I just wanted to watch TV! But now, I’m in a Fantasy World!

Chapter 44: A Christian Necromancer

Libra wanted to shout and curse out at Thane. But this man controlled the very strange throne that was built for him. With this Throne, Thane could rule and judge over him!

"Then... consider this, Conqueror! The Bible states that God will not give you a challenge that you cannot overcome. Now, I am given over to you! I was made weak so that you cannot overcome me! But now, you have me so that you can overcome the others! There are eleven more of us. And one more, that now stands above us!" Libra explained.

"Really? Quoting scripture to me, a Five-Talent Christian?" Thane glared at him.

"First of all, I have already overcome! The race I was called to run in has already passed. And because of Him that is now in me, I am confident of overcoming any challenges, for He has overcome! I know you are trying to manipulate me to keep you, or even use that soul-feeding thing to feed you."

Libra was silenced.

"However... This does offer an interesting perspective on the journey. In my previous life of toil, you serpents kept biting our heels. Now, I can rule over you and even command you... Hmmm.."

Thane thought as he kept reading and thought about what this power meant. The Celestial TV gave no further explanation for it.

"...You said there are twelve more like you? You are Libra. Does that mean the other angels, the other 'stars' are also members of the Zodiac?"

"...Yes. We are the ones who influenced the stars. You have read of Satan; you could call us his lieutenants. We led the stars with us in rebellion until our defeat against Michael."

"Well, that does sound interesting... I'm sure I'd win, but I now have freedom, real freedom to decide how I'd win... If you are given over to me, then perhaps the design and direction that fully brings joy uses you. Alright. I'm convinced. You can stay. But don't you dare think that I will feed you with these souls!" Thane answered.

"But Conqueror! For those who can harness the soul, they can practice the Dark Arts known as Necromancy."

"Necromancy? Are you serious? I'm a child of God!" Thane blurted.

"While I liked being a Necromancer in the Diablo game series, it's a different thing to be a real one here!"

"What? Diablo?" Libra's eyes turned strange.

"Ne–never mind. The point is, why would I want to be a practitioner of the dark arts? How would that benefit me?"

"He... stuttered?" Libra saw Thane's reaction. There was also a hidden question that Thane asked.

"I must make him use my powers to the greatest and fullest extent! Only then can I regain my form!" Libra used every ounce of whatever angelic capabilities he had to think of what the word Diablo meant. What did it mean, over seven thousand years ago?

Libra recalled the phrase Diablo. Wasn't that rather famous back then? Hadn't he also played this game?

Finally, Libra recalled the unboring days of his sealed state. There in the Abyss, he played Diablo!

"You could summon skeletons... Like in Diablo. Wasn't that fun?" Libra tempted.

Thane's eyebrows were raised.

"Skeleton summoning? Hmmn..."

"Hey... how do you know about Diablo?" Thane asked all of a sudden.

"Conqueror... I am a supernatural being. We were bound in the Abyss, but the WiFi signal that humans invented has reached the depths of that Abyss."

"...You guys have internet?!"

"Of course. We can intercept radio waves at first, then soon, there was the TV, and finally, we got the internet. Soon, we studied it and learned how to peer into it as if we were computers ourselves."

"What do you even use the internet for?"

"Well, you-you know... Fallen angel things... Evil things..."

"Evil things?"

"Trolling in social media, playing online and being toxic, telling our enemies we've slept with their moms..." Libra listed what he had done.

He began to speak of many horrifying things. Soon, there were things that Thane was shocked to hear.

Masquerading as Christians to 'correct' a Christian and offer counter-theological arguments.

Commenting on how Chris Tomlin's copy-paste keys have been overused.

Libra listed his actions that were designed to create hate in the Real World. It took some recollection on Libra's part, but he did list many odd things he did on the Internet.

"Really? Those our your 'evil things'?" Thane air quoted.

