Chapter 130 Siblings, Equally Savage
Twenty-fourth, Little New Year's Eve.
Wang Lan wore a down jacket for the first time, bundled up like a panda as he stepped out the door.
In truth, fire-attribute Star Martial Warriors weren't afraid of the cold; if they felt the temperature drop, a slight surge of Star Power circulating through their bodies felt even better than being covered in heat packs.
Because he was riding an electric scooter to his aunt's house, Wang Lan was dressed so warmly. His aunt had called that morning, inviting Wang Lan over for dinner.
He skillfully entered the apartment complex and parked his scooter in the underground garage of his aunt's building. Upstairs, he punched in the code. As the door opened, two pairs of wide eyes stared at him simultaneously.
Wang Lan was slightly taken aback, surprised to see Hu Feifei at his aunt's place.
"Wang Lan, you're here? Change into your own slippers; don't get the floor dirty," Song Jia said, her tone casual but carrying the air of the mistress of the house.
"Jiajia, with the floor like this... is there even any space left to get dirty?" Wang Lan said speechlessly, scanning the floor littered with potato chip bags, nutshells, and paper airplanes.
"It's a bit messy, but I'll clean it up in a bit," Song Jia's face turned red as she quickly assembled the interlocking toy in front of her.
Hu Feifei, however, had already put down what she was holding and hurriedly stood up, timidly approaching Wang Lan.
"Feifei, how do you know Jiajia? Don't you recognize your Big Brother anymore?" Wang Lan asked with a smile as he gently ruffled her hair.
Unexpectedly, Hu Feifei suddenly hugged Wang Lan's waist. "Big Brother, after I was discharged from the hospital, you never came to see me... A few days ago, I missed you and tried calling, but I couldn't get through."
"Those few days, Big Brother was training in the practice area, and my phone was switched off."
However, such a warm scene caused a pang of jealousy in Song Jia's heart.
The affection between Song Jia and Wang Lan was definitely not something ordinary cousins could compare to. Wang Lan had been brought home by Wang Ling, and aside from his aunt, he had no other relatives. Thus, Song Jia became Wang Lan's only sister.
It was much the same for Song Jia. After her father had an accident during an experiment, Wang Qi hadn't even let Song Zifeng's family know of her own existence, let alone Song Jia's. To Song Jia, the only family she had in the world was her mother and Wang Lan.
Although the two occasionally bickered, their affection for each other was incredibly strong. The last dangerous incident had made it evident that Song Jia trusted Wang Lan enormously when she was scared, wishing she could always hide in his embrace.
Sometimes Wang Lan would compare Song Jia to Jiang Xinchen. Though both were like sisters to him, Jiang Xinchen was well-behaved and sensible, while Song Jia was rather haughty.
But now, seeing her good friend hugging Wang Lan so intimately and even calling him "Big Brother"? My position is clearly threatened!
You, Wang Lan! You already have this princess, yet you dare to flirt with someone else's sister? Is this princess not cute anymore?
Angry, Song Jia stopped playing with her toy; CLATTER! It fell apart instantly. She hopped off the sofa, walked over in her slippers, pulled Hu Feifei away, and hid her behind herself.
Raising her head, she gave Wang Lan a look that was both sharp and adorably blank, leaving him utterly baffled.
"Wang Lan, Feifei's so young, how could you even think of laying a hand on her? Are you even human?"
Wang Lan's expression froze for a moment. Though initially perplexed, his face quickly darkened.
What am I going to do with this sister? At such a young age... to think that... Have elementary school students really reached this point?
"Jiajia, Big Brother didn't bully me," Feifei timidly tugged at Song Jia's clothes as she spoke.
"You don't understand. Bullying doesn't have to be direct; there are many ways to bully someone. Direct bullying is beating you up. Indirect bullying is getting someone else to beat you up. And the most despicable kind is to deceive you.
The teacher just taught us last month that we girls must learn to be vigilant and always be careful to protect ourselves. Some people show a caring face, yet who knows what they're plotting deep down..."
This is getting more and more outrageous... Listening to her, what does she take me for? I can't stand this!
"Jiajia, Big Brother's face is turning dark; he's unhappy."
"It's fine, I'm used to it. How did you and Jiajia get to know each other, Feifei? I remember you two aren't classmates, right?" Wang Lan asked, changing the subject.
"Well, let me tell you! Feifei is now my classmate and my deskmate," Song Jia declared. "I'm warning you, Hu Feifei is under my protection. You're not allowed to have any ideas about her. Otherwise, Humph!"
"Feifei, you're at Duo Lun School too?" Wang Lan asked in astonishment. Duo Lun School's annual tuition fees were quite expensive. Even with Hu Qing working for the police, considering the previous impoverished state of Hu Qing's family, it seemed unlikely they could afford such fees.
"Nope, I'm at Tang Town Elementary School," Hu Feifei said, confused.
"Duo Lun School? That place is history, okay?" Song Jia said scornfully. "Have you forgotten what happened last time? So many people died; no one could let Duo Lun School off the hook. Anyway, the headmaster and the school board were exposed for many crimes and got arrested by the guards.
My mom transferred me to Tang Town Elementary School before the start of last semester, so I've been in fourth grade there since school began. Honestly, whether it's a prestigious school or a regular one, they're all pretty much the same.
