Chapter 4: Brother
The adventurers found out that Ainen saved the other people in the cave from those people, and they also saw the burned bodies of goblins inside, so they were surprised and asked Ainen.
Ainen showed off a little by using Flame Knives and Blaze Bird, surprising them. He made an excuse that, after getting captured by the goblins, he could somehow manipulate fire.
"Man, you've got potential to become a mage if you can already use fire manipulation like that. You must have some innate skill for it that awakened."
"Indeed. Those spells were surprisingly good for someone who just awakened a skill like Fire Manipulation. And how old are you, twenty, right?"
"If you decided to become an adventurer, do consider joining us, hahaha."
"Alright." Ainen cordially smiled. 'Is it because my Fire Manipulation is S-rank that I am able to learn and create spells fast?'
According to these people, only those prodigies could learn that fast, so Ainen reckoned that it was because his Fire Manipulation was already S-rank that he was able to make spells like that and learn fast.
As the adventurers led people back to the town, Ainen suddenly thought of something important.
'I don't have a memory of this body.' His brows creased. 'I wonder if this guy has a family…'
Deep down, Ainen kind of wished the original owner of this body had a family, something that he didn't have.
But having no family would also make it a bit easier for him to blend in.
Either way, it was not up to him whether this guy had family or not. Whatever the case may be, he would act accordingly.
…
"Brother!"
Just as Ainen arrived in the Adventurer's Yard, where the Adventurer's guild was situated and other adventurers hung out, two kids around ten years old rushed at him, one boy and one girl.
Both of them had the same hair as him, crimson red.
"Brother, are you okay?"
"Wu…I was so scared, brother Ainen."
'Ainen? Wait, I have the same name here?' Ainen was surprised.
Looking at the tear-stricken kids hugging him tightly, Ainen felt kind of warm and smiled.
He patted their heads and said, "I'm fine. But there's a problem."
"Problem?" the little guy looked up at him and sniffed hard. "What do you mean, brother Ain?"
"Are you hurt anywhere?" The little girl started looking around him to see if he was injured.
"I am not hurt, don't worry. Come, let's go somewhere quiet first."
"Brother, we need to gather food, so let's just go out."
"Yes, but we will not go deeper in the forest this time. It's because we went there that brother Ainen was captured."
And so, the trio left the small town again and went towards the forest in the north. The same place Ainen just came from with the adventurers.
"Let's capture fish from the river. It's safer there," the boy said.
"Nuu…We ate fish yesterday. I want some rabbit and fruits today, um, if possible only. We don't need to go deeper if we can't find anything, okay?" The girl looked at Ainen with a serious, but slightly scared expression.
Ainen smiled and patted both of their heads. "Don't worry, we will be fine."
Looking around, there was no one else nearby, so Ainen took the kids to a big tree and sat down.
"Let's sit first."
Looking at the town in front of him, two hundred meters away, and the people going in and out, Ainen sighed.
'I am in a different world with real magic in the air…crazy.'
Clearing his throat, Ainen looked at his siblings. "So…I had an accident when I got captured, but I am fine. However, there's just one problem."
The kids who sat across from him looked at him curiously.
"What's the problem, brother?"
"I…don't remember anything. Of course, I remember you two, but I forgot your names, and the names of everything and everyone. I also don't know anything else. Basically, I don't know anything except that you two are my siblings."
Ainen blurted out and saw shock filling their faces.
"Haha, brother~ you are joking, right?" The boy suddenly laughed.
However, the girl had a light bulb go off in her head as she said, "Wait...so that's why you didn't call us by our names so far…"
Ainen wryly smiled. "Yes. So can you two tell me your names?"
"I am Ronik!" the boy shouted while grinning.
"I am Sylwen! You sweetly call me Syl, brother Ain!"
"And you call me Ron usually, hehe."
"Ron and Syl. Nice to meet you, haha." Ainen smiled and patted heads. "Now, you two are hungry, right?"
Both kids' eyes lit up, and they quickly nodded.
"The three of us hadn't eaten anything since last night." Ron rubbed his stomach.
"Alright, we are going to have a feast today. I promise you that you will eat to your fill every day from now on." Ainen grinned. "Let's go."