"We can only commit sins that we were allowed to... So spewing hate and making people hate each other online was the only thing we were allowed to do. And frankly, Conqueror, we could even draw a Christian further from God by letting hate spread."

Thane's eyes grew strange.

"So you guys are partially responsible for trolling, enticing hate on the internet? Like... even in fandoms? Like... Like... you guys are the ones that make hateful and divisive questions like: who is stronger, Superman or World Breaker Hulk? Or the classic, Naruto versus Luffy?"

Libra sensed a rare anger from Thane on that last question. Despite all Libra's attacks against Christianity, it did not affect Thane. But why was Naruto Versus Luffy important?!

All throughout his battle against Thane, even when Thane was about to die, Thane was never angry. But there was something rather sensitive to Thane's question that fueled his anger. Libra was scared. So Libra decided to give a vague answer.

"...We do- erm... as part of the... allotment of task... that fallen angels have... I would... categorize that as a part of the task, that we may or may not have been allowed to do... As the fallen angels bound in the Abyss..."

Thane gave Libra a penetrating look.

"...Maybe you should really go to hell."

"Wait! Conqueror Thane! I... I... I can help you! Think about it! You would be... A Christian Necromancer!"

"...Yeah, that thing's not gonna fly. I don't think I want to use your abilities."

"The souls that you capture retain their abilities once you summon them! If you harness the souls, you could create minions who will act on your behalf, giving you time... to watch TV!"

"Hmmm..." Thane's eyes lit up.

"Also... This ability of mine has many uses! You are strong enough and you are pure enough. Since the blood of the Son has not been shed in this world, they follow the Old Covenant. But you can also help them! My ability to call the blood from the ground, can also perform a spell to pay for their sins! Should you find a man worthy to be your ally, the pay for his sins! Fight all the blood tied to him or her! And that is what I mean to be a Christian Necromancer! You are a summoner of the Light! The Valley of the Dry Bones."

"Hmmm....Watch TV... Valley of the Dry Bones... Sounds biblical. I like it!"

Libra sighed a great sigh of relief.

"You mentioned blood from the ground... You mean to say, the curse of God against Cain?"

"Yes. The beasts that were summoned to fight you and your allies, including the Cyclops they were not true souls. They were only blood given shape. You know that from the beginning, blood has cried out. Abel's blood cried from the ground, and judgment came. It is written: 'Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed.' Blood spilled upon the earth is a curse that echoes. It has eternal memory. It demands repayment."

"Ahh, Yes. I recall. What a weird application of that theology. So all that you summoned, which I fought, killed, and stored, were formed from their blood?"

"Yes. Those monsters do not have souls. For only the blood cries. Their bodies rise, molded from memory and curse, empty shells with no spirit within."

"What about the weapons? How did you recreate those?"

"Oh, you didn't know? In this world, weapons and armor can be 'bound' to a person. You somehow just have the ability to unbind it if certain conditions are met with your TV."

"I see... Now, how do I summon skeletons?" Thane asked.

"Master, I cannot divulge such knowledge to you. You must have heard that we were punished for bestowing the magic of angels on mortals!"

"Oh, so the Book of Enoch was true!"

"It is! I cannot do so. The paths of Necromancy, you must unearth yourself."

"You're right. I should just watch TV."

"What?"

FWIP!

Suddenly, the chains binding Libra's form dissolved. The radiant bindings evaporated with a faint shimmer.

Libra was stunned. His spirit was free to reign once more! He glanced at the man who freed him, who was now seated on the ground.

"You're… releasing me?"

"Yep." Thane sat unbothered as he opened the Celestial TV.

"Seems kind of rude to keep you chained up like a chandelier forever. Besides, I can sense you're weaker than my WiFi signal back home. You're not breaking out of this TV, even if you tried. And honestly…" he smiled faintly, almost wistful.

Libra couldn't move. He was free, but he couldn't move.

There was something lifted from him. Something he didn't know that still bound him.

"My... chains are gone?" Libra couldn't understand the sensation he had.
