Chapter 24
Pirates
The next day, Sea Serpent Island was still calm and peaceful, with a gentle sea breeze.
After eating and drinking his fill and typing out the words, Roger once again immersed himself in the Mysterious Sea.
Instead of immediately exploring the cave, Roger went to the seaside to clean his chain armor and iron boots.
He wasn’t wealthy yet, so as long as these dirty equipment weren’t broken, cleaning them would suffice for now.
After finishing the cleaning, Roger equipped both the chain armor and iron boots.
Then, he opened the detailed information of his character panel to check his equipment status:
【Title: Roger】
【Weapon: Steel Sword (Right)/Dreadful Fiend Claw (Left)】
【Equipment: Chain Armor/Deathly Black Robe/Iron Boots】
【Accessories: Amethyst Ring (Left)/Rock Ring (Right)】
In terms of weapons, the Mysterious Sea was quite realistic, allowing dual-wielding or even more, but carrying too many weapons would affect combat effectiveness, so dual-wielding was the maximum.
As for equipment, Roger hadn’t fully explored it yet, but it seemed that the chain armor could be worn under the black robe.
Very beaver-like. 🦫
The most unreasonable aspect for Roger was the accessories, which could only be worn in pairs.
I clearly have ten fingers!
Plus ten toes!
And one… well, forget it, it’s too big to wear.
In any case, it’s very unreasonable!
But aside from this issue, Roger finally had a decent game image.
A pixelated figure wearing a black robe, looking quite cool.
After tidying up his image by the seaside, Roger turned his head satisfactorily, ready to leave.
Bang!
The sound of a gunshot suddenly rang out.
Roger furrowed his brow, and an exclamation mark appeared above his pixelated figure’s head.
“The gunshot just now seems to have come from the town…” Roger’s game character provided a hint.
Could it be part of the storyline?
Better go and check it out.
Roger quickly headed towards the town, but not forgetting to save the game at this moment.
………………..
At this time, in the town of Sea Serpent Island, a group of ferocious pirates had taken control of the island’s residents.
The leader had a scar on his face, disheveled hair, and held a flintlock pistol. Several of his henchmen stood beside him, pointing their guns at the islanders.
“Listen carefully, I’ll ask again. Did a group of people come to this island before? Did their ship have this flag pattern?” The pirate leader’s face revealed a malicious gleam as he took out a piece of paper with a design on it, scanning the crowd of islanders.
The islanders, seeing this situation, remained silent out of fear. They were not protecting the previous group of people, but they genuinely didn’t know.
A young man, filled with anger, stood up. “Damn pirates! The kingdom’s fleet will surely…”
Bang!
Before he could finish his sentence, one of the pirate leader’s henchmen standing beside him fired a shot, ending the young man’s life.
The pirate leader sneered contemptuously at the scene. “Young man, your courage is commendable, but pirates don’t show mercy to fools.”
The muzzle of the gun shifted to the head of the innkeeper on the left. “You, answer my question!”
With the gun pointed at him, the innkeeper trembled in fear and quickly begged for mercy. “Sir, please, don’t kill me! Although I haven’t seen the people you mentioned, I can tell you who might know!”
The pirate leader impatiently waved the gun, urging him to speak. “Nielsen! He lives by the docks. He must know the people you’re talking about!”
The innkeeper saw a glimmer of hope and hurriedly replied, fearing that he would be shot if he took too long.
“Point him out,” the pirate leader commanded.
The innkeeper complied and, looking at the islanders behind him, they stared at him with anger and disgust.
Living on the same island, this guy was willing to betray his fellow islanders without hesitation.
The innkeeper noticed their gazes, but he didn’t care. He thought, “I’m about to die anyway. Why should I care about you?”
Before he could find Nielsen, the old man stepped forward, facing the pirates.
“It’s him!” the innkeeper exclaimed excitedly.
Upon receiving a signal from the pirate leader, Old Nielsen was bound and brought forward.
“Old man, tell me the answers,” the pirate leader said, his gaze icy cold.
Old Nielsen reluctantly revealed everything he knew to ensure the safety of the islanders, even though he didn’t want to help the pirates.
Those people have nothing to do with Sea Serpent Island. It would be insane to let the islanders die just to hide their whereabouts.
After listening to Old Nielsen’s words, a thin man beside the pirate leader approached him and whispered a few words.
The pirate leader looked at him with surprise. “Are you sure? Garden Elf?”
The thin man nodded, confirming his words.
The pirate leader’s face twisted into an evil smile. “They must have escaped from those guys’ ship. Take it away and trade it with the Lizard of Evil. That freak loves tormenting rare things like this.”
“Now, let’s not leave anything valuable on this island. Prepare to leave quickly,” the pirate leader shouted to his subordinates.
However, at that moment, there was a commotion among his subordinates.
“Damn it! Where did this rat come from? It stole my money pouch!”
“Shoot it dead!”
Bang! Bang!
Several pirates were thrown into chaos by a sudden rat that appeared out of nowhere. It was a scene of chaos and confusion.
However, with two gunshots, it was not the rat that died, but two of the pirates.
“You damn fool, Dejes! You killed Laka!”
“You killed him!”
While the pirates were shocked by the mutual killings of their comrades, the companion who fired the shots did not hesitate to shoot again, causing two more pirates to fall dead on the spot.
What’s going on?
The pirate leader frowned and was about to go and investigate when he heard a soft snickering sound next to him, the sound of a blade cutting through flesh.
The pirate leader’s heart skipped a beat, and his years of experience made him quickly raise his gun.
But in the next moment, he felt a cool sensation on his neck.
A cold, sharp claw gently pressed against his carotid artery.
He looked down and saw a pale, almost lifeless claw.
Thunk.
At the same time, the bodies of the two subordinates fell to the ground, blood spurting from their necks.
“You, you…”
The pirate leader looked in horror at the figure in the black robe before him, too stunned to utter a word.
“Hello there,” Roger said casually, extending his hand to effortlessly take the pirate leader’s gun.
The pirate leader felt a chill down his spine, his fingers frozen.
This person… is a Transcendent!
Only those mysterious and unpredictable Transcendents possess such terrifying abilities!
“Boss!”
Several pirates noticed their leader’s situation amidst the chaos and quickly raised their guns, aiming at Roger.
Roger, sensing the pain in his neck, used a bit of force.
“Drop them!”
Feeling the pain in his neck, the pirate leader’s scalp tingled, and he hurriedly shouted to his subordinates.
