I Ran Away And The Reverse Harem Started

Chapter 26

Chapter 26 “Oh, just looking around the mansion.” “Not outside?” “Yes. Is there any problem?” Out of frustration, I quickly responded to Angela’s words. No matter how friendly Angela pretended to be with me, I couldn’t tell her that I’d just come from having tea with the Masters. Angela said ‘Hmm’ at my answer and nodded with an indifferent expression. “Okay, whatever. Eat it quickly before the bread gets too hard. I left out the butter too.” Fortunately, she seems to be moving on. I packed the snacks and looked uncomfortably at Angela’s back as she went back into the room. ‘I know she’s taking care of me because she committed a crime against me, but I don’t know if it’s 100% good intentions.’ Even so, she was one of Miriam’s group. Although she doesn’t talk to me when Miriam’s around… I’m the one who’s leaving anyway. I don’t want to give her affection for no reason, and even if you say you’ll be nice to me, there’s no need for me to spill information about this and that. If nothing is certain, it is better to be cautious. I roughly grabbed one from the bread basket and then went back to my room. Dinner time came and I quietly made my way back to the mansion. I had arranged to be measured in Roan’s room. It was top secret that I was attending the party, so I made my way to the third floor, dodging one occupant after another like a character in a mystery novel. Since there were guests in the mansion this time, there was a risk of encountering the maids and kitchen maids assisting the guests. In any case, I could just lie and say Roan asked me something. Fortunately, there was no one in the third floor hallway. ‘I can’t believe I just have to take the measurements to get that pretty dress. I’m so excited.’ The pink dress in the sketchbook had a brightness that I had never worn before in my life. After possessing myself in this world, I’d spent years mending the clothes I’d worn unless I grew too big to wear them, but to see such a luxurious dress. I held on to my pounding heart and headed to the guest room. Knock- “Mr. Roan, It’s me.” I stood close to the door and spoke with my voice muffled. Immediately afterwards, Roan’s voice was heard beyond the door. “Come in.” I didn’t want anyone to see me entering the guest room, so I quickly opened the door and entered, then quietly closed it again. The door closed with a small click and I turned around. Then I took a deep breath and covered my mouth. “Mr. Roan!” I was shocked and called Roan. This is because Roan was standing in a bluish room lit by moonlight with his shirt unbuttoned. His soft, milk chocolate-colored hair hung over his shoulders thanks to the long hair he usually tied loosely down. Roan was at ease, even as I freaked out at the sudden sight of pure white skin. “I assume you’re here to take my measurements, but first, can you get me my glasses?” Upon closer inspection, he wasn’t wearing glasses. Instead, his brow was furrowed as if his vision was blurred, and he was looking somewhere in my direction. ‘If you’re changing, tell me to come back later, really!’ I grumbled inwardly and handed over the glasses that were on the bedside table. Roan slid them over the bridge of his nose. Unlike the monocle he wore when he came to the mansion, these were glasses with long strings. Only after he put them on did Roan look down at me, his brow tightening. “I’m sorry. I forgot where I put my glasses, and I’m not supposed to be able to find them on my own.” “Yes, I see…” Okay, so please adjust your clothes. As I took a step back, looking at him hesitantly, he spoke to me in a suspiciously friendly manner. “Since you’re here, would you mind helping me with my clothes? You’ve been hired as a maid, but have you ever helped the children here with their clothes?” “Mr. Roan. Are you making fun of me? I won’t serve you unless they’re very difficult!” There was no way Roan didn’t know this. Even if children who have been doing their own thing since childhood suddenly live in a luxurious mansion, that does not mean they have become nobles to their core. “Oops, I got caught.” When I responded calmly, Roan shrugged his shoulders and sighed, saying that the reaction was not interesting. Roan quickly buttoned his shirt and tied his long, loose hair back together. I wonder why he looks more comfortable than when I saw him during the day. His pale skin illuminated by moonlight, nervous appearance, and sunken cheeks made him look even more decadent. I glanced at Roan rolling up his shirt sleeves and was purely amazed. ‘I can understand why the maids are drooling.’ “Hey, can you light the lamp?” “Ah, yes.” When I lit the two lamps in the room, his face became brighter than before. “By the way, did you take my measurements, Mr. Roan?” Roan cut off the end of his cigar and held it to his mouth as he spoke. “No, my assistant will be here soon, a female assistant.” “I see.” So does that mean I have to wait with Roan until the assistant comes? Roan sat down comfortably on the wine-colored couch provided in the guest room and blew out a long puff of smoke. I wasn’t a smoker, but because there were so many men smoking while eating at Lynne’s restaurant, the smoke didn’t bother me that much. As I stood still in one corner of the room and looked at Roan, he motioned to the chair across from me. “Sit down, please. I didn’t call for a maid just now.” “Ah, yes.” Perhaps because he had reigned as the owner of a huge business for a long time, he seemed accustomed to giving orders to his subordinates. ‘Anyway, Roan is a man who looks more dangerous at night.’ Is this the power of age? I didn’t feel anything when I met the three brothers of this house. Now that I was face to face with Roan alone, a tension that I had never felt before seemed to float in the air. “Actually, I’ve heard a lot about Miss Jensen. You know I’m Daniel’s teacher, right?” “Yes.” “And that he’s been looking for Miss Jensen ever since Daniel packed up his business and got some money?” “Well, I’ve heard about it.” Roan was one of the characters who stood by Daniel’s side, from his rebellious days to his current growth. The cigarette smoke he exhaled into the air flowed out the wide open window. “Hmm. This is going to be a long story. You want to smoke?” Roan asked, cutting the end of a new cigar. I shook my head. “No, it’s okay. I can’t smoke.” “I see.” As if asking out of politeness, he wasted no time in telling the story.  “Actually, I never imagined he would be looking for Miss Jensen for so long.” he said, “I just thought of it as a childish child struggling because he couldn’t forget his first love.” Straight to the point, without a word. And an unexpected word. “Yes…” I blinked widely in confusion. “But it wasn’t.” Roan paused for a moment. “Daniel, that guy was that desperate.” “…….” “Now I understand. When I saw the way he looked at you… I understand why he hung on you like that. It’s not just because you were friends at the orphanage. Of course, it is true that it is an obsession and regret, but it seems that the young lady was more important than I thought.” Roan’s pale blue-gray eyes slowly sank along with the darkness that engulfed his surroundings. From the moment he first saw me, he seemed to have guessed what kind of person I was to Daniel. When Roan’s eyes turned to me again, he looked at me carefully as if he were valuing an item. Strangely, I didn’t find his gaze offensive. I was just dimly aware that he was not pleased to see me. He took a moment to tell me what he had realized. “To him, Miss Jensen is like an inseparable heart, and he finally found out. I never expected that.” “…….” “From what I heard, it looks like you said you would work here for just a few months and then return to where you lived…” At that time, Roan approached me and leaned in. I was taken aback for a moment as he suddenly narrowed the distance. The playful aura that had appeared when he saw his student during the day had disappeared. He looked down at me with a businessman’s face and an expression that looked a little like Daniel’s. “Let me give you some advice. If you’re going to run away again, you should really go somewhere he can’t find you.” His eyes seemed to have already penetrated my mind. “Because that’s when he’ll really go crazy.” “Run away…” I thought over Roan’s words in my mouth. “From the looks of it, Miss Jensen doesn’t plan on staying in this mansion with those boys for long.” “…….” “If you ever want to disappear without even a mouse or a bird noticing, just tell me. I will help you.” “Hmm. I don’t think Daniel will leave Mr. Roan alone if he finds out.” As I spoke quietly, Roan smiled with his arms crossed. “I’ve been rolling on this world for years, and you think that brat is going to be sloppy enough to realize what I’ve done? … This guy, is he serious? I frowned when I saw him obediently hiding me from the brothers in this mansion. It didn’t seem like he meant it as a joke. “Daniel is a guy who is going to be bigger. This is the guy who created a huge business that supported the kingdom with the lowest capital in four or five years. That guy will continue to grow, and eventually even the king will bow down to him. Now is not the time when status can solve everything.” With that, Roan made the shape of a gold coin between his thumb and forefinger. He smirked at the moon, looking like a rich villain in a superhero movie. “He’s spent three years looking for a woman, and I’m afraid it’s a waste of time and money. That time and money could have been used to grow a bigger top, one of those ridiculous arranged marriages the king is arranging now.” “…….” “But if Miss Jensen disappears again, it’s clear that he will be so obsessed with finding you and he will put everything aside. I don’t want to see that.” “… Then wouldn’t it be better to tie me up and lock me in a dungeon than to let me run away?” Roan curled the corners of his mouth as I narrowed my eyes and spoke defiantly. “I could force you to stay by Daniel’s side regardless, Miss Jensen, if that’s what I like, even if you’re a soulless scarecrow.” ……Is he crazy, does he even know what he’s talking about?
