I Married the Beautiful Female Protagonist In Order To Survive

chapter 53

53. Fight, Hit the Chest!

Niel’s perspective.

After all, it was I who suggested this morning that we shouldn’t trouble the young lady and Mr. Ogilid any further, so it’s only natural that they safely escorted me back. The nobles of the Great Ying Empire have already set up camp outside the ruins, waiting for the young lady’s return. Since I’m also a member of the young lady’s team, everyone seems to treat me, a mere maid, like a person of importance.

It’s a bit uncomfortable, but more than that, it’s a complex feeling unrelated to this.

To let myself, a weak maid named Niel, wait like I had just promised the young lady, is simply impossible.

So, after the young lady and Mr. Ogilid’s figures disappeared into the ruins for quite a while, Niel couldn’t sit still any longer.

“Um, it seems the young lady left behind something important! I’ll deliver it right away! You can’t enter the ruins, so don’t worry about me!”

Without waiting for the Great Ying Empire’s garrison to respond, Niel, with an anxious voice, hurriedly ran into the ruins until she was somewhat out of breath, then stopped while patting her chest and gasping for air.

Then, realizing what she had been doing from this morning until now, she looked around at the lush greenery and the broken walls, sighing deeply with a somewhat nervous heart.

“Sigh…”

How could the young lady possibly forget something? Even if she did, Mr. Ogilid would immediately remind her with a “prophecy.” And how could I possibly be going back on my word to find the young lady? It’s just that I wanted to be alone, after all, even if I shamelessly followed the young lady, I would only be a nuisance to them both.

Because I’ve always been unlucky, even yesterday, my excessive curiosity caused trouble for the young lady, and every time, Mr. Ogilid had to prophesy and explain for me.

And surely, the young lady also wanted to find a chance to be alone with Mr. Ogilid, right? Having served the young lady for a long time, I can still detect such a level of disguise from her. Mr. Ogilid, cloaked in a layer of “misunderstanding,” is a priest skilled in prophecy. Compared to a useless, unlucky maid like me, the young lady, obviously a distinguished “genius of the Great Ying Empire,” is a much better match.

Daydreaming me is just like a fool.

“Let’s go back…”

Niel forces a smile, planning to return to the camp and wait obediently.

However, just as she takes a step, accompanied by a chill on her back, Niel suddenly feels as if a shadow just flashed behind her!

It couldn’t possibly be the young ladies! They had entered the ruins early on! Just as Nell turned around to take a look, her body lost balance due to a sudden ache from an impact, and she was kicked to the ground.

“Cough cough…”

What appeared in her line of sight was not some monster from the ruins! It was a human, just like herself, pointing something at her!

Her golden hair was disheveled, and her once beautiful and expensive dress was now dusty and stained with mud. As she was kicked down, a sinister gaze that sent shivers down her spine fixed on her. That familiar look in the eyes suddenly reminded Nell of who this haggard, cold-eyed woman was!

“Miss Louise Twenty-three…”

It was Miss Louise Twenty-three, the young ladies’ rival, but… but she had lost the duel, hadn’t she? Why was she still here!?

Before Nell could even ask, Louise Twenty-three grabbed her by the collar and hoisted her up.

There was no kindness in her voice.

“Kefir, where is that woman?”

“!”

“What… What do you want to do to the young lady!?”

Nell realized in an instant: Louise Twenty-three meant harm to Miss Kefir! Nell didn’t know what she was holding, but she instinctively felt a threat of death.

Louise Twenty-three’s cold smirk made Nell tremble.

“It’s her fault I ended up like this, I can’t even go home and have to flee to this desolate place… I want her dead!”

Immediately after, Louise Twenty-three threw Nell down, and as Nell coughed in pain from the ache in her back, Louise Twenty-three pressed on with her questioning.

“This has nothing to do with a lowly maid like you, you came with her, didn’t you? Where is she!?”

“Cough cough… I don’t know!”

Louise Twenty-three was definitely up to no good against the young ladies! Since Nell couldn’t even protect the young lady, then at least… at least she shouldn’t cause her any trouble!

“Speak up!”

Louise Twenty-three lifted her foot and brought it down on Nell’s waist as she lay on the ground. The pain was so intense it felt like everything inside her was about to come out, but Nell still clenched her teeth and repeated in an almost off-tune cry!

“I… don’t know! Please, please honor your bet!”

“What do you, a servant, understand! It’s all because of that woman! It’s that wretch who made me like this! I want revenge! If I can’t have what I want, neither can Kefir!”

Another kick landed on her chest, and the suffocating sensation made it impossible for Nell to even utter a rebuttal.

“Cough… don’t… know…”

“Damn it, even a servant disgusts me! You’re definitely trained by that wretch. Then I’ll send you off first! After all, there’s plenty of time to kill the other two later!”

The kicking stopped, and Louise Twenty-three walked away, but… she pointed that unknown thing at Nell.

Instinct told Nell that a premonition of death was coming. It also made her grow increasingly resentful of herself amidst the pain.

Indeed, she was so unlucky and useless. She should have just stayed obediently in the camp, but instead, her whimsical thoughts led her to such an unfortunate and dangerous situation…

If she were somewhat useful like the young lady, would she not be so unlucky; would she not have to bother Mr. Ogelid every time to foresee and bail her out; would she… perhaps have a little bit of… a chance to compete?

Instead of being like now, where even her existence was a nuisance.

I crave the power that would make even Mr. Euclid take notice!

Aiming at my own thing, it seemed as if flames burst forth, and Nell also faintly felt something within her body, her heart, perhaps deep within her soul… Something impatient, about to break free from its restraints!

However, in an instant, a familiar voice dispelled all of Nell’s “misconceptions.”

【Bang】

The object held by Louis XXIII burst into flames, something struck near my ear!

Following that, was the unmistakable voice of Nell.

“Louis XXIII! You idiot! Dare to hit me! Strike me in the chest!”

In my line of sight, Mr. Euclid, who appeared out of nowhere not far away, was panting, flipping the middle finger at Louis XXIII.
