Chapter 12: Chapter 12 The beautiful woman shows off her power
After returning to his room, Liu Yu grabbed his cell phone, opened the Penguin messaging app, and initiated a conversation with one of Nian Shang's acquaintances.
He wrestled with indecision for a prolonged moment before finally sending the message: "How did you manage to capture her?"
The source of his hesitation lay in not knowing the person's identity and the fear that it could be someone he knew well. However, the owner of this account hadn't been particularly communicative since Liu Yu added her nearly a year ago. Her online activity primarily consisted of daily updates in her space, where she generously shared the things she enjoyed doing at home with her virtual friends.
One minute, and then another, passed without a response from the account owner, which left Liu Yu growing increasingly impatient. His eagerness to unravel the mystery led him to send five consecutive question marks in an attempt to prompt a response.
Surprisingly, this tactic proved effective. The account owner saw the message and promptly replied with a single word: "medicine."
Liu Yu's worry escalated as he contemplated the possibility that she might report him when she woke up.
"Hehe, is that even possible?" he inquired.
"Why wouldn't it be possible?" was the response that came back. The chat box displayed a conspicuous exclamation mark, which irked Liu Yu. In his frustrated state, he angrily hurled his phone against the wall.
Regret washed over him immediately after he acted on his frustration, prompting him to swiftly retrieve his phone. Fortunately, the phone's quality shone through as the screen remained unscathed.
Filled with uncertainty, he sought out the account owner and sent a friend request. He accompanied it with a humble verification message: "What if I did something wrong? Please forgive me."
However, the account owner had vanished entirely, showing no intention of responding again.
"Medicine?" Liu Yu mulled over this cryptic response as he awaited further communication from the account owner. Gradually, fatigue overtook him, and he fell asleep with his head resting on the pillow.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Qingyun City, a fierce altercation erupted within a KTV venue. Two groups clashed vehemently, and a young man shielded a beautiful woman from the ensuing violence. Confronted by three aggressors wielding sticks, the young man remained calm and deftly incapacitated them using his hands and feet.
This astonishing display left everyone present in awe, especially Mr. Hei, who lounged on a sofa puffing on a cigar, observing the proceedings with a composed demeanor. He remained entranced until the glowing ember of his cigar approached his crotch, compelling him to react by hastily dousing it with foreign wine from his cup.
Exhaling deeply, he muttered to himself, "Impressive."
"Why are you all just standing there? Get in there! What are you waiting for, you bunch of good-for-nothings," the boss urged, rallying his henchmen to join the melee and subdue the young man and the beautiful woman.
The henchmen hesitated initially but eventually charged forward, only to meet the same fate as their predecessors—being thrown to the ground by the agile young man.
"Are you alright, aunt?" After dealing with the troublemakers, the young man turned his attention to the trembling beautiful woman, offering a comforting pat on her back to alleviate her distress.
"I'm fine, thank goodness you were here," Yang Shumin responded, her grip on the young man's clothes still tight, a dazed expression on her face as she continued to process the shock.
"Let's retrieve that IOU," the young man suggested, picking up the IOU from the table and placing it in his pocket. He then crouched beside the black-clad boss and posed a sarcastic question, "Do you intend to collect this debt from my aunt?"
The boss, Liu Zhe, eyed the dagger in the young man's hand and quickly replied with a tone of fear, "Brother, you're the boss now. Take it. I don't want this IOU anymore. Consider it a gift from me."
At that moment, his top priority was his survival, outweighing any concerns about his pride. Faced with imminent danger, pride became a trivial matter. Furthermore, even if he suffered a blow to his reputation, it was inconsequential compared to the newfound respect his subordinates afforded him by addressing him as "boss."
Liu Zhe, a forty-year-old who had toiled diligently in Qingyun City since his youth, had experienced a turbulent journey before finally opening a gambling establishment with a group of younger associates a few years ago. Although his annual earnings were modest, perhaps only ten thousand, Liu Yu's IOU represented a substantial sum, nearly equivalent to a month's income. Nevertheless, he didn't hesitate to relinquish it.
His current mindset was straightforward: survive and return home to spend quality time with his family.
"Thank you," the young man responded courteously, accepting the IOU and expressing his gratitude.
"Shall we go, aunt?" the young man inquired, rising to his feet and extending a hand to assist Yang Shumin, who had remained in a state of shock beside him.
"Yes," Yang Shumin concurred, her dazed state rendering her compliant as she allowed the young man to lead her away.
With a concealed smile, the young man held the beautiful woman close to him. As he inhaled her fragrance, he allowed his hand to explore her hips and waist, thoroughly relishing the sensation.
