I Made The World Mutate

Chapter 1135: Guarding Separate Sectors (Part 2)

Zhu Ke simultaneously greeted Xiao Mu and Wang Yuan to avoid disputes between them.

Under his greeting, Xiao Mu and Wang Yuan both walked together into the Grand Hall.

Xiao Mu glanced at Wang Yuan as they walked. He had certainly discerned the meaning in Wang Yuan's words but didn't mind it, "Wang Yuan, Your Grand Elder's concerns are reasonable, but I, Xiao Mu, believe I can still contribute something for the Eastern Desolation. Although the Heavenly Court's power is formidable, we need not fear. The Divine Spirits of the Retribution System cannot do much to us."

"Moreover, Lady Shenfeng expressly instructed me, if we can't withstand, we should call upon them for reinforcement, and they will promptly come to our aid. So, Your Grand Elder's worries are indeed excessive. Even though the Heavenly Court is strong, we are not weak either."

Wang Yuan, upon hearing of Lady Shenfeng, was somewhat awestruck. He served under the Human Emperor, and Lady Shenfeng did too, moreover, with a much higher status than his own. Additionally, he was naturally aware of Lady Shenfeng's prowess.

Nevertheless, despite this, he was still somewhat unwilling, pausing slightly before continuing, "Does Lady Shenfeng even know of our circumstances here? Why doesn't she personally come to support? If she were to come personally, wouldn't the issues of the Eastern Desolation be swiftly resolved? Who among the ordinary True Gods could be her match?"

"Haha!"

Upon hearing this, Xiao Mu immediately laughed. This Wang Yuan repeatedly targeted him, stirring his displeasure. He intended to mock Wang Yuan and said, "Your Grand Elder also truly overestimates this place in the Eastern Desolation. Lady Shenfeng has far greater matters to attend to, while this insignificant Eastern Desolation, truth be told, is hardly anything. It's just sufficient for me, Xiao Mu, to come and lend some aid, and there's no need for Lady Shenfeng."

"You..."

Wang Yuan said in anger, unable to resist glaring at Xiao Mu.

Xiao Mu remained calm and collected, looking back with an expression of complete indifference to Wang Yuan.

"Both of you, both of you, sigh, let's all say less. Grand Elder Xiao, your support to the Eastern Desolation is much appreciated by both Old Wang and myself. Old Wang, Grand Elder Xiao is here to aid us, we must not be disrespectful to him."

Zhu Ke worried that the two might fight, hurriedly stepping forward to mediate and separate them.

Wang Yuan, hot-tempered, snorted and said nothing more.

Xiao Mu withdrew his gaze from Wang Yuan, not pursuing further. If the other didn't provoke him, he wouldn't provoke the other; but if provoked, he'd respond unkindly.

The idea of sacrificing oneself for the greater good by enduring humiliation in silence was non-existent for Xiao Mu.

"Grand Elder Xiao, please have a seat. Old Wang, you sit as well. Let's sit down and talk slowly."

Zhu Ke, seeing them separate, was relieved and promptly invited them to sit.

Xiao Mu sat down indifferently, and Wang Yuan, though displeased, grudgingly followed suit, with Zhu Ke sitting between them, concerned that another conflict might arise that he wouldn't be able to stop in time.

Someone served tea, and Zhu Ke invited Xiao Mu to enjoy it.

Xiao Mu had no interest in savoring the tea, set down the teacup, and inquired about the situation of the war in the Eastern Desolation, "Grand Elder Zhu, after receiving your call for help, I quickly prepared and came over. Could you tell me what the current situation of the war in the Eastern Desolation is?"

Upon hearing this, Zhu Ke became serious, set down his teacup, and explained to Xiao Mu in detail, "Speaking of the Eastern Desolation's war, it is indeed urgent. A while ago, both Old Wang and I were besieged by True Gods from the Heavenly Court."

"Besieged?" Xiao Mu frowned. The term besieged indicated that the Heavenly Court dispatched a considerable number of True Gods to the Eastern Desolation, otherwise, Zhu Ke wouldn't use such a term.

Zhu Ke said, "Both of us encountered a total of six True Gods besieging us. Fortunately, these six True Gods were not exceedingly powerful. Three were in the early stage and the other three in the mid-stage."

