I Sell Bottled Water for Gold in Another World!

Chapter 172: Outwitted By Alex!!

Alex genuinely wanted to ask "My father-in-law do you perhaps have some kind of misconception against me? A huge misconception!"

Mr. Raghavan continued speaking "But I am kind. I didn't want my daughter to look sad.

How about it? My company in Pune is currently short one director position with an annual salary of one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars.

Would you like to change jobs? If you agree I can arrange for you to start work tomorrow morning."

While he said so there was another scheme in his mind. His idea was quite simple actually. Nothing too complicated.

As long as the two people were not living in the same location long-distance relationships were extremely difficult.

They would be thousands of kilometers apart.

Over sufficient time the two would have less contact. Their communication would gradually decrease.

Their feelings would naturally fade away. Eventually Riya would calm down emotionally.

He would not even need to actively stop them anymore.

His daughter would voluntarily bring up breaking up with the security guard herself. Problem solved without him being the villain.

Alex raised an eyebrow with knowing understanding. He perceived his father-in-law's transparent scheme clearly.

"That is unnecessary."

"Being a security guard suits me perfectly! The freedom is wonderful. I don't want to be a corporate worker!"

Alex smiled faintly looking like he would rather be broken than kneel. His pride was evident.

"Unnecessary?" Mr. Raghavan frowned with confusion and frustration clear in his tone.

"Young man I do not mean to criticize you harshly but how much can a security guard realistically earn monthly?

Even if you work yourself to death you will only make slightly over two hundred fifty dollars monthly at most.

Besides that represents about the limit for people of your profession. Their monthly income cannot exceed twenty-five hundred dollars even with overtime.

How will you provide my daughter with happiness in the future?

How can you guarantee the quality of life? I am only offering this because you are young and I want to give you valuable experience. Why will you not seize this opportunity?"

The offer was generous by any standard. A hundred twenty-five thousand annually was respectable middle management money.

Alex smiled slightly "Father-in-law. Please do not worry. Even if I work as a security guard for my entire lifetime I can absolutely guarantee I can provide Riya with genuine happiness and make her live carefree without concerns about the future."

He spoke very directly and frankly with complete sincerity.

The gold he had traded in ancient times during just the last month or two alone was sufficient for him to spend extravagantly for several lifetimes not to mention he still wanted to develop his business for a long time.

So even if he had to spend hundreds of millions of dollars monthly it would be more than enough to last a lifetime.

He could never exhaust all his wealth completely. The numbers were too astronomical.

This fortune was genuinely inexhaustible!

Moreover he had already seized control of the entire black market throughout Ironhold.

He was earning several times more money daily than before.

Money was flowing into his accounts almost every minute of every day. The Viper Syndicate operated with ruthless efficiency.

Alex spoke with such righteous indignation and complete conviction that other wealthy people gathered nearby twitched with disbelief upon hearing this outrageous declaration.

How could this young fool spout utter nonsense with such a serious tone?

Being a security guard was supposedly more promising than becoming a director earning six figures?

Who had given this person the courage to speak those absurd words?

In their collective hearts they labeled Alex as an ignorant and arrogantly delusional person living in fantasy. A case study in delusion.

Seeing that absolutely no one around him believed his truthful words Alex felt genuinely lamentable about how moral standards had declined.

Why was it that no one believed him when he told the absolute truth?

This situation was terrible. Honesty got you nowhere.

Did he have to openly flaunt his wealth occasionally? Would that be the only way?

"You young man..." Mr. Raghavan was also convinced that Alex was far too cunning and manipulative to think about his inner scheme. That was why he was rejecting this generous offer.

Otherwise who would give such a blunt refusal!

He must be plotting something bigger and more ambitious!

Moreover Mr. Raghavan believed he had developed a deeper understanding of Alex's character.

His shamelessness was absolutely outrageous!

Even when facing wealthy and powerful people he stood tall and straight showing no signs of inferiority complex.

He spoke with unwavering confidence and self-righteous conviction! Like he truly believed himself their equal.

"Damn it all!"

"It seems this particular method will not work effectively. I must attempt yet another approach."

Mr. Raghavan thought to himself while strategizing rapidly. His mind worked through possibilities.

He had not wanted to employ such a crude and low-level method initially.

But anything less than direct confrontation seemed ineffective against this boy.

That security guard was incredibly shameless beyond measure.

Alex simply did not understand or acknowledge the meaning of Mr. Raghavan wanting him to leave his daughter alone. Subtle hints bounced off him like rubber.

"No wonder television dramas and movies frequently use this kind of plot device. Using money to make people leave relationships. Although it feels very manipulative and crude the message is expressed with perfect clarity."

Mr. Raghavan had genuinely not wanted to use this particular tactic. It felt beneath him.

But in this situation he had absolutely no choice remaining. The boy forced his hand.

