The Human Resources Director gave a diplomatic smile "Why would you think this position is not right for you? How will you know if you do not try?"

"That seems reasonable but I don't want to be a burden."

"However I have one question to ask."

Alex suddenly thought of something and could not help but inquire. His curiosity was genuine.

"Please go ahead and speak freely!"

The HR Director and three other interviewers took deep breaths simultaneously. They proceeded with extreme caution as though facing a formidable enemy on the battlefield. Their muscles tensed visibly.

It was happening!

The future CEO had finally asked a question! This was the critical moment.

Alex asked with genuine confusion "Why do you believe I am a good fit for your company?

Do you genuinely think I can join your organization? Please answer truthfully. If I do not pass the interview you can tell me directly."

His tone was sincere. He wanted honest feedback.

The HR Director jumped to his feet. Cold sweat poured down his back in rivers. He immediately replied with tremendous confidence.

"Yes! You can definitely join our company! Based on my extensive experience judging people you clearly possess great potential. You will definitely achieve remarkable things in the future while showcasing your talents!"

His voice trembled slightly despite the confident words.

"Therefore Mr. Alex you are most welcome to join our company!"

"Congratulations! You have passed the interview successfully!"

"It is a tremendous honor for our company to have someone as talented as you!"

The HR Director immediately smiled broadly. He grasped Alex's hand enthusiastically and exclaimed with obvious delight. His grip was almost painfully tight.

"Clap clap clap!"

The other interviewers were all seasoned veterans.

They immediately understood the situation without needing explanation. They stood up and applauded while looking at Alex with warm smiles on their faces. The enthusiasm was almost theatrical.

"Ehh?" Alex was completely dumbfounded and could not help but think.

I have potential to be a successful person? How come I don't know my situation myself but you do?

By the way how can this interview be really that simple?

The interviewers had not even asked any substantive questions whatsoever about his qualifications, skills or anything! Not a single technical question.

How can they accept just anyone in their company? Were these interviewers too casual? Too unprofessional?

It was not that Alex had not attended interviews before. Before when he was a fresh graduate he often went to interviews seeking jobs. Before when he was not able to find suitable employment that met his expectations that was why he took the approach of being a security guard. It had seemed temporary at the time.

But who knows his security guard uniform would inadvertently activate the function of time traveling. Whenever he tried to think about it the entire situation always felt like a dream to him. An impossible fantasy that somehow became reality.

After the interview concluded the HR Director respectfully escorted Alex to the door with exaggerated courtesy.

"Mr. Alex please take care. Please be absolutely certain to arrive for work tomorrow morning. I will be here personally to welcome you!"

"Take care Mr. Alex!"

The three other interviewers waved with genuine smiles. Their enthusiasm bordered on worship.

"Oh I see."

Alex nodded with confusion and walked out of the room. This entire experience felt surreal.

The job seekers gathered throughout the corridor were stunned by what they witnessed. Their faces displayed complete disbelief. Jaws hung open.

What was this situation!

Was this candidate really so outstanding?!

So exceptional that the interviewers would greet him with smiles and personally escort him out? That never happened here.

Karna's eyes widened with shock and surprise! His world was crumbling.

No this could not be possible!

What was happening?! Nothing made sense anymore.

Karna jogged forward to intercept Alex. He asked with a shocked expression "Brother your interview must have gone extraordinarily well correct?

You must have answered the questions brilliantly. Otherwise the interviewers would never treat you so respectfully. Please tell me what questions did they ask you?"

He needed to understand. His future depended on it.

Alex blinked with innocence "They only asked me one question. They asked me if I had a girlfriend."

"What?"

"That was the only question they asked?"

"They asked you if you had a girlfriend??!"

Karna was utterly stunned. His eyes widened with complete disbelief. This was insane.

Alex nodded confirmation "That is correct. That was the question they asked."

Upon receiving further confirmation Karna was absolutely dumbfounded. His brain struggled to process this information.

