Chapter 386: Specialized Attack on the Divine - The Illogical Burst of Seed Force

The next morning, Gu Shanhai sat on the deck sipping porridge and nibbling on side dishes, while Little White also brought a big basin over and skillfully used its hooves to pick up the side dishes with chopsticks, a true testament to Elder Deer's transformation.

A group of people came out with dark circles under their eyes as well. Gazing at the sumptuous breakfast, they swallowed hard. Having had their fill of "dark cuisine" for too long, just drinking porridge was enough to make their eyes red with envy.

"Come and have some. We still have to hit the road soon," Gu Shanhai said.

"This... Isn't that inappropriate?" Wang Qi hesitated a bit, slightly reserved. His contamination had faded away, and he no longer acted as unrestrained as the night before.

"What's wrong with that?" Gu Shanhai said dismissively.

Seeing this, Wang Qi did not insist further. After serving himself a bowl of porridge, he sat down and asked while sipping, "Has the Sea Abyss Lord been captured?"

"Oh, caught it," Gu Shanhai said, flinging his sleeve and revealing a shadow being suppressed inside.

"That fast!" Wang Qi was somewhat dumbfounded, wondering when it had happened without him noticing.

"I was cooking porridge this morning and realized I hadn't sorted the side dishes yet, so I scooped up some sea goods along with it," Gu Shanhai said, taking another sip of his porridge.

Upon hearing this, everyone silently drank their porridge. The boss was truly outrageous; capturing a deity was no more complicated than a morning meal. After all, you still had to cook porridge, while capturing a deity was just a flick of a sleeve.

"Not going to kill it?" Wang Qi asked curiously.

"No. I'll just dig out its brain, turn them into idiots, raise them for food, and occasionally cut a bit that can regenerate, kind of like leeks."

"Next time you offer tribute to me, I'll send you some dark cuisine seasoned with divine ingredients. You'll love it," Gu Shanhai said nonchalantly.

"Boss, can I not eat dark cuisine?" Wang Qi's face fell. You're reversing the decision, why bring up old matters?

"So sorry, no can do. Offended the abbot, and you think you can just walk away?" Gu Shanhai teased with this line.

Wang Qi's face turned green.

"Just kidding. I definitely won't make you eat dark cuisine. I plan to shut down the tribute channel; it's pointless. If you want to get stronger, I do have some ideas," Gu Shanhai said, his expression sobering before slipping back into a teasing tone.

"Some ideas?" Wang Qi didn't quite understand.

"Do you remember the fatal illness you have?" Gu Shanhai countered.

"Are you saying you're planning on curing me?" Wang Qi grew excited.

"Kid, stay grounded. Although now's a good time for daydreaming, it's not a reason for your fantasies," Gu Shanhai said, patting Wang Qi on the shoulder, indicating he should stop dreaming.

"..." Wang Qi was left speechless. Weren't you the one who brought it up?

"Your disease seems to be some unique power. I will help you develop it, and then you won't have to depend on the divine tribute to gain strength but can rely on your own cultivation," Gu Shanhai revealed without holding back.

It wasn't that he was being kind; he primarily wanted to tap into the power within Wang Qi's bloodline to see if it could be fodder for his own strength and a stepping stone.

"A unique power, even you can't figure it out, boss. Isn't there a risk?" Wang Qi asked with some concern.

For him, offering tribute to a divine and tapping into his own potential were much the same; in the end, both were equally challenging.

"How would I know? I haven't started researching yet. Instead of worrying about that, you might want to consider how you're going to fulfill the agreement. I've already begun dealing with the deity, so if you can't integrate the Divine Alliance and other forces, prepare yourself for a future of eating dark cuisine for three meals a day," Gu Shanhai bluntly reminded.

Wang Qi jolted, realizing this was a significant issue because he had no clue how to do it.

"Looks like you really haven't thought about how to handle what comes next. Seems you'll have to study with me for a while," Gu Shanhai said with a radiant smile.

That smile sent a shudder through Wang Qi's heart. He would have preferred Gu Shanhai's smile to be sinister or eerie.

From what he could gather, Gu Shanhai's smile came in three levels: the sinister grin meant a small trap, the eerie smile a big trap, and the radiant one, apparently, was reserved for the highest level of mischief-making.

"For now, you'll be an in-name disciple here. Whoever else wants to join, I'll take you. I'm a jack of all trades, and as long as you're willing to learn, I guarantee a full education. No one coming out from under my guidance has been anything less than capable," Gu Shanhai said as his gaze swept over the others. To him, herding a group was no different from herding one.

Seeing Gu Shanhai's bright smile, the others let their guard down and agreed to it. After all, this was a powerful leg to cling to. If he was willing to take them on as disciples, even just in name, that was an opportunity to seize.

"If you're willing, that's good. I've always preferred the cooperative type," Gu Shanhai mused, feeling like they were on the right track.

Wang Qi really wanted to retort that Gu Shanhai wasn't human, but he still had enough sense to hold his tongue. If he had spoken out, who knows what would have happened.

"Here, take these books for some pre-study. By tomorrow, each of you will submit an eight-thousand-word essay with your reflections, and then we'll formally start the classes," Gu Shanhai said, pulling out five stacks of books from within his robe, each about half his height.

"Don't be shy, one stack each."

Hearing this, everyone unconsciously swallowed. It was then that they realized the gravity of the situation.

"This... So much reading, not to mention writing eight thousand words. It seems like there won't be enough time," said Fang Chen, who as a previous playboy naturally disliked hardship, let alone the idea of having to study.
