I Have a Girlfriend in Marvel

Chapter 66: The Man Who Lifted Thor’s Hammer

Old Bridge Town, a small settlement in the deserts of New Mexico, wasn't typically lively. With only a few hundred residents, the town survived on gas stations and some less-than-reputable industries.

But today, the town was buzzing. Last night, a multicolored streak of light fell from the sky, crashing into the desert and leaving a massive crater. At its center: a hammer.

Witnesses claimed the hammer looked ordinary, yet no one—no matter how strong—could lift it. Even attempts with trucks to tow it had failed.

The more impossible it seemed, the more people flocked to see it. Even elderly men in their 80s and 90s showed up, eager to try their luck.

When Su Ye and his group arrived, the scene before them was absurd: a line of trucks and cars attempting to pull the hammer from the crater. Among them was someone Su Ye recognized—Old Li, the school librarian.

"Old Li? What a coincidence!" Su Ye greeted him cheerfully. They'd just seen each other at the graduation ceremony a few days ago.

Old Li parked his truck, which now lacked a rear bumper, and looked over with a sigh. "On vacation, thought I'd check it out. But you? Shouldn't you be at home writing or drawing those… fan comics?"

Su Ye's face darkened. "It wasn't me! Those Batman and Spider-Man comics were just something I stumbled across online. Let me explain, Old Li!"

But Old Li either didn't hear or didn't care. He drove off, shaking his head and muttering, "These young punks, no dedication. No future!"

Annoyed, Su Ye returned to his group, muttering about Old Li's soda-drinking habits and how they weren't great for his health.

Meanwhile, nearly all the KOF teams had gathered near the hammer. The only ones absent were Mai Shiranui's group, who had detoured to New York.

The fighters, eyeing the hammer from afar, appeared intrigued.

"Think this is some kind of treasure? Like the Kusanagi Sword?" Benimaru Nikaido nudged Kyo Kusanagi.

The Kusanagi Sword, one of Japan's Three Sacred Treasures, was an heirloom of Kyo's family.

Kyo shook his head. "No idea, but if it is a treasure, you'll probably need to meet specific conditions to lift it. Otherwise, even a crane won't budge it."

Before Kyo could finish, Chang Koehan had already approached the hammer. Chains and iron ball in hand, he gave it a try.

"Hmmph!" He strained with all his might, his face turning red, but the hammer didn't budge.

"Ah, screw this!" Annoyed, he wrapped his chain around the hammer and started swinging his massive iron ball like a flail.

His iron ball, weighing nearly 888 kilograms, soared through the air.

With a loud clang, the ball hit the end of its chain and rebounded straight into Chang's face, knocking him down.

The crowd gasped, then chuckled as Chang sheepishly returned to his team, muttering, "Master, I couldn't lift it."

One by one, fighters stepped up to try their luck, including Su Ye. But none could move the hammer.

Su Ye wasn't surprised. Even Spider-Man in the MCU couldn't lift Mjölnir. Why would he?

Just as everyone was preparing to leave, Su Ye noticed Chin Gentsai snoozing nearby.

"Master Chin," Su Ye gently nudged him. "Don't you want to give it a try?"

Yawning, Chin waved it off. "Young people's games. I'll pass."

"But Master, you're still an 'active' fighter!" Su Ye teased, referencing Chin's decades of KOF appearances.

Chin sighed, shuffled over, and casually lifted the hammer as if it were a gourd of wine.

Everyone, including Su Ye, stood in stunned silence.