At first, a few clueless fools bullied us transfer students, but they quieted down after a few beatings. Feifei transferred after National Day, and I really don't get why those idiots love picking on new students so much.
They dared to call Feifei a 'little nun' and made her cry. As someone so filled with a sense of justice, how could I possibly tolerate that?"
"Then you gave them another good beating?" Wang Lan asked nervously.
"No!" Song Jia shook her head resolutely. "One beating wouldn't be enough. I beat them for three days!"
"Seriously!" Wang Lan was momentarily at a loss for words to praise Song Jia and could only raise a thumb in a gesture of slight respect. "You behave like this at school? Does Aunt know?"
"How could I let her know? I gave each of those dummies a hundred yuan to buy snacks. They scurried off laughing like they'd gotten a great deal. But I heard they got another beating from their parents when they went home."
"And why was that?"
"Simple. They didn't spend the hundred yuan on snacks or hide it. Instead, they bought a toy and swaggered home with it. Then, the next day, their parents came to school asking if the hundred yuan came from me.
You know what I did then? Could I admit to it? Of course not! I denied any knowledge. So, those dummies got beaten by their parents, who accused them of stealing money from home. Sigh..."
After listening to Song Jia, Wang Lan shivered. "This was all part of your plan, wasn't it?"
"As if!"
"When you beat them up, you made sure it happened where no one would see. But everyone knows you had a fight with them. I guess there's a missing piece to the story," Wang Lan said teasingly, stroking his chin while looking at Song Jia, who was holding a plushie on the sofa.
"You even know that? After I beat them up, I reported them to the teacher. I'm still a good little student in the teacher's eyes... But I didn't make it sound too serious. I just said they were trying to bully me and pushed me, but didn't actually hit me."
"Naturally. If you'd made it sound serious, the teacher might have called their parents. Then, word could've reached Aunt. You wouldn't want that. You just needed the teacher to know there was bad blood between you and them."
"All I did was ensure they wouldn't dare trouble me again. It was legitimate self-defense!"
"Then you secretly gave them money to set them up."
"I'm just a girl, and there were three or four of them. What if they sought revenge later? Giving them money was like an apology. I couldn't do it openly, so of course, it had to be done privately."
"You had it all planned out from the start! Don't try to wriggle out of it!" Wang Lan tapped Song Jia's forehead lightly and said, "This strategy is one I taught you. You might fool others with these tricks, but can you fool me?
"For ordinary kids to suddenly have an extra hundred yuan for toys, their parents would definitely get suspicious. They'd naturally say it was from you, and all three or four of them would stick to the same story.
"You even had another backup plan, but thankfully you didn't take things too far. If you had admitted to giving them the money when their parents asked, they would have been accused of extortion. They might even have been expelled from school, right?
"Your classmates all knew about your conflict with them, and so did your teacher. With that setup, any explanation they gave would be worthless. How can you be so adept with such schemes at such a young age?"
Song Jia pouted and turned her face away. "If their parents hadn't had a fairly decent attitude and tone, I would've boldly admitted it right in front of the teacher. And I would've added that they cornered me and snatched the money from me. Humph!"
Wang Lan and Song Jia both knew exactly what was going on, but Hu Feifei, who was standing to the side, was completely confused. Her curious eyes darted back and forth between Wang Lan and Song Jia.

The lock turned, and the front door opened.
Aunt Wang Qi appeared at the doorway dressed in a black suit.
"Mom! You're back! You must be tired. Let me get your slippers..." Song Jia instantly ran over, eagerly trying to curry favor.
"And next, my little Jiajia is trying to subtly find out when Mom got home and how long I was standing at the door, right?" Wang Qi's smile was as radiant as spring sunshine, but the smile on Song Jia's face gradually faded.
Suddenly, Song Jia turned to Wang Lan and glared. "Wang Lan, did you set me up?"
"I didn't say a word. You confessed everything yourself."
"Mom has been so busy with company matters lately, I didn't realize my good daughter had unknowingly accomplished such a big thing... We'll have a good chat tonight," Wang Qi said.
"Auntie, hello... Auntie, Jiajia only argued with those people to help me. Could you please not scold her? If anyone needs to be scolded, please scold me..." Hu Feifei pleaded.
"Ah, what a sweet little girl. Are you Jiajia's deskmate? What's your name?"
"I'm Hu Feifei! Big Brother Wang Lan knows me too."
Wang Qi looked up at Wang Lan.
"Her brother and I are friends. His name is Hu Qing, and he works for the police now. Feifei was unwell for a long time and spent a lot of time in the hospital, but she's fully recovered now," Wang Lan explained.
"By the way, Feifei, how's your Star Power control coming along? Do you practice regularly at home?"
"I practice every day. My brother says I'm pretty good at it, but I still need to work hard. Right now, I can only achieve 3.0 mixed control." As she said this, a sweet smile spread across Hu Feifei's face.
"Wait a second!" Suddenly, Song Jia looked at Hu Feifei, baffled. "Feifei, you're a Star Martial Warrior?"
"Yep. I awakened at the end of September this year. I only went back to school after I gained full control."
"You... you're a Star Martial Warrior, and you still let them bully you? Why didn't you fight back when they pushed you?"
"My brother said... Star Martial Warriors aren't supposed to attack ordinary people," Hu Feifei stated matter-of-factly.
