Chapter 1227: Fine Marksmanship
Peace Hotel.
Wei Yi, covered in dust, stepped into the entrance. This time, he wasn't surrounded by a large entourage; he was alone.
"Wait a moment."
Just as he was about to go upstairs, someone called out to stop him.
Du Enqin, wearing an exquisite cheongsam, walked over unhurriedly, with graceful elegance.
She seemed to have a particular fondness for cheongsams.
"Looking for Mr. Jiang?"
She asked with a smile, stopping a step away, showing no regard for past grievances.
Not long ago, Wei Yi had blocked her in her office with soldiers, but now he remained silent, essentially confirming it.
"Then you're here at the wrong time, Mr. Jiang isn't around."
Explained Du Enqin.
Wei Yi looked at her.
"This time he's really not here, I'm not lying to you."
Du Enqin said with a smile, very sincerely, but there was always a hint of insinuation.
Last time, Wei Yi had tricked her with the same thing.
Perhaps out of a guilty conscience from last time, or perhaps out of instinctive distrust, Wei Yi did not heed her warning.
Mr. Jiang had asked him to come to Karuzi, how could he have stood him up?
"Make way."
Last time was an emergency, under normal circumstances, he was still quite polite to Du Enqin.
"Why never believe me."
Du Enqin sighed helplessly, not insisting, stepping aside, "You're going there for nothing."
Wei Yi ignored her, stepping forward, brushing past her.
Du Enqin remained where she was, leisurely, not leaving but staying in the lobby.
As expected.
Over ten minutes later.
Wei Yi came back down the stairs and walked up to Du Enqin.
Du Enqin looked at him calmly, without a word.
"When will Mr. Jiang be back?"
Wei Yi asked.
"Pfft."
Du Enqin chuckled, "Now you believe it, huh."
Wei Yi said nothing.
"Even I don't know when Mr. Jiang will be back. Mr. Jiang doesn't report to me."
"Didn't you ask?"
"Why would I ask? What right would I have to ask? Why don't you call and ask Mr. Jiang what he's doing and to hurry back."
Wei Yi remained silent.
Du Enqin found it increasingly amusing, a smile growing, but she didn't continue teasing. She always understood when to stop.
"Mr. Jiang didn't tell me when he'd be back, but he did tell me to stay and wait for you."
She changed her tone.
Wei Yi's eyes subtly shifted.
"Come with me."
Du Enqin did not explain, turning and walking out of the hotel, speaking without looking back, "This time, whether you want to believe me or not, is up to you."
Wei Yi said nothing, opting to follow.
"Let's take your car."
Du Enqin casually said, as if they were quite familiar.
"Where to."
"Why ask so much, just follow my instructions."
Wei Yi fell silent.
"Drive, turn left."
About twenty minutes later, the jeep drove into a small village, stopping in front of a brick and mud house under Du Enqin's guidance.
"What're you looking at? I own this village; all the villagers work for me, and the produce goes to the hotel."
As she spoke, Du Enqin pushed open the door and got out, walking to the door, knocking.
Wei Yi parked the car, got out, and followed her inside.
The door to the brick and mud house opened.
"Boss."
Du Enqin nodded nonchalantly, exuding the aura of a powerful woman, and walked in first.
Wei Yi followed silently.
The wooden door closed.
"Boss."
"Boss."
"Boss."
Though it was a brick and mud house, it covered quite an area, with a front yard and a back yard, and several men with fierce expressions greeted Du Enqin respectfully.
Wei Yi was all alone, and it was unclear if he was armed. If Du Enqin harbored spite and gave the order, the high-ranking deputy officer of the Allied Army, known as the War God of Northern Myanmar, might find himself in a precarious situation.
Under scrutiny, Wei Yi, skilled as he was, remained unperturbed.
It wasn't a trap; when they reached the middle of the house, between the front and back yards, Wei Yi looked up.
A person was hanging from the beam.
With a burlap sack over the head, the face couldn't be seen, but from the figure, it was a woman.
The woman's hands were bound with nylon rope, and her feet were off the ground, suspended in mid-air, motionless, seemingly unconscious.
If it were a corpse, there would be no need for such trouble to hang it here; it's not like they were curing meat—it was past the New Year.
"Interested in a guessing game for a prize?"
Du Enqin tilted her head and asked.
Wei Yi did not respond.
Clearly not interested.
He wasn't someone given to such games.
Realizing her miscalculation, Du Enqin didn't indulge any further, revealing the answer without words; just a glance, and a subordinate understood, stepping on a stool to pull the burlap sack off the suspended woman's head.
The truth was revealed.
Under the burlap, a face covered in matted hair was revealed, its former arrogance and defiance gone, the head drooping weakly, still unconscious.
Wei Yi squinted slightly.
"Are you really made of stone? Not even a hint of surprise?"
Du Enqin studied him.
"Did you do this?"
"Otherwise? You think you did?"
After watching for a moment, Wei Yi turned his head, "Boss Du truly has vast capabilities."
"You flatter me."
Du Enqin smiled modestly, looking at the woman hanging in mid-air, "Deputy Officer Wei recognizes her, doesn't he?"
How could he forget.
It was her and her brother who had issued the kill order back then.
"Didn't Wei Hong flee the country? How did Boss Du manage this?"
"Just because she left, doesn't mean she can't come back?"
Du Enqin laughed lightly, "I heard Deputy Officer Wei has quite the past with the eldest Miss of the Wei Family. Now that old friends meet again, I'm sure there's much to catch up on, right?"
With that, Du Enqin gestured with her eyes.
"Bang!"
Soon, a wooden stick swung, rising up, cutting a violent arc, simply and brutally swinging towards the woman's abdomen.
