Chapter 269 Flying to Italy
Sea City Airport, waiting hall.
"I can't believe you guys are going on vacation early," Lu Zheng said. "Leaving two days ahead of others means we can avoid the crowds."
Lin Wan nodded, flipping through the magazine in her hand, she casually asked, "What's our itinerary this time?"
"First to Italy. Tony said he wants to host us on his private island for two days, then we'll travel from south to north in Italy, check out the Roman Colosseum, visit the Pisa Leaning Tower, watch a Milan fashion show, and catch a game."
Lin Wan blinked, "Our time will be pretty packed then, won't it? Not visiting other European countries? It's rare for us to make a trip."
Lu Zheng shrugged, "There are too many sights. We can't spend all our time on the road, right?"
Lin Wan started counting on her fingers, "But I still want to see the Eiffel Tower, visit the White Swan Castle, go skiing in Switzerland, attend a concert in Vienna."
Lu Zheng, "..."
"You might need to save up two months of vacation then," Lu Zheng winked, then tempted, "Or just quit your job altogether, and we travel around the world?"
Lin Wan pouted, glanced at Lu Zheng, then consoled herself, "Forget it, just watching them in video clips is enough. I doubt it's that interesting in person."
Lu Zheng chuckled, but nodded, "Indeed, take Hangzhou West Lake, for instance, its promo looks beautiful. That's why I went there during my first year at university in Hai City, over the National Day holiday."
"You went to West Lake during National Day?" Lin Wan looked at Lu Zheng in shock, "You really have courage!"
Lu Zheng slapped Lin Wan's leg with a "smack," "Watch your mouth!"
Lin Wan ignored Lu Zheng's cheeky gesture, raised an eyebrow, smiled, and asked with interest, "And then what?"
Clearly, she wanted to hear Lu Zheng's funny story...
"Then what? All I saw was crowds," Lu Zheng said helplessly. "I was swept across the Broken Bridge by people, didn't even see what the bridge railing looked like."
"Hah—"
Lin Wan couldn't help but burst into laughter. Thinking of the crowded scenes at various attractions during the national holiday, it made sense.
"Exactly, exactly, now that people in Hua Country are well-off, the National Day break packs all domestic attractions full. It's better to travel abroad for a more comfortable and relaxing experience."
A voice from next to them spoke up. They turned to see a middle-aged woman with gold jewelry and jade speaking, "Italy is pretty favorable towards Hua Country, good environment, inexpensive stuff, and near the Mediterranean Sea. Choosing Italy for travel shows good taste."
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan exchanged looks, why do they always get schooled when traveling?
Thankfully, this time it was a compliment.
A young man sat next to the middle-aged woman, tall and handsome. Hearing her speak, he turned to look. His eyes showed a trace of amazement at Lin Wan and then envy at Lu Zheng.
"Are you going to Milan?" the middle-aged woman asked Lu Zheng, "It's Milan Fashion Week, perfect to buy the latest styles for your girlfriend. A tall, pretty girl like her looks good in anything, unlike me, an old pearl losing its luster, picking clothes needs care; most don't fit."
"Thank you!" Lin Wan could only smile and thank her.
Though the woman seemed to take care of herself, her figure and skin still bore signs of time. Lin Wan couldn't honestly flatter her.
"Is this your first time in Italy?" the middle-aged woman asked.
"Yes." Lin Wan nodded.
"Self-guided trip?"
"Exactly!"
"Then you better be careful," the middle-aged woman advised, "Foreign countries are different from Hua Country, areas like scenic spots, commercial zones, wealthy districts, and poor districts are distinct. Since they're close, don't take the wrong path during your visit."
Lu Zheng said, "I knew that about the United States, Italy's the same?"
The middle-aged woman pouted, "Capitalist countries are similar. Take 'Taken' for example, human traffickers hide right in Paris. If France is like this, Italy surely is too, even in Rome, Venice, Milan, let alone the smaller towns."
After a pause, the woman continued, "So just visit tourist and commercial areas, at night, choose crowded night markets. Always take transport back to the hotel, don't stroll around thinking you'll enjoy the breeze, it's risky."
"Oh, got it. Thanks, we'll be extra careful." Lu Zheng nodded, expressing gratitude.
"Sure," the woman smiled, "as long as you avoid remote areas, tourist zones are quite safe. After all, tourism is a lucrative industry everywhere."
…
Ticket-checking, boarding.
Lu Zheng whispered to Lin Wan, "Didn't expect this lady to be so warm-hearted."
Lin Wan snickered softly, whispered back, "Isn't it because of you."
Lu Zheng blinked, "Why because of me?"
Lin Wan raised an eyebrow, "Maybe because you're handsome?"
"Bah, I'm not a toyboy," Lu Zheng scoffed, "and judging by the guy beside her, I doubt I'm her type."
"You noticed?" Lin Wan laughed.
"What a surprise, it's obvious, how could I not notice," Lu Zheng said, "clearly not her son, so it's a lover."
"Hehe!" Lin Wan giggled, "Maybe she wants a change in taste?"
Lu Zheng grimaced, "Enough already!"
"She does maintain herself quite well," Lin Wan suppressed a laugh, continuing to tease.
…
Lu Zheng and Lin Wan chatting while finding their seats.
"What a coincidence!"
In the seat next to them, the middle-aged woman waved at them.
Lu Zheng, "..."
Lin Wan, "..."
Feeling like they've been caught gossiping, thankfully their voices were low.
The middle-aged woman hadn't expected Lu Zheng and Lin Wan had booked first-class seats, her eyes scanned them, noting their average clothing, yet they weren't short on money.
First-class seats were all individual, spacious but when Lu Zheng booked, there were no window seats left, only four middle ones.
Lu Zheng booked middle front and back seats, the middle-aged woman booked window front and back seats, separated by an aisle.
Putting down carry-on luggage, letting Lin Wan sit in the front seat, Lu Zheng checked the time on his phone, "Sleep now, we'll transfer in Frankfurt tomorrow noon, arrive in Rome by noon... uh... flying from zero hour, twenty-hour flight, and still arrive at noon, where do you justify that?"
