Chapter 12: chapter 12

As soon as the duel ended, all the healers rushed to Henry's side, their hands glowing with healing magic to stabilize him. They worked quickly, not wanting to risk his life after the fierce battle. Dakota watched for a moment, taking a deep breath. The match had taken a lot out of him, and he could feel the adrenaline gradually leaving his system.

Once he saw Henry was stable, Dakota left the fighting stage, weaving through the crowd of spectators who were still buzzing with excitement. He spotted his friends waiting for him and made his way over, trying to ignore the lingering glances and whispers from the students around him.

Lucas: "Hey, Dakota! That fight was insane! You totally blew everyone's expectations out of the water."

Liam: "Yeah, I'm still trying to process what I just saw. That technique you pulled off… it was on a whole other level."

Mia: "You were incredible, Dakota! I knew you were strong, but I didn't realize you'd be that amazing out there."

Ava: "Honestly, I kind of expected you to have some kind of secret technique hidden up your sleeve."

Dakota raised an eyebrow, grinning as he looked at Ava.

Dakota: "Oh, you did, Ava?"

Ava: "Yeah, I just had this feeling that you were holding back something big. Guess I was right."

Dakota chuckled to himself, impressed with Ava's intuition. She really does have a good sense for these things, he thought.

Lucas: "Seriously, Dakota, that fight was so incredible that now I want to go up against you too. Right now, if you're up for it!"

Dakota laughed, shaking his head. He was exhausted, and the thought of another duel at that moment was almost painful.

Dakota: "Maybe another time, Lucas. I'm worn out right now. All I want is to go home, rest, and eat a big meal."

Lucas: "Fair enough. Go get some rest, and then we can set up a proper duel."

Dakota: "Sounds like a plan." He waved goodbye to his friends. "Catch you all later."

As Dakota made his way home, he let the events of the day sink in. The thrill of the fight, the roar of the crowd—it was exhilarating but exhausting. Once he reached his front door, he barely had a chance to step inside before his parents rushed over.

Mother: "Oh my goodness, Dakota! I watched your fight, and you were absolutely incredible!"

Father: "You've come a long way, son. I knew you had potential, but seeing it in action like that… well, I'm proud of you."

Dakota smiled, appreciating their support.

Dakota: "Thanks, Mom. Thanks, Dad. I'm glad I made you proud."

Mother: "We're just glad you're okay, really. You had me on edge for a moment there."

Father: "You should've seen how worried she was." He grinned, teasing her.

Mother: "Honey, I told you not to say that!"

Dakota chuckled as his parents playfully bickered. The warm atmosphere made him feel at ease after such a challenging day.

Dakota: "Alright, I'm going to head upstairs and take a bath. I really need to relax."

Mother: "Okay, I'll start dinner. We'll eat as soon as it's ready."

Dakota nodded and went upstairs, heading straight to the bathroom. He filled the tub with warm water, the steam filling the room, and sank into it, letting out a deep sigh.

Dakota: What a day. Stressful, but in the best way possible.

He leaned back, the day's memories replaying in his mind. He had completed his first mission—defeating the main character, Henry. It was a key milestone in his goals, and the rush of success filled him with satisfaction.

Dakota: I've still got missions to complete at this academy, but I'm not worried. One step at a time, I'll get through all of them.

For now, though, he just wanted to enjoy the moment. He closed his eyes, letting the warmth of the water soothe his sore muscles. Before he knew it, he drifted off into a light sleep.

The next morning, Dakota woke up early, feeling refreshed and ready for the day. He dressed quickly and arrived at the academy, relieved to be on time.

Dakota: Phew, glad I didn't oversleep.

He found his class and entered, only to hear a surprised remark from the teacher.

Teacher: "Ah, look who it is—the strongest and most famous student in the academy."

Dakota blinked, taken aback.

Dakota: "Huh? The strongest and most famous?"

Teacher: "Oh, you haven't heard? Everyone's talking about you. They're calling you the most promising youngster in all of history."

Dakota: "Seriously? Who's saying that?"

Teacher: "Social media, especially Twitter. You're all over it."

Dakota sighed, unable to hold back a chuckle.

Dakota: "Of course. Leave it to Twitter to spread the word."

Teacher: "Now, go ahead and take your seat. We'll get started."

Dakota nodded and made his way to his usual spot next to his friends.

Lucas: "Good morning, Mr. Strongest-in-the-Academy!"

Dakota: "Please don't call me that."

Lucas: "But it's your nickname now, isn't it?"

Liam: "Yeah, and don't forget 'Most Promising Youngster.'"

Ava: "I think it suits you. It really captures your potential."

Mia: "I agree!"

Dakota rolled his eyes, though he couldn't help but smile at their enthusiasm.

Dakota: "Alright, alright, can you all stop calling me by those nicknames and just use my actual name?"

The group shared a laugh and agreed. The lesson began, and when it ended, they all made their way to the cafeteria for lunch. As they were chatting, Henry approached, a friendly smile on his face.

Henry: "Hey, Dakota. Would you mind joining us for a bit? I'd really like for us to get to know each other better, maybe even be friends."

Dakota nodded, seeing no reason to turn him down.

Dakota: "Sure, I'd be up for that."

His friends exchanged surprised glances. They hadn't expected Henry, the one Dakota had just defeated, to reach out in such a friendly way. But Dakota understood Henry's nature—he knew that the main character was someone who valued strength and respected those who could challenge him.

As they walked to the cafeteria, Dakota noticed that Henry's entire group was there, including Jack, who greeted Liam with his usual attitude.

Jack: "Well, look who it is. Nice to see you again, you jerk."

Liam smirked, crossing his arms.

Liam: "Nice to see you too."

Dakota quickly intervened before things got heated.

Dakota: "Alright, both of you, calm down. We're here to talk, not fight."

Liam: "Fine, fine."

Henry: "Let's just grab a table and talk. I thought it'd be nice for all of us to spend some time together."

They found an empty table and sat down. Around them, other students began to notice, and soon whispers filled the cafeteria.

Random student: "Look at that—all the strongest students in the academy are sitting together."

Random student: "I bet every single one of them could solo the entire academy—except the teachers."

Dakota chuckled, catching the murmur.

Dakota: Well, would you look at that? Seems like we've attracted quite the crowd.

Amelia: "Of course everyone's watching. We're the strongest students here. It's only natural."

Ava: "Agreed."

Dakota: "Alright, so why did you want us all here, Henry?"

Henry: "Like I said, I just want us to be friends. I think there's a lot we could learn from each other."

Dakota: "I was actually thinking the same thing."

Henry: "Great! Why don't we introduce ourselves again, just to make it official?"

They each introduced themselves, with some added humor here and there. When they finished, Jack immediately turned to Liam, challenging him.

Jack: "Now that that's over, hey, jerk, how about a rematch?"

Liam smirked.

Liam: "You think you can handle my Lightning Swift?"

Jack: "The only reason you won last time was because you caught me off guard. This time, I'll be ready."

Luna: "Actually, Mia, I want a rematch against you too."

Mia: "Oh, you're on!"

Amelia: "And Ava, I've been wanting to go up against you again."

Dakota watched them, an amused smile on his face.

Dakota: Look at that—everyone's itching for a rematch. This should be interesting.

Henry: "You know, Dakota, ever since our fight, I've been looking forward to a rematch too."

Dakota: "Alright, why not? Let's make it happen."
