I Cook Limitlessly In a Fantasy World

Chapter 18: Naming Them, Demonic Ape

With Mystic Chef's Eyes, Ainen knew these foxes were females. So, he named them as such.

"You are Saffa, a reference to Saffron because of the crimson golden sheen in your eyes."

"You are…Clovelle, reference to clove with your dark brown eyes."

"And you are Fraisea, reference to your eyes that have sparks like strawberry color."

The foxes yipped cheerfully.

The adventure began as Ron and Syl rode on Saffa and Clovelle, all three foxes streaking through the forest with jumps and flights with their mystical ice control alongside Ainen, who also flew instead of running, using Flight and experimenting with a new spell.

Jet Fire — forming interlinked pockets of fire around his body, each one pulsing with compressed heat. When released, they erupted in a wave of flame, propelling him forward in a sudden, explosive burst.

He also wanted to break through the bottleneck of Flight's proficiency.

With him gaining Mystic Chef's Eyes, he could finally see the structure of the Flight skill better, so he started understanding it.

He also found it strange how he could understand and clearly see/sense the Fire element and its deep details so well, gaining more and more mastery of it while Flight was being a hard nut to crack after 79%, as he could perceive its structure as better.

Ainen attributed it to what Hammer said. Maybe he had a higher talent for Fire, hence his speed of improvement in that.

This Flight wasn't elemental. It wasn't like the wind carried him.

It was like the world carried him, removing all notion of gravity around him.

Its attribute was Mystic, his being able to fly was thanks to a strange Mana Veil that formed around his body when using the Flight, which was like glued to the world around him.

So he flew according to his control of this veil with his mind, instead of wings.

These foxes could also fly, but using a different type of application, using the reaction and active control of tiny snowflake particles they released.

These foxes were innately talented, and he was really curious about their skills' ranks, but unfortunately, he would have to upgrade the system once to see their full status.

"Alright, we are approaching our first battle." Ainen's eyes flickered as he zoomed in far ahead, detecting a battle between two behemoths.

A level 50 Four-Armed Demonic Ape and a level 44 Verdant Spore Elephant.

The Demonic Ape had almost all stats to 50, while the Elephant was still around 20% away from hitting 50 in all stats.

The surrounding three hundred meters of area was already broken and destroyed.

But the battle was about to end because the Demonic Ape was more agile and never got too close to the elephant. Instead, it released purple orbs while moving around and dodging the attacks.

The Elephant had spread toxin in the air by growing spores, but that seemed to have no effect on the Ape.

The Ape could clearly finish off the Elephant faster, but it was taking its time, playing with it, and torturing it. Ainen could clearly see it having fun as it was grinning and mocking the elephant.

'That's a nasty Ape.' Ainen wryly smiled and looked at its status. 'Demonic, huh?'

Ainen was surprised. The Ape had a Demonic attribute alongside Wind!

'I wonder if I should use it as an ingredient for food?'

"Stay here, you three. I want to solo that Ape. It's stronger than me, and looks skillful, so I want to see how I fare against it."

"Brother, you can beat it, right?" Ron asked, worried.

"Of course, he can. You can beat it to pulp, Brother Ain!" Syl cheered while grinning.

"Not beat, you stupid. Brother Ain will burn it with his flame," Ron said as he rolled his eyes.

"You are stupid!"

"Alright, no fighting. Say sorry, Ron."

"Sorry…"

Syl giggled. "I am your elder sister, so I forgive you."

"We are twins."

"But I forgave you, so I am bigger than you!"

The foxes laughed and whistled, seeing the kids and playing with their large, furry tails.

Their tails could entirely wrap around kids and hide them.

Ainen laughed. "Alright, stay here obediently and don't fight. Just cheer on me as I roast that big monkey."

Suddenly, a cry of death rang as the Elephant finally fell.

Ainen narrowed his eyes.

The Ape was gobbling up the Elephant meat by pulling out chunks with his hands and looking straight at Income Ainen.

Its fangs bared in a grin, almost humanlike, as if mocking the small challenger who dared to intrude.

"Let's see what you've got." Ainen's lips curved into a faint smile, and he crossed his arms, stopping fifty meters away from the ape. "Recover your Mana and then we'll fight."

The Ape roared, and Ainen clearly saw the shift in Mana in the atmosphere with his Mystic Chef's Eyes.

'Huh?' Ainen blinked, surprised.

The Ape was absorbing Mana and recovering it rapidly as if using a Mana Cultivation Method!

"Not bad." Ainen grinned.

The Ape beat its chest and roared before leaping toward him with terrifying speed, purple orbs swirling around its arms like baleful lanterns.

Each orb exploded on impact, gouging the ground and scattering shards of rock.

But Ainen was already gone.

He twisted in midair, the Mystic Flight Veil carrying him like a ghost through the air. He landed softly, heat shimmering faintly around his frame as fire pockets bloomed on his shoulders and legs.

The fire burst simultaneously, propelling him in a sudden streak of speed while Fire Mage's Arms activated.

He appeared beside the Ape while it also made a swing of its enhanced arm.

Ainen's eyes glinted. He didn't want to get hit, so his body glowed with a layer of heat so hot the air around him wavered like a mirage.

Condensed Heat Barrier.

The Ape's claws met the invisible layer of compressed fire and hissed, lighting up in flames as if dipped into molten metal. The beast shrieked and jerked back, smoke trailing from its burned palm.

The wind was used for that swift swing, and the swirl of wind in its hands couldn't remain after clashing with Ainen's Fire, and was instead consumed by his flames, which strengthened the burn it got in its hand.

But the Ape had a fast reaction, retreating instantly upon striking the barrier in just half a second.

The Ape leapt back with frightening agility, four arms raised defensively as the demonic energy swirled to reinforce its flesh.

Its grin had vanished — now it was baring its fangs in raw fury.

Ainen's Fire hurt it, and that one exchange told it that getting hit by his S-rank Fire Manipulation at 100% proficiency was a bad idea.

The air howled as its wind attribute surged, compressing into invisible scythes with purple demonic patterns that ripped through the air towards Ainen.

Ainen's pupil shrank. It was fast.

But he was faster.

'Take this.'

Ainen burst diagonally upward before jerking downward, releasing a fireball on the ground near the Ape where some wood was gathered.

The fireball burst and instantly burned the wood completely, spreading smoke in a dense manner with heat control and creating a smoke screen.

But Ainen could still sense and see the Ape.

He could sense its location with Heat Field, another new spell he had created that could detect everything within a certain range around him, depending on the Mana spent.

And he could also see its location with Mystic Chef's Eyes.

The Ape couldn't see or sense Ainen, nor did it bother to try.

It just roared and burst with wind all around it, blowing away all the smoke.

But that was its mistake.

Ainen was right behind it, ten meters away, completely conversed until the Ape made a move.

His finger was pointed at the Ape, and he unleashed a spell.

In less than half a second, a beam was unleashed from his finger.

Laser Flare.

A line of blinding white fire shot out instantly, so fast it was almost silent, only a sharp crack following a heartbeat later. The beam struck the Ape squarely in the head.

For a fraction of a second, its skull glowed like a lantern.

Then.

BOOM!