"Old Wang and I, initially, weren't about to be injured by them, but due to their sudden appearance, and with neither of us prepared, they managed to successfully ambush us."

"Fortunately, both Old Wang and I possess significant strength, allowing us to escape successfully, suffering injuries but not death."

At this point, Wang Yuan couldn't resist speaking again, spitefully stating, "Six True Gods from the Heavenly Court appeared in the Eastern Desolation, yet Headquarters only sent one person to support. Do they think that the three of us can overcome six of them?"

Zhu Ke involuntarily smiled, not contradicting Wang Yuan this time, as he evidently shared similar sentiments.

The manpower sent by Headquarters was insufficient; Xiao Mu alone coming to aid couldn't resolve the fundamental issue.

Xiao Mu ignored this and continued his query, "After that incident, did the Heavenly Court launch any further attacks?"

"That aspect, thankfully, is fine."

Zhu Ke expressed relief, "For reasons unknown, after that attack, the Heavenly Court hasn't launched another assault. Otherwise, Old Wang and I wouldn't have been able to endure."

"It's merely a temporary reprieve, but the Heavenly Court wouldn't remain inactive indefinitely."

Wang Yuan interjected sharply, "Perhaps the Heavenly Court is biding its time. Since they failed to kill Old Zhu and me last time, allowing our escape, they are likely gathering strength, possibly waiting for other experts to arrive, with the aim of killing Old Zhu and me in the next siege."

Xiao Mu glanced at Wang Yuan, clearly in disagreement with Wang Yuan's notion. If the Heavenly Court intended to attack, they would have done so again by now. The six individuals confronting Wang Yuan and Zhu Ke comprised three mid-stage True Gods of equal Realm to Zhu Ke and Wang Yuan, with no real hindrance if they sought to attack.

The current lack of continued attacks evidently had its reason.

Regarding that reason, Xiao Mu pondered and suddenly looked at Wang Yuan, asking coldly, "Could it be possible that the Heavenly Court is preoccupied, and those six strong individuals were divided up after attacking you, to support other locations?"

"This..."

Wang Yuan was momentarily speechless, caught off guard by Xiao Mu's question, unsure how to respond.

However, Zhu Ke's eyes lit up, delightedly saying, "Grand Elder Xiao reminded me of what I overlooked. It seems the Heavenly Court cannot consistently dispatch six True Gods to oversee us."

"The Heavenly Court, although powerful, is not yet sufficiently strong to eradicate the Human world directly. Here in the Eastern Desolation, while they intend to fight, other places also require battles, and it's impossible to station all their forces solely in the Eastern Desolation."

Xiao Mu remained composed, with substantial experience battling the Heavenly Court, he understood their behavioral patterns well, "The failed assault in the Eastern Desolation clearly led to other arrangements by the Heavenly Court. Grand Elder Zhu, Grand Elder Wang, instead of worrying about another attack, why not prepare in advance?"

"The Heavenly Court has spies capable of anticipating our actions, and we likewise have our own, capable of detecting theirs through careful investigation."

"Therefore, it's better to prepare ahead. Since Headquarters sent me to help guard the Eastern Desolation, please arrange and specify the tasks for me."

Wang Yuan began to view Xiao Mu differently. Initially harboring hostility, upon hearing Xiao Mu's words, he couldn't help but regard him with newfound respect, and his enmity quickly dissipated.

Zhu Ke was somewhat surprised, yet simultaneously smiled, remarking to Xiao Mu, "Grand Elder Xiao is extraordinary indeed. Since you volunteered to assist in guarding the Eastern Desolation, I won't hold back."

"Currently in the Eastern Desolation, with only Old Wang and myself, we divided it into two parts for guarding. I guard the left side while Old Wang guards the right."

"Now, with Grand Elder Xiao here, the three of us can divide the Eastern Desolation into three parts, creating a tripod stance where each of us guards one area, facilitating mutual support."

With that, he produced a map of the Eastern Desolation, starting the territorial division. He divided the Eastern Desolation into three parts, forming a triangle from south to north, ultimately delineating three areas.

These three areas had Zhu Ke himself safeguarding the western part and the southwest direction, assigning Wang Yuan to guard the southeast direction and eastern part, while Xiao Mu assumed responsibility for the northern region.
