I Choose In The One Piece Class, Do I Have A Choice?

Chapter 76: The Temptation Of Jelly Beans

"How… how is this possible? Lei Lina is the captain!"

"Susie is just her subordinate, nowhere near as strong!"

"Not only that, Lei Lina should've flattened Susie with ease!"

"Did Susie snap? Is she out for blood?"

"No way… could it be the jelly bean that Master Finn gave her?"

"Impossible! A jelly bean that powerful?"

The female soldiers buzzed with disbelief, their eyes wide as they whispered.

"My face! My beautiful face!"

Lei Lina staggered to her feet, her trembling fingers brushing her swollen cheek, now resembling that of a pig's. Her scream tore through the air.

"Susie! You wretch! You dare strike your superior? You're dead!"

Lei Lina, obsessed with her appearance, was spiraling into fury. Seeing her once-prized face grotesquely disfigured, her rage boiled over. "Seize Susie! Now!" she screeched.

The soldiers, who had been mocking Susie earlier, froze. They were Lei Lina's cronies, but this wasn't just any ship—this was Finn's warship, and they knew all too well that Finn held the final say.

"You don't need to look at me like that," Finn said casually, spreading his hands. "I'm a generous man. If you're her loyal dogs, go ahead—do as she commands."

Finn smirked, adding with a challenge, "If you defeat Susie, I'll grant you all a chance to return to your former ranks."

The soldiers exchanged excited glances.

"Seriously?"

Finn nodded, then turned to Susie. "You took down Lei Lina, so here's another reward—another jelly bean. But this time, you're up against six of them. Beat them so they can't stand, and I'll give you one more."

The thrill in Finn's voice electrified Susie. She had taken down Lei Lina in mere moments after eating one jelly bean. What could she do with three?

Before the six soldiers could even react, Susie lunged forward.

"She's charging at us alone? Who does she think she is?!"

"Take her down! Avenge Lei Lina and get back our ranks!"

The battle was over in seconds. Thuds and screams echoed through the air as, one by one, the female soldiers fell, battered and broken. Each of them hit the ground, their faces swollen beyond recognition, just like Lei Lina.

The entire crew stood in stunned silence.

If Susie beating Lei Lina had seemed like a fluke, this was irrefutable proof: the jelly beans had turned Susie into a powerhouse.

These weren't just jelly beans—they were something else entirely.

Susie stood tall amidst the groaning soldiers, her chest heaving with exhilaration. She had been bullied and belittled for so long, but now, under Finn's protection, she was a force to be reckoned with.

Approaching Finn, she dropped to one knee, saluting with utmost respect. "Master Finn, Susie swears her eternal allegiance!"

It had taken just minutes for Susie to go from an outcast to pledging her life to Finn. To the others, it seemed absurd. But Susie knew exactly what she was doing—she was hitching her fate to someone who could truly change her life.

"Very good," Finn said, satisfied. "From now on, you'll be the captain of my Independent Battalion's first team." He reached into his pocket and pulled out three jelly beans.

The sight of the jelly beans left the remaining soldiers breathless.

"These are your reward."

Susie's eyes widened, but instead of grabbing all three, she hesitated. "Master, you promised me two. There are three here…"

Finn's eyes gleamed with approval. "You're not greedy. I like that. Take all three, Susie. You've earned them."

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Susie opened her mouth, and Finn placed the jelly beans on her tongue. The candy melted, spreading warmth and energy throughout her body. The power coursing through her veins made her nearly three times stronger than before.

Finn extended his hand. "Cut the back of my hand. Seal your loyalty."

Without hesitation, Susie took his palm and kissed it deeply.

"From this moment on," Finn announced, "you are Susie, Captain of my Independent Battalion's first team!"

"Yes, sir!" Susie stood, no longer the weak girl she once was, but a warrior with pride and power radiating from her every movement.

Finn turned to the other soldiers, who were watching with anticipation.

Having seen Susie's transformation, they understood what was at stake. This was their chance to change their fate.

With a smirk, Finn pulled out a handful of jelly beans, and the soldiers gasped.

"You've been the first to support me. Swear your loyalty, and I'll reward you with two jelly beans each."

Immediately, a soldier stepped forward. "Lieutenant Junior Grade Daphne, sir, I swear my loyalty to you!" She knelt and kissed the back of Finn's hand.

"Very good. Open your mouth."

Two jelly beans slipped past her lips, and with them, her strength soared.

One by one, the soldiers followed. "Sir! Ensign Shelley pledges her loyalty!" "Ensign Avril, sir, I swear allegiance!" Each of them received their coveted jelly beans, their power increasing exponentially.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement. These soldiers weren't just swearing allegiance to Finn—they were chasing power, driven by the promise of strength and a brighter future.

"Sir, I pledge my loyalty too!"

"Me too, Master Finn!"

"Give me jelly beans!"

The voices clamored, soldiers desperate to gain favor.

"Quiet!" Finn's voice cut through the chaos like a blade.

Instantly, silence fell.

He sneered at them. "You call that loyalty? Now, you seek my favor because of what you've seen? You disgust me."

Heads hung low in shame. They had hesitated when they could have pledged sooner, and now they were scrambling for scraps.

Finn's voice softened into something colder. "I only need 2,000 soldiers. Prove yourselves during training, and you'll earn your place. But make no mistake: each of you will only receive one jelly bean."

The soldiers who had already pledged allegiance, including Susie, stood straighter, their pride swelling. They had received more than the others. They had proven themselves earlier and now reaped the rewards.

But for those who had hesitated, there was only regret.

Among them was Lei Lina, who tried to stand tall. "I should have a fair chance too," she muttered.

Finn turned, his eyes flashing with amusement. "Fair?" He surveyed the crowd. "If any of you believe Lei Lina deserves a second chance, raise your hand."

Not a single hand went up.

"See?" Finn said softly. "Fairness has spoken. You... are no longer qualified."

Lei Lina's heart sank as cold realization washed over her.

It was too late.
