Chapter 3: reincarnated in to my novel(2)

Dakota: "Wait, let's not fight here in the classroom. We should go outside."

Andy: "Hm, you're right. Fine, let's go."

With that, Andy and I headed outside, students watching us as we passed. Once we were a safe distance from the academy, I turned to face him.

Dakota: "Alright, now that we're here, I'm going to activate my magical barrier."

A magical barrier, for those who might not know, creates a contained space where any damage inside can be repaired once the fight ends. It also protects anything or anyone outside the barrier from harm, and the only way to enter is to either get permission from the barrier's creator or forcefully break through.

Once the shimmering barrier formed around us, I took a deep breath, my pulse quickening.

Dakota: "Okay, the barrier's set. Let's get started."

Andy: "Yeah, let's do this!"

I conjured a flame sword in my hand, its bright, hot blade casting light around us. "Well then, let's go, you arrogant punk."

The fight erupted quickly. Andy launched a fireball at me, but I dodged, rushing behind him to strike with my sword. He was faster than I expected, dodging and retaliating with a swift kick to my stomach, which sent me crashing to the ground.

Dakota: "Damn, he's tougher than I thought. Looks like I'll need to step it up."

I pushed myself up, focusing my energy, and lunged forward, landing a solid hit to his chest with a flaming punch. The blow sent him flying backward, and he staggered before finding his balance.

Andy: "Argh, that hurt. This guy… he's definitely faster than me, but I might be stronger. I can use that to my advantage."

Andy activated his own flame fist, charging toward me. We clashed in midair, our fists colliding in a burst of sparks and fire. For a moment, we were evenly matched, our strengths meeting in a stalemate.

Dakota: "You're stronger than I expected, Andy. But I'm still going to win."

Andy: "Funny, I was just thinking the same thing."

Our clash ended in a draw, but we wasted no time launching back into the fight. Andy hurled a barrage of fireballs at me, forcing me to keep moving, dodging each one while waiting for an opening.

Inside the academy, students gathered near the windows, watching us intently.

Lucas: "Wow, I knew Dakota was strong, but I didn't realize he was this strong."

Ava: "Me neither. I really hope he wins."

Liam: "What do you think, Mia? Who's going to win?"

Mia: "I believe Dakota will. He's my friend, and of course, I'm going to choose him."

Lucas: "True. But I think he'll win not just because he's my friend, but because he genuinely looks stronger."

Ava: "Same here. Dakota just seems… more skilled. It's what my heart is telling me."

Back in the fight, I dodged yet another fireball, but my patience was wearing thin.

Dakota (thinking): "This guy won't stop spamming fireballs. It's so damn annoying. But he's burning through his mana too fast. If he keeps this up, he'll tire himself out soon enough."

Andy was muttering under his breath, frustration visible on his face. "Why won't he stay still? He's dodging everything! Fine, I'll have to catch him off guard."

His plan became clear to me as he formed a flame sword while still throwing fireballs. The fireballs slowed and became fewer, indicating he was preparing something different.

Dakota (thinking): "Ah, so he's planning to throw me off balance with these fireballs, then teleport behind me and strike with his sword. I'll play along like I haven't figured it out."

When his fireballs finally ceased, Andy teleported behind me, attempting to stab. But I was ready—I dodged his attack, spun behind him, and landed a blow with my flame sword, cutting across his back.

Andy: "What? How did you know what I was planning?"

Dakota: "It wasn't hard to figure out. Your moves are pretty basic."

Andy: "Basic? Why are you acting like you've fought real battles before?"

Dakota: "Because I have. I've been training with my father, and he's one of the best fighters I know. Besides that, I… let's just say I have some experience from another life."

Andy stumbled, clenching his fists. "Damn it! I thought I was the greatest child genius, but I guess it's actually you."

Dakota: "I thought you'd be furious over losing, but you're taking it surprisingly well."

Andy: "Yeah, well, I lost fair and square. I'm mad, but… not as mad as I could be."

Dakota: "It was a good fight, Andy. For your age, you're pretty strong."

Andy: "Thanks… child genius." He smirked, though the edge of frustration was still visible.

Dakota: "No problem. But I still need to report this incident. You're going to be in big trouble."

Andy: "Yeah, I know. But I'm only seven—what are they going to do, arrest me?"

Dakota: "Good point." I grinned. "I'll just leave you here and let the teachers deal with it. See you around, Andy."

Andy: "Yeah, bye."

As I dropped the barrier and walked back toward the academy, a sense of accomplishment filled me. This was my first real battle in this life, and it felt good to come out on top.

My classmates rushed over to meet me, their eyes wide with admiration.

Lucas: "Dakota, that was incredible!"

Liam: "You're way stronger than I ever thought."

Mia: "Yeah, that was amazing!"

Ava: "You were… really strong." She hesitated, then mumbled something softly that I couldn't quite catch, but her face had a hint of pink to it.

Class: "Dakota, you were awesome! You're truly a genius!"

Dakota: "Thank you, everyone, but we should go find the teacher and let them know what happened."

Class: "Yeah, good idea. Let's go!"

We made our way back into the academy, looking for our teacher. Soon, we spotted her in the hallway, a concerned look on her face.

Teacher: "Oh, there you are, class. Are you all okay?"

Class: "Yes, we're fine, thanks to Dakota."

Teacher: "Hmm? Thanks to Dakota? What did he do?"

Class: "Do you want us to tell you everything?"

They began excitedly recounting the entire fight, exaggerating every detail as they went on. I stood there, letting my classmates take over, a small smile on my face. For now, the battle was over, and I was happy to be back among friends, with everyone safe and sound.
