew that something that could really kill anyone there was truly happening inside that place.

To say that he was not nervous would be a lie. This was his first time in a dungeon like this, and he knew his chance of survival alone was much lower than if he stayed in the group. Still, he couldn't risk revealing something he shouldn't to other people. He would first need to test his own ability, see if there were any peculiarities that could be harmful to him, and only after he was sure it was safe and that it would not have any repercussions for him in the future, could he show other people what he carried.

As he walked, Zach opened his hand and started to "move" his "sixth finger" so that a small flame appeared in his palm. Looking at it, the flame was no different from a normal flame. Yellow and red: Zach saw nothing unusual about the flame until he remembered what he knew as a demon. Hell's flames were no different than normal flames at first, but after purifying so many sins and so many sinners, they would become the most powerful flame. That was something always within him, though due to the constant battles and timers of his past life, he had never stopped to actually test it.
