Chapter 74: Medical Ninjutsu · Emotional Disorder (4/5)
Early the next morning, the Marines gathered for training at the South Bay Training Ground.
"Did you hear? Master Finn is selecting 2,000 female soldiers to be his playthings today."
"What? I thought it was a selection for an elite unit?"
"How naive are you? Master Finn just arrived at Naval Headquarters and already crippled part of Vice Admiral Tea Dolphin's squad, and you saw what he did to the instructor yesterday!"
"Hiss! Is he really that much of a scumbag?"
"Of course! The guy's notorious, a walking disaster!"
As the female Marines gossiped, Finn appeared in front of the group.
"Look, that scumbag is here!" one of the soldiers shouted.
Finn raised an eyebrow. Oh? He thought. Has my reputation gotten this bad already?
"You there," he said, pointing to the soldier who had shouted. "Come forward."
The female soldier's face paled, her body trembling as she stepped out of the line. "M-Master Finn... I didn't mean anything by it! Please, don't choose me..."
Finn scanned her up and down, then waved dismissively. "Go back to the line."
The soldier exhaled in relief. "Thank you, Master Finn, thank you—"
"Thank yourself," Finn interrupted. "This young master only picks beautiful women, and you... you didn't make the cut."
Her expression froze, torn between relief and insult. She had narrowly avoided Finn's supposed "clutches," but the backhanded compliment stung deeply.
The surrounding soldiers chuckled softly, a mix of awkward amusement and cruel satisfaction. Despite the situation, a certain smugness washed over them—at least they hadn't been called ugly.
As Finn walked down the rows of assembled soldiers, he stopped in front of a strikingly beautiful Marine.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"Leah, sir," she replied with a confident tilt of her chin.
"Good. You're beautiful—goddess-level among these soldiers. Step forward."
Leah's face twisted in annoyance. "Goddess-level? Do you think I don't know how many men have thrown themselves at my feet? I don't need you to tell me what I already know." She rolled her eyes, clearly unimpressed by Finn's status as Garp's grandson.
Finn turned to Sengoku. "Grandpa Sengoku, is there no discipline here? This soldier refuses to follow orders."
Sengoku smiled, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Finn, you're in charge of the selection. Handle it however you see fit. But remember, if you use violence in front of all these Marines, the consequences won't be pretty."
Finn clenched his jaw. Old fox, he thought. Sengoku was playing him, giving him just enough rope to hang himself.
With a casual smile, Finn stepped closer to Leah and lightly tapped her face.
"Fine," he said. "No violence. I'll leave a different mark."
Unbeknownst to Leah, Finn had used a technique—Medical Ninjutsu: Chaotic Emotions. It was designed to disrupt a person's emotional hormones, throwing them into a state of uncontrollable mood swings.
Leah's expression flickered, and within seconds, she burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"Hahaha! I feel amazing!" she shouted.
Suddenly, her mood shifted, and tears streamed down her face. "Why am I so miserable?!" she wailed, before becoming angry, her voice rising to a furious pitch. "This is unfair! I'm so mad!"
The soldiers around her were horrified, backing away as Leah cycled through waves of extreme emotions, unable to control herself.
"What's happening to her?"
"What did Finn do?"
Panic spread among the female Marines as they watched Leah fall apart.
"Relax," Finn said, his voice calm but firm. "She'll be fine in a day. Consider this a lesson. I won't physically punish anyone, but disrespect will come at a cost."
The soldiers fell silent, unsure whether to fear or resent him more.
Finn continued down the rows until he stopped in front of another soldier.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"M-Miri, sir," the young Marine stammered, visibly shaken after witnessing what had just happened to Leah.
"Do you want to step forward? Or would you prefer to end up like her?" Finn's voice was casual, but the threat hung in the air.
Miri was petrified. She didn't want to be under the command of someone with such a reputation, but the idea of becoming an emotional wreck like Leah terrified her even more.
Before she could decide, Sengoku interjected.
"Now listen up!" Sengoku addressed all the female Marines. "Just because Finn is selecting you today doesn't mean you'll be stuck with him forever. There's a military exercise two months from now. If Finn loses, his battalion will be disbanded, and you'll all return to your previous posts."
The soldiers exchanged glances, their expressions brightening with hope.
"Really? We just have to wait it out?"
"We can resist his training! If he loses, we're free!"
A ripple of excitement passed through the ranks. Suddenly, the situation didn't seem so dire.
Finn suppressed a smirk. Nice try, old man, he thought. Sengoku was clearly trying to sabotage him, encouraging the soldiers to resist. But Finn wasn't worried. He had his trump cards—the attribute-enhancing pills and the two-dimensional version of Wu Mu's suicide note.
After selecting his soldiers at the South Bay training ground, Finn moved to the East Bay, completing his selection with a total of 3,825 female Marines.
"Finn, your number's off," Sengoku said with a sly grin.
Finn shrugged. "Grandpa Sengoku, considering the traps you've laid for me, I figured a little extra wouldn't hurt. Besides, I plan to eliminate 1,825 through training. I'll only keep 2,000 for the final exercises."
Sengoku thought for a moment, then waved his hand dismissively. "Fine. Take them all. Let's see if you can pull off a miracle."
With a nod, Finn led his new battalion of soldiers away, a determined glint in his eye. Sengoku might have set the stage for his failure, but Finn had no intention of losing.
