Ch. 178
Lilith had indeed disappeared.
After examining Lin Nan's current body, Lina discovered that Lin Nan's body no longer contained Lilith's soul at all.
Although the soul was gone, her "inheritance" still remained. Lin Nan might still become Lilith-shaped due to those otherworld memories, and could still unlock and use new magic…
But the problem was, where did that witch go?
"Could she have... completely died?" Lin Nan sat stiffly at the head of the bed, hands placed on her thighs, legs nervously pressed together. "Like her soul completely scattered?"
"That's impossible. When I checked last time, her soul was already very strong, just her consciousness hadn't awakened yet..."
"Then maybe she didn't like my body and ran away?"
"Even if she didn't like your body, she'd still want the magical power inside you." Lina shook her head again. "Could it be that her consciousness just awakened and while still confused, sleepwalked away?"
Sleepwalking, seriously?
So what was the real reason?
Lin Nan and Lina couldn't figure it out, and now the important problem was that Lilith had run away. Who knows whose body she'd run to. The first chapter scenario of this story might happen to another person, who would tragically have their body taken over by Lilith.
Thinking that someone had become her scapegoat, Lin Nan couldn't help showing happy emotions on her face.
However, seeing Lina look back at her, Lin Nan quickly switched to an expression of mourning Lilith for three seconds.
"Never mind, go back for now. I'll try to find her." Lina sighed deeply. "You troublemaker, I told you so many times to come find me when you were about to unlock the third magic, to make proper preparations first. Look what happened now."
How was I supposed to know the third magic's unlock method was being used as a casting tool! You're always using me as an experiment and now you're blaming me?
Lin Nan was too lazy to argue with her. Mainly because if she won the argument, she'd be in physical danger.
After becoming a girl, Lin Nan didn't really want to go out. She'd originally planned to buy some breakfast on the way back to the dorm, but once she noticed people starting to pay attention to her, she immediately blushed, looked down, and hurriedly ran away while pretending to play with her phone.
She'd finally adapted to her feminized appearance, but no matter what, she couldn't adapt to being the center of attention.
When she returned to the dorm it was only 10 AM. Chen Yao was already awake but still lying in bed playing with his phone. Hearing Lin Nan enter, he poked his head out to look.
"Is there something wrong with Cola today?"
"What's wrong?"
"It's been making gurgling sounds non-stop, don't know what it's calling about." Chen Yao complained. "I can't even get a proper weekend sleep with all its noise."
Only then did Lin Nan look toward Cola, who was crouched on her chair. The cat was still chattering about something, occasionally biting its own tail or paws and letting out cries.
Cola's suddenly abnormal behavior made Lin Nan suspect the cat had gotten some illness, but would a cat's illness show up in its mental state?
Could it have gotten a skin disease?
She walked forward and scooped up Cola, planning to examine it, but Cola let out a cry and unhesitatingly kicked to escape Lin Nan's embrace, then fell face-first to the ground, rolled, and stumbled to run into the corner.
It had never been so resistant to Lin Nan's hugs before. Could something really be wrong?
Lin Nan crouched down and observed the seemingly frightened Cola from a distance.
"They say cats can see things people can't see," Chen Yao on the bed suddenly said.
Meaning there was a ghost in the dorm? This made Lin Nan think of Lilith.
Could Lilith's soul still be lingering around the dorm without leaving? Is that why Cola was acting so abnormal?
Lin Nan shivered, suddenly feeling a malevolent gaze fall on her, as if ready to enter her body at any moment and steal control.
Lin Nan turned to glare at Chen Yao: "Don't talk nonsense! Where would ghosts come from!"
Although she said there were no ghosts, Lin Nan felt a bit restless.
If Lilith really was still around waiting for an opportunity to control her body, then the dorm would be the most dangerous place for her.
But even if she ran away, Lilith would follow, right?
Although she had magic, Lin Nan couldn't see things like souls either. She even still didn't understand what magical power was, and had never sensed the magical power within her body.
But since Lilith hadn't made a move last night, it meant that woman must have encountered some problem too, right?
Thinking this way, Lin Nan felt much more at ease, then walked to the balcony to check the bedding she'd washed last night.
Already dry.
Today's sun was strong. The bedding and sheets had completely dried after just a few hours in the sunlight.
Better give myself another purification spell, don't want to leak again.
The underwear she'd changed out of this morning still needed washing. Living in a male dorm, these blood-stained items could only be hidden away. If her roommates saw them, she wouldn't know how to explain.
Chen Yao got down from his bed, taking his toiletries to the balcony. He glanced at Lin Nan who was collecting bedding and asked: "Why does your bed have a bloody smell?"
"Does it?" Lin Nan played dumb.
"Anyway it started last night, though I can barely smell it today." Chen Yao joked with a smile. "You didn't have your period leak, did you?"
"..."
"Though that doesn't seem too likely..." Chen Yao scratched his head. He knew that before Lin Nan had surgery, period blood couldn't leak out.
To collect the sheets, Lin Nan had moved to the deepest part of the balcony. When she finished gathering everything and turned around, she found the balcony was completely occupied by Chen Yao with no walkway space left.
The dorm balcony was cramped to begin with. Normally it could allow two people to pass, but the sink took up half the space, making everywhere except near the door quite crowded.
"Move over a bit."
If it were before, Lin Nan would naturally squeeze past without hesitation, but now she extremely resisted any physical contact with anyone.
"Mm." Chen Yao straightened up, making just a tiny gap.
"I mean, go stand by the door..."
"Why so picky?" Chen Yao pouted, but when he looked up and saw those eyes glaring with all kinds of girlish charm, he suddenly realized this was no longer the close friend he was familiar with.
She was a pretty girl now, mm.
That glare looked like she was throwing flirtatious glances, making his legs a bit weak.
Chen Yao quickly moved aside to let Lin Nan through with her sheets and bedding.
However, just as Lin Nan walked through the back door into the dorm, she suddenly saw Cola inside let out a fierce cry and pounce toward her.
Holy crap!
Lin Nan was so startled she stepped back two paces, but her heel stepped right on Chen Yao's toes. She stumbled and her body fell backward out of control.
Mm, soft and not painful.
The back of her head hit Chen Yao's solid chest, and she was almost completely embraced by Chen Yao. Chen Yao also couldn't help stepping backward from the sudden impact, finally hitting the railing.
She looked up at Chen Yao who was grimacing in pain and gave an awkward laugh: "You okay?"
"My foot hurts, my back hurts, ack..." Chen Yao had no time to mind the girl in his arms and angrily cursed: "What's gotten into this cat!"
