Chapter 43: Re: Ainen's Decision
"What brings you here, Lady Yelvina?" Lilian asked with a smile.
"Stop with that. You already know why I am here." Yelvina rolled her eyes. "Where is he?"
"I'm afraid you are late. He has already agreed to join us." Lilian ruefully smiled.
Yelvina narrowed her eyes and smiled. "Don't make this difficult for yourself. It's up to him to decide, but we haven't talked with him yet. So how can he decide if he doesn't even know the options?"
"So you are determined about this, eh?" Lilian wryly smiled.
"An Awakened-rank got blessed by Arcane. I would be foolish not to even try recruiting someone with such potential."
Lilian turned to Zeilin. "Call him."
However, Ainen was listening and had already begun moving after hearing that.
Right before he walked out of the camp, Saffa, Clovelle, and Fraise turned into outfits for him.
'Master, we smell something familiar there.'
'Yes. It feels like the very first fragrance we smelled when we were born.'
Ainen was surprised. 'Well, let's see what it is.'
Seeing Ainen walking towards the group, Yelvina and Irnia started measuring him.
Irnia couldn't measure much of Ainen, but Yelvina's eyes flickered with surprise.
"What's with those buffs? And those monsters?"
"He is a chef. As in, the class he awakened is Chef, so he can make food that gives buffs." Lilian answered with a smile.
"His food gives permanent stats, and quite high at that, from what we found," Irnia quickly said.
"Oh? Then it looks like an S-rank class at least," Yelvina said with a smile.
"Hi, I am Ainen. Chef Ainen." Ainen greeted them with a smile.
"Mhmm. The air around you is peaceful. Arcane dances to your pure mind and thoughts. Your vibe doesn't match that of a young man but a veteran," Yelvina said as she nodded. "Clearly different from that kiddo over there. Good. You are good."
Zeilin was speechless. 'Why am I getting attacked?'
"That's too much praise. I am nothing like that," Ainen said with a dry chuckle.
"You already know about the Sacred Aurelian Magic Tower and the Aurelian Arcanum Academy, I suppose. I know you agreed to join them, but I am here for the same reason."
"Join the Mistbound Magic Tower. Upon entry, I'll directly take you in as my apprentice." Yelvina smiled. "You will have resources and skills you like at your disposal and my full support in nurturing you."
'Tsk. The tone she uses against him is completely different.' Irnia thought, feeling a bit frustrated.
"And that outfit you got is quite interesting. I promise to nurture those monsters as well." Yelvina added. "If the Sacred Aurelian already promised you better treatment than this, then you can reject me."
Ainen was lost for two moments before he blinked and wryly smiled. "Well, I kind of had my own demands, and they agreed, so I agreed to join them."
Lilian chuckled and started speaking after Ainen finished.
"Lady Yelvina, I am afraid your Mistbound Magic Tower is not suitable for Ainen. Unlike us, you don't have an academic structure, as you only have Magic Tower's structure. Ainen here likes privacy and freedom more than the facilities we have, so I have agreed to make exceptions for him as long as he proves he is worthy."
Yelvina's eyes glinted. "Who said we can't be flexible?"
Looking at Ainen, Yelvina continued. "Whatever she agreed, I also agree."
Ainen rubbed his chin. "To be honest, I don't know anything about either place in a true sense. I already told them that I would leave if I don't like it there, after repaying for whatever I used there."
"So if I don't like it there, I will check out your Magic Tower. How about that? By the way, I also have siblings. Two ten-year-olds."
"…"
"…"
"You are funny, kid." Yelvina laughed.
"It's not a problem, right?" Ainen shifted his eyes between Lilian and Yelvina.
"In that case, how about coming to the Mistbound Magic Tower first?" Yelvina smilingly asked.
"We were first, so that's not appropriate, Lady Yelvina." Lilian's voice was disappointing.
"Why not?" Yelvina smiled. "Ainen can decide it."
"Alright, I will decide."
Ainen put his hand in his pocket and took out a gold coin.
"I am going to toss the coin. If it's heads, I will join Sacred Aurelian. If it's tails, I will join Mistbound."
"…"
"Here we go." Ainen tossed the coin, and it landed.
Looking down, he saw it was heads.
"Oh, it looks like I'm going to Sacred Aurelian."
"He has decided." Lilian chuckled.
"Tsk. Fine." Yelvina clicked her tongue. "But since we are here, let's see your actual skills through this Labyrinth."
"We have yet to see him in action as well." Raashik chuckled.
Ainen smiled. "I can't wait to get into action myself. Can I enter the Labyrinth now?"
"You didn't tell him about the Labyrinth?" Yelvina looked at Lilian.
"I was about to, but then you arrived."
"But you already told me that a Labyrinth is a large, unknown dimension that has multiple floors downward and that it gets more dangerous the deeper one goes."
"Yeah, but there's more, buddy," Zeilin said. "You don't enter a Labyrinth alone. What if you get hurt badly and can't get out on your own? Not to mention, all Labyrinths have various kinds of traps. A dungeon is simple, but a labyrinth is a death's domain. And if you enter a floor boss's chamber alone without preparation, you're done."
"Oh, it looks like it's more dangerous than I assumed." Ainen somberly nodded. "But it's fine if I have my white-furred friends, right?"
Everyone except Irnia understood what he meant.
Lilian's party already met Saffa, Clovelle, and Fraisea.
On the other hand, Yelvina also figured it out at a glance, like Lilian did.
But Irnia didn't know yet. And she had yet to tell Yelvina that her brother had captured a pregnant fox, whose husband is the son of the Southern Mountain's Emperor.
"Speaking of that, why don't you show me them if you don't mind? Don't worry, I am not one of those who forcefully snatch others' things, unless of course, they become my enemy." Yelvina smiled.
"That lass there can vouch for that."
Lilia smiled in response. "I suppose I can. I would also like you to take a look at them and confirm something."
"I have already confirmed it, and I can't believe it, which is why I want to double confirm it," Yelvin's eyes glinted.
