Chapter 46: Issue An Undercover Mission To The Three Of Cp9
"Pfft~"
Lucci spat out a mouthful of blood as his leopard form was forcibly reverted back to his original state. He glanced over at Blueno, who, though equally injured, seemed to understand what had to be done.
Suddenly, there was a crash!
A door materialized on the floor beneath the three of them, and they fell through it, disappearing in a splash as the door closed behind them.
Boom!
The floor returned to its original state, and Finn remained unfazed. He had let them escape on purpose. While killing them would've been easy, it was far more amusing to let them go.
An hour later, Finn pulled out his transponder snail and made a few adjustments. He modified the transponders of Lucci, Kaku, and Blueno, cutting off any incoming calls from outside. The three could still communicate with each other, but any other outgoing calls would be redirected to Finn's specially configured line.
Once everything was set, Finn mimicked Spandam's voice and made the first call—to Lucci.
At that moment, the three of them were nursing their wounds at Blueno's bar. Kalifa had already left to pack for her next mission, assigned by the real Spandam.
Lucci's transponder snail rang.
"Yes, sir," Lucci answered after seeing it was a direct line from Spandam's office. "I'm Lucci."
"Lucci, regarding the Pluton situation, I've just received word. CP0 will be taking over from here."
Finn, imitating Spandam's voice, relayed the false orders.
Hearing this, Lucci's brow furrowed. CP0? He couldn't help but feel insulted. Did they think CP9 wasn't capable enough?
"Hey, Lucci, are you listening to me?" Finn pushed, maintaining Spandam's tone.
After a brief pause, Lucci replied calmly, "Understood. We'll pack up and return shortly."
"No! There's no need for you to return. The World Government has assigned you a new undercover mission," Finn continued.
"A new mission?" Lucci asked, intrigued.
"That's right. Listen carefully, Lucci. This mission is top secret and must not be mentioned to anyone else, not even your team. Your new task is to infiltrate the Beasts Pirates. As a Zoan-type user, you're exactly what Kaido's crew is looking for."
Lucci's eyes gleamed with interest. The Beasts Pirates? One of the Four Emperors. This was far more exciting than dealing with blueprints.
"What do I need to do?" Lucci asked.
"Your objective is to fully integrate yourself into the Beasts Pirates, rise through the ranks, and aim for a position among Kaido's top three commanders. Until further notice, you are to cut off contact with everyone but me. If anyone else tries to reach you, ignore them."
After a brief pause, Finn added, "Also, if I contact you, I will give you a specific passphrase first. If I don't say it, even if we meet face to face, don't trust me. We can't have anyone impersonating me."
Lucci narrowed his eyes, sensing the gravity of this mission. It was even more secretive than the Pluton investigation.
"What's the passphrase?" he asked.
"I'm an idiot."
"…What?"
"The passphrase is 'I'm an idiot.' No one will ever guess it. If I don't say that, don't trust me."
Lucci rolled his eyes but begrudgingly agreed. As silly as it sounded, it was so absurd that no one would think of it.
"Yes, sir," he replied.
"Good. Now, leave immediately and keep this mission to yourself. Your teammates have their own separate assignments, so there's no need to inform them."
"Understood."
As the call ended, Lucci set down the transponder snail.
"Boss, what's going on?" Kaku asked, applying medicine to his injuries.
"Don't ask too many questions," Lucci replied. "You two stay here. I have to leave."
Without another word, Lucci walked out. Kaku and Blueno exchanged confused glances.
Shortly after, both of their transponder snails rang as well, each receiving similar instructions from the "Spandam" they trusted.
Blueno was ordered to infiltrate the Big Mom Pirates, aiming for a position within her cadre. Kaku, meanwhile, was assigned to infiltrate the Whitebeard Pirates, targeting a captain-level role.
None of them suspected anything, as the orders came from their dedicated line. After gathering their belongings, each set off on their respective missions.
Watching from afar, Finn grinned. He found the whole situation amusing. With their skills, the three of them might actually manage to rise within these pirate crews. It would be interesting to see how it all unfolded.
As Finn reflected on the chaos he had set in motion, a system notification chimed in his mind.
Ding! Congratulations to the host! Reward: 1 Supreme Edition Marine warship! 10,000 Michelin three-star desserts! 10,000 top-tier Manchu Banquet meals!
The rewards had arrived.
Finn's mood brightened. It seemed that Iceburg had kept his promise, and the Pluton blueprints had indeed been destroyed.