"Bring me those two cases," Mr. Raghavan instructed his household staff.

The servant nodded obediently and went to the storage room to retrieve two large leather suitcases. They looked heavy.

The suitcases were opened dramatically. They were filled completely with banknotes stacked neatly in organized bundles.

One case contained two hundred fifty thousand dollars.

Two cases totaled five hundred thousand dollars!

Five hundred thousand dollars in physical cash!

It was laid out so blatantly and dramatically in front of Alex for maximum psychological impact. The visual was impressive.

Mr. Raghavan noticed that Alex refused to be swayed by previous tactics.

His face turned cold and stern.

He spoke with calculated calm "Young man! Do not blame me for being brutally blunt but I am laying all my cards on the table with you completely.

My daughter graduated from university less than two years ago. She has been in professional society for only a short time.

Her experience remains extremely limited. Sometimes young people inevitably take the wrong path and choose the wrong romantic partners.

I absolutely disagree with you and my daughter together! This is five hundred thousand dollars. As long as you break up with my daughter permanently I will give you this money!"

The amount represented more than what most people earned in ten years of hard work. It should be tempting enough.

Alex shrugged helplessly before stepping forward to examine the cases.

Seeing this movement the other wealthy people's faces displayed obvious contempt and vindication. There it was!

They had been correct!

That security guard had only been after money all along! The mask finally slipped.

"Haha this young man is so straightforward. He didn't hesitate for a second to run for the money. His motivations are crystal clear."

"It is fair to acknowledge the security guard possesses a good amount of cunning.

After all he managed to get President Raghavan to pay him five hundred thousand dollars to leave his daughter alone. He profited substantially from this scam."

"That security guard is indeed extraordinarily cunning and manipulative. A gold digger through and through."

Alex had only taken two steps forward when Mr. Raghavan stated firmly "I did not say I would actually give you the five hundred thousand dollars."

Alex was genuinely stunned by this revelation. His steps halted.

He had absolutely no idea what scheme Mr. Raghavan was attempting now. What game was this?

Mr. Raghavan chuckled darkly "I did not say I was going to give you this money. I merely wanted to show it to you so you would understand reality and back down voluntarily."

Alex could only stare in disbelief. His mouth opened slightly.

This uncle really possessed unique character indeed. Manipulative to the core.

Taking out such a substantial amount of money with great ceremony...

Was the goal simply to make him back down psychologically? To show him what he could never have?

A cunning glint flashed in Mr. Raghavan's calculating eyes.

This five hundred thousand dollars represented merely a fantasy and pipe dream for Alex.

It was never genuinely intended to be given to him. Just bait for a psychological trap.

Too many wealthy people online had spent money attempting to separate couples. But not a single determined young person had been willing to accept.

Instead of stopping their pursuit they frantically demanded more money repeatedly. The greed was bottomless.

Receiving money would only make them more greedy and demanding. It set a dangerous precedent.

Therefore this time he was simply trying to psychologically provoke Alex.

He wanted Alex to develop a clear understanding of himself. He wanted Alex to know how much Mr. Raghavan truly valued his daughter compared to money. That she was priceless.

Alex frowned with growing irritation. The manipulation was transparent.

Since this person was deliberately playing tricks on him he would not stand on ceremony either.

Alex smiled faintly "Unfortunately for you Riya represents something that money absolutely cannot purchase."

Mr. Raghavan retorted sharply "Then what did you mean when you stepped forward to examine this money just moments ago?"

Alex responded smoothly "I was merely attempting to confirm whether this money was counterfeit or genuine. I wanted to verify you were not trying to fool me with fake bills."

Then he picked up several banknotes and flipped them over for inspection. His movements were casual.

Just as he had suspected!

Apart from the few genuine bills displayed on the surface the remainder consisted entirely of blank paper sheets cut to size.

Mr. Raghavan had never genuinely intended to give him money.

This had been merely another psychological trick. Theater for an audience.

"You have constantly boasted about how extraordinarily wealthy you are. Yet you had to resort to fakery to produce this five hundred thousand dollars all for your own daughter's sake.

You cannot even bear to part with this relatively small amount of money."

"You are truly her biological father indeed."

Alex gave a mocking smile that cut deeply. The sarcasm was thick.

Mr. Raghavan felt embarrassed by this exposure. His face flushed slightly.

He coughed lightly while explaining "I was merely testing your character. I did not need to take out genuine money for that purpose."

Although he had been completely outwitted by Alex's quick thinking Mr. Raghavan had to acknowledge something important.

Regarding Alex's performance and behavior throughout this test he remained very satisfied overall.

The young man had not been swayed or corrupted by money. He possessed genuine character and integrity.

After considerable deliberation Mr. Raghavan made a significant decision.

He would give Alex a genuine chance and opportunity to be together with his daughter properly.

But there would be conditions. Tests. Challenges to prove his worth beyond mere words.
