Chapter 196: Tomb of Suspicion (Part 2)
"Fool." Zhang Chen shook his head after seeing Zhong Xiang's actions, choosing not to step forward and compete with him.
Sure enough, the next moment, the black and white space suddenly shivered slightly, and then a black and white airflow sprang up, twining like two pythons toward Zhong Xiang.
Zhong Xiang, however, had some tricks up his sleeve. With a quick movement, he dodged the Yin Yang Qi, landing directly on the altar, then reached out for the tray. But who would have thought a metallic-colored shield suddenly appeared, covering the treasure and keeping Zhong Xiang's hand at bay.
"How could such a mere trick trouble me? Fire restrains metal; watch how I break you!" With disdain and ease in his voice, Zhong Xiang released flames around him. However, despite the intense burning, the shield remained unscathed.
It was just this delay that allowed the black and white airflow to follow like shadows and, in an instant, bisect Zhong Xiang.
"Damn!" Zhong Xiang reincarnated from the flames, cursing uncontrollably. But before he could regain his footing, the black and white airflow came slicing through again.
"Help me!" At this point, Zhong Xiang was flustered, wanting to escape within the array, but before he could take a step, the black and white airflow repeatedly sliced through, turning his figure into a mass of flames, which scattered in all directions in an instant.
Forced into a corner, Zhong Xiang resorted to playing dead on the ground to avoid the cutting, watching Zhang Chen approach with a Sealing Rune in hand, grinning lewdly. Zhong Xiang was so angry that his nose was skewed, but since the black and white airflow was still there, he dared not move an inch, allowing Zhang Chen to stick the Sealing Rune onto his body.
"Why won't the anomaly attack you?" Zhong Xiang, with the Sealing Rune attached, lay on the ground, glaring at Zhang Chen, eyes filled with disbelief.
"Because it only attacks fools." Zhang Chen's lips curved in a sarcastic smile, and he walked towards the altar with his chest high.
Upon hearing Zhang Chen's words, Zhong Xiang turned green with anger, "You arrogant scoundrel! One day, I'll show you who the real fool is."
Watching Zhang Chen slowly approach the altar, the next moment a metallic-colored shield appeared, blocking Zhang Chen's path. Observing the shield, Zhang Chen probed a bit, but Zhong Xiang scoffed, "Even a Tier Twelve Divine Being couldn't break this shield, and you think you can? Dream on!"
Zhang Chen paid no heed to Zhong Xiang's words, pondering briefly before unleashing the Five-Colored Divine Light, shattering the golden shield which then turned into a stream of golden light, absorbed by the Five-Colored Divine Light, unveiling the entire altar.
"How is this possible!" Zhong Xiang was stunned upon seeing this.
Then Zhang Chen ascended the altar, slowly pulling away the red silk, pausing momentarily as a pair of scissors came into view.
The scissors had a peculiar design, imprinted with dragon-shaped runes from the tip to the handle, resembling two entwined, strangely shaped True Dragons, appearing mighty and overbearing.
One of the True Dragons was white, the other black. However, at the moment, the scissors were covered with fine cracks that seemed ready to shatter, with previous sensations emanating from within the scissors.
"The scissors are already damaged, unable to unleash their full power, merely relying on the rune formations for any effectiveness."
"In the past, 'Earth' swept across the world, gathering countless followers and raising this treasure. But later, 'Earth' went through some horrific battle, even battering this treasure." Zhang Chen couldn't help but feel heartache, lamenting it was his treasure and thinking he should have listened to that bastard Great Freedom Celestial Demon's advice to leave the treasure in the nest to continue to nurture it within the Land of Creation.
As if sensing Zhang Chen's sorrowful emotions, the scissors trembled and vibrated lightly, seemingly responding to Zhang Chen's words.
Zhang Chen reached out, taking the scissors in hand, channeling Magical Power into it. The next moment, the scissors vibrated, revealing two ancient letters: Golden Scissors.
"Golden Scissors?" Zhang Chen read the words aloud, and the next moment, the scissors turned into a black and white flowing light, disappearing from Zhang Chen's hand, entering his Cyan Lotus.
The Magical Power perfused the Golden Scissors. Zhang Chen could feel its looming joy, as if the Magical Power could mend its injuries.
"To restore the Golden Scissors, I need to hasten my Qi Cultivation, for Magical Power can repair the scissors. That, at least, is good news for me," Zhang Chen mused silently.
The Golden Scissors were the core of the Rune Array. With Zhang Chen retrieving the Golden Scissors, the array collapsed, and the altar before him vanished, everything shattering amidst, leaving only a pitch-black, endless passageway before him.
"What treasure is that?" Zhong Xiang hurriedly got up from the ground when he saw the formation disappear, eyeing Zhang Chen.
"I don't know!" Zhang Chen deflected, thinking of Zhong Xiang as a dead man, intending to kill him once he acquired the treasures within the grand tomb.
"Don't speak, be mysterious, what for?" Zhong Xiang grumbled, standing behind Zhang Chen.
Zhang Chen's eyes settled on the dark, endless passageway, gesturing imperiously to Zhong Xiang, "You lead the way."
Zhong Xiang looked disgruntled, but when he saw Zhang Chen make the poking gesture, he instinctively covered his rear and reluctantly shuffled towards the darkness.
