chapter 388: Another turn of events
The night grew colder for others, but for those who were chosen, it was a welcoming darkness, one that mended their sorrow. Everything was going well not until a glaring red light blared across the screen.
A warning
"What is going on?"
Alya rushed to see all the maps, as much as she knew all the territories were in a stable state with the corpses already sent away. The amount remaining shouldn't pose any threat.
So what's going on? Confusion filled her, but it was a different emotion for others.
Keith and Aaron were the first to panic while Agnes immediately reacted, slowing time around the seven territories. Her thoughts were spiraling as she tried to see the future, but with her blessings already locked on slowing, she couldn't concentrate enough. And with pressure pressing on their bodies, the red blinking light didn't make them feel better.
Deep draws of breathing were heard, Agnes began to calm herself, immediately shot a glance to Keith and Aaron.
"You two snap out of it," she said, making the two look at her. At the same time, Alya pointed to something on the map.
"Take that thing now"
Her voice was resolute, and doubt couldn't be heard in it, while her eyes were full of light. Her confidence was evident, showing no room for hesitation. And so her friends follow her fingers, finding their direction towards a certain place.
"What?" Everyone was confused until they saw a specific blinking dot in the eastern territory.
"That thing I think we need to remove whatever that thing is"
She added.
Without a doubt, without hesitation. They all move, Keith and Aaron look at their target and found it was only a small pumping flesh, hidden under the pile of rubble, something they never notice.
Beads of sweat fell, dampening their back in cold, while a tingling sensation gnawed on their senses. The two boys both felt compelled to remove the threat. Even when their chest felt heavy, tightening their breath, gripping it hard to make their stomach twist.
The space around the continent moves according to one's will, while the forces of nature follow through.
They tugged at the seams of the world, stripped of weight, and the night witnessed how the five descendants shape the world the same way as two hundred years ago. Bunag listen to the commands not ignoring even a single one.
The corpses rose, but it didn't stop despite the sudden appearance of a new threat. At the eastern region Lioness the chaos shows no signs of stopping.
Within its center its capital city Olympia continues to defend its walls, oblivious of the danger beneath the mounted of debris near the barrier.
Aaron and Keith split between transporting bodies and taking out the flesh that will soon explode. Their concentration peak that ther world soon changes. Their surroundings transform into the landscape of their target. Without their knowledge they were right in the middle of the battlefield. Fire and blood were flowing like river but amongst the discord the two boys stood not being bothered at all. Their eyes their attention were mainly on the pulsing lump of flesh. It was buried but a flick of Keith's will and the pile of debris move as it lose its gravity. Aaron followed through and with snap, the space fluctuate turning into a ripple that swallowed its target. At the next seconds the flesh was right above Olympia teleported few hundred meters above the ground.
Keith's blessings course through loosening the force that binds it, with nothing to held it down it continues it ascend. Agnes accelerated its speed and as soon as its hits outermost part of atmosphere, an explosion greater than no other. A thunderous roar exploded created showaves that reach the ground.
The children watching it held their breath sensing the impact despite being away from the scene. Even Apollo was caught surprise by the power of the bomb.
The screen flash the lentgh of its destruction, that is when they realize that its flames are reaching back into Olympia. Samael interfere in that moment. A layer of holy flames bask into the sky swallowing and purifying the unholy pyre. The drops of flames that seems to bear the power of comets soon collapsed, absorbed by the layer of protection that Samael provided. Right at this moment the hypnotism stop the music ended, as the danger was eliminated.
One
Two
Three
It took them three seconds to realize that the threat had come to pass. The screen switch from red to green while all the warning disappeared replace by the words congratulations.
That word written in bold letter soon created a low cheer that soon broke into a full blown celebration. In the kitchen fifteen students were happily jumping around. All kinds of emotions washed over them. Happy, grateful and relief for the people who had just seen doom averted. Sweat ran down palms. Vesta's flute-tunings had gone hoarse her breath almost run dry, Arabella clutched her wand to her chest, throat working with the effort to stay steady. Aaron lay on the grounds, every blink of teleportation raw on his memory.
Apollo stayed silent. Jeremiah's voice in his head was efficient, almost proud.
[Creator, congratulations, your friends did it!]
He let himself exhale only after Keith's hands came away from the console and he wiped his face with the back of his wrist, laughing in a way that had nothing to do with joy.
"We did it," Blair said, the words strangled.
"Yes you all did it, well done" Apollo replied softly, proud on how they all tackle the problem.
One by one, they moved. Corpses rose into the air, gravity peeled from them, time stretched and twisted. Their consoles shuddered under the strain, fingers blistering against hot glyphs as the artificial soldiers mirrored their will.
The temperature that continues to drop was momentarily stop as Samael guided the heat to warm they up.
Apollo watched silently. He didn't interfere. Instead, he allowed their decisions to unfold, his Authority stripping away doubt from their minds. And in its place—determination burned.
"They're doing great," he murmured, almost to himself.
The power of multiple authorities was felt by those affiliated with the gods. People who inherit their will as well as their blood. They, who remain secluded, not even daring to help, felt the tremor of five authorities circling throughout the continent.
The battle is commencing, and both sides think they have the upper hand over each other.
The bombs that were supposed to be one of the winning cards of the enemy didn't turn out as well as they expected.
"What is happening!" One of the observing generals shouted as he realized someone from the enemy's side was able to notice their plan, as well as the pattern of how the bombs would explode.
Their was panic but then they heard a voice.
"No need to worry proceed to the other plan, we need to break their defences without using too much of our cards" she reminded them and so the mood of the army shifted. They immediately reorganized the attacking creatures. Seizing the opportunity to start another wave catastrophe, though this time they need to try harder. They are losing resources as time thick by, and none of their targetted territories suffered severe damages, nor massive casualties.
"My princess are still there?"
{Yes general what is it?}
"If possible can we mobilized at least one of out heavenly knights or even one of the saints, to break into the barrier of the capital"
{If you do that they it will be the cue of the dukes to appear and we can't afford for them to appear early into this battle, as much as possible we need to break the barrier without their help}
The soldier nodded understanding their princess judgement but more than that he was also nervous knowing it will be difficult to do what she commanded.
"I will do as you command princess" he replied while saluting.
Right after that conversation he look at the other generals urging them to release the second wave of the experimental fiends.
At the same time as they went on with this order, Apollo receives another wave of red glaring notifications.
"Whats this another wave?"
The boy felt that the kingdom of Aileen are too rich to have this much creatures to waste.
"Jeremiah this magic circle can you identify it?"
[Yes Creator, after analyzing, the conclusion I arrive is a teleportation magic, I am currently trying to break it but it seems, this spell has been embedded for a long time. I can't bypass it like how we usually break spells]
"I will try, wai..."
The two were in state of urgency when they felt the sudden activation of the spell.
"Shit, hang in there"
For the first time Jeremiah and Apollo felt frustrated not being in control of a spell, which they believe to be their strongest asset.v