Was this the type of question the most cutting-edge AI company asked candidates?

Simply asking if someone had a girlfriend? Not about algorithms or programming or technical skills?

Could it be that the position this company was hiring for involved research and development related to relationship AI or dating algorithms? That would explain everything.

The more Karna contemplated this possibility the more likely it seemed! It had to be that.

He could tell from the interviewers' behavior that Alex had clearly passed successfully. Otherwise the interviewers would never have greeted Alex with forced smiles while escorting him out of the room. The evidence was clear.

Now Karna could not sit still any longer. His heart raced with panic.

Because he did not have a girlfriend! He was completely single! Painfully alone!

"This job is so critical. An interview definitely requires a girlfriend to succeed."

Taking a deep breath Karna seemed to have made a great decision of his life.

He extracted his phone and dialed the number of a woman he knew. She was a rather large woman weighing approximately eighty-two kilograms who resembled a tank in build. Her proportions were unfortunate.

This tank-like woman had pursued him relentlessly for three years but he had consistently refused her advances. He had blocked her multiple times.

But now!

In order to pass this interview he stopped caring about all those previous reservations. Desperate times required desperate measures.

If they were going to be together then so be it!

One minute elapsed.

The call connected successfully.

Karna took a deep breath. He covered his face with his free hand. With tremendous difficulty he spoke word by word "Bharti please be my girlfriend!"

Bharti responded with surprise "What? Be your girlfriend?"

Just thinking about this woman's unfortunate face and figure Karna suppressed his rising nausea. He nodded firmly "That is correct. I am not joking at all. Please be my girlfriend."

Who could have anticipated what happened next?

The woman stated flatly "Sorry but I already have a boyfriend now."

Actually Bharti was secretly delighted upon hearing this unexpected proposal. Her heart soared.

She had never anticipated this development. Never dreamed it possible.

A top graduate student who returned from studying abroad was actually pursuing her!

This proved she still possessed considerable charm! She was desirable after all.

"Listen to me carefully. Whether you have a boyfriend or not you are now my girlfriend!" Karna practically shouted these desperate words.

If he did not shout them out in one forceful go he simply would not have the courage to speak them aloud. His voice echoed through the corridor.

Bharti sounded somewhat incredulous "Really? I pursued you for years and you always rejected me completely. How could you change your mind so suddenly? You are not lying to me are you?"

"Absolutely true!"

"Please say yes!"

"Please Bharti..."

Karna spoke in an increasingly flattering tone. His pride was completely gone.

His posture was so desperate he almost knelt down to beg Bharti to be his girlfriend. Other candidates stared at him.

Finally after extensive pleading Bharti reluctantly agreed. Victory was his.

Bharti continued with conditions "I can agree to date you. But you must agree to one requirement. You must immediately post my photo on your social media right now!"

After saying this Bharti sent what she considered her absolute best selfie photo to Karna. She had been saving it for this moment.

When Karna saw the photograph he was almost blinded by its unfortunate appearance. He immediately needed supplemental oxygen. His vision blurred.

In the photo the woman who stood approximately one hundred fifty centimeters tall while weighing eighty-two kilograms was wearing a crop top. She twisted her waist while striking an awkward pose! The angle was unflattering. The lighting was harsh.

"Why are you not saying anything?"

"Is it not true that you wanted me to be your girlfriend?"

"Go post it immediately and make the announcement."

"I will only agree after you announce it publicly."

Bharti's rough voice came through the phone demanding compliance. No negotiation was possible.

"Wait just a moment..."

Karna forced back his intense nausea. He took several deep breaths. Finally he posted the photo on his social media along with the caption: It's happening! Bharti and I are together now!

His finger trembled as he hit the post button.

The post had been live for less than one minute.

The comment section on his social media exploded with reactions! Notifications flooded his phone.

"Brother what were you thinking! How can you be so desperate as to date that woman?!"

"Have you been single for too long? Even someone like her looks acceptable now?"

"Brother you are too desperate!"
