Chapter 113: A Splash of Something New

The group had just paired off, excitement buzzing in the air as they each scattered to explore the massive water park. Liam stood by Mia, who had chosen him without hesitation, her warm smile lighting up her face.

Mia: "So, Liam, where should we go first? You're the planner, right?"

Liam: scratching the back of his head with a grin "I guess I do have my moments. Let's start with something fun but not too crazy—how about the lazy river? Gives us a chance to warm up."

Mia: teasing "You mean you need to warm up. I'm already ready for anything."

Liam: chuckling "Alright, we'll see who's ready after a few rounds."

The two made their way to the lazy river, grabbing inner tubes before hopping in. The gentle current carried them along, weaving through palm trees and waterfalls. Liam leaned back in his tube, letting the water lull him into a calm rhythm, but his focus kept drifting to Mia, who seemed to radiate happiness as she splashed at the water with her hands.

Mia: "This is nice. Peaceful, you know?"

Liam: nodding "Yeah, it's a good way to take a breather. Especially after everything we've been through lately."

Mia: glancing at him "You don't relax enough, Liam. Always thinking three steps ahead. It's okay to just… enjoy the moment."

Liam: smiling softly "Maybe you're right. Guess I've got a good reason to try today."

Mia's cheeks tinted pink, and she turned her gaze back to the water, pretending to splash at it again.

---

The lazy river set a relaxed tone, but Mia wasn't content to keep things mellow for long. Dragging Liam toward a towering slide with multiple loops, she flashed him a mischievous grin.

Mia: "Let's crank it up a notch. This one looks awesome!"

Liam: eying the height of the slide "Not gonna lie, that's a lot of loops. You sure you're up for it?"

Mia: hands on her hips "Liam, I didn't choose you to play it safe. Come on, let's go!"

They climbed to the top, the excitement in the air palpable. When it was their turn, they grabbed a double tube, with Liam in the back and Mia in the front.

Mia: turning to him "You better hold on, lightning boy. This is gonna be wild."

Liam: smirking "You'd better steer us straight, or we're both in trouble."

The attendant gave them a gentle push, and the slide's current took over. The first drop sent them hurtling downward, Mia's delighted laughter echoing through the tube. Liam couldn't help but grin, her enthusiasm infectious. As they navigated the twists and turns, water spraying in every direction, he found himself enjoying the ride more than he expected.

Mia: laughing as they splashed into the pool at the bottom "That was amazing! Did you see that last turn?"

Liam: grinning "Hard to miss it when you're screaming the whole way down."

Mia: playfully splashing him "I was not screaming! That was excitement, thank you very much."

---

The day wore on, and the two continued exploring the park. From racing down side-by-side slides to testing their skills on an obstacle course, they pushed each other to try new things. Mia's adventurous spirit kept Liam on his toes, while his steady presence gave her the confidence to tackle even the most daunting attractions.

---

Eventually, they found themselves at a secluded section of the park, where a smaller pool surrounded by lush greenery offered a quieter escape. Mia sat on the edge of the pool, her feet dangling in the water. Liam joined her, the two of them letting the peaceful atmosphere settle around them.

Mia: "Today's been perfect. I needed this."

Liam: glancing at her "Yeah, it's been a nice break. No fights, no chaos… just fun."

Mia: smiling softly "I'm glad we did this. I'm glad I got to spend the day with you."

Liam felt his chest tighten at her words, the sincerity in her voice catching him off guard. He wasn't used to moments like this—quiet, honest, and unspokenly significant.

Liam: clearing his throat "You're a good partner, Mia. You keep things… interesting."

Mia: laughing lightly "Interesting, huh? That's not exactly a glowing review."

Liam: smirking "I mean it in the best way. You've got this energy that makes everything better. It's hard not to enjoy myself when you're around."

Mia's laughter faded, her gaze softening as she looked at him. For a moment, neither of them spoke, the sounds of the park fading into the background.

Mia: quietly "You're not bad yourself, Liam. I know I tease you a lot, but… I feel safe with you. Like, no matter what happens, you've got my back."

Liam was taken aback by her candor, but he managed a smile, his hand brushing against hers as they sat side by side.

Liam: "Always. You can count on that."

Their fingers lingered for a moment, a subtle but deliberate connection forming between them. The warmth of the moment was interrupted only by the distant sounds of laughter and splashing, reminding them they weren't entirely alone.

---

Mia decided to end their day with a visit to the park's ferris wheel, which overlooked the entire water park. As they climbed into one of the capsules, the sun was setting, casting the sky in shades of orange and pink.

Mia: leaning against the railing "It's beautiful up here."

Liam: standing beside her "Yeah, it is."

But his eyes weren't on the horizon—they were on Mia, her hair catching the light in a way that made his breath hitch. She turned to him, catching his gaze, and a faint blush spread across her cheeks.

Mia: teasing softly "Caught you staring."

Liam: rubbing the back of his neck "Sorry. It's just… you look happy. I like seeing that."

Mia's smile widened, and she stepped closer, her usual playful demeanor giving way to something softer.

Mia: "You don't have to apologize, Liam. I like seeing you relax, too. You're different when you're not overthinking everything."

Liam: laughing quietly "Guess you bring that out in me."

The ferris wheel reached its peak, the view breathtaking. But neither of them was paying attention to the scenery anymore. Slowly, almost hesitantly, Mia rested her head on Liam's shoulder. He froze for a moment before relaxing, his arm wrapping around her in a gesture of quiet comfort.

Mia: softly "Thanks for today, Liam. It really was perfect."

Liam: smiling "Yeah. It was."

They stayed like that until the ferris wheel began its descent, the moment etched in both their memories as something they wouldn't soon forget.
