Chapter 108: Endless Lifespan Arrived! ! (2/5)
The sudden sound of hissing filled the air.
Everyone froze. A gasp rippled through the crowd, sharp and heavy. Especially the female soldiers—they found themselves gripped by the scene, some feeling a strange empathy. As they watched Monet's fall, they couldn't help but imagine themselves in her place, caught in the chaos of that moment.
"Damn, this guy's a thorn in my side!" Robin growled, wincing as he subconsciously rubbed his own back, as if feeling the impact Monet had just suffered.
Monet crashed to the ground, tossed aside like a ragdoll by Finn. She tumbled into the hands of the female soldiers, shackled in Seastone cuffs.
Suddenly, an explosion ripped through the air.
"Ghost‧Bamboo!"
Virgo's voice boomed across the battlefield, his form vanishing in a blur.
He was moving like a cannonball, hurtling toward Finn, the bamboo flute in his hands gleaming with dark Armament Haki. Its furious spin created a deafening hum, the air thick with its deadly power.
"Die!" Virgo roared, his eyes blazing with fury. Finn had already unnerved him, and Monet's defeat had rattled him further. If he didn't put everything on the line now, they were all doomed.
Clang!
A blade flashed, a burst of light cutting through the chaos. Tashigi had drawn her sword.
Puchi!
Virgo's charge stopped mid-air as Tashigi's strike sent him crashing to the ground. Blood sprayed from his chest, pooling beneath him. The mighty Virgo was defeated.
A voice echoed in Finn's mind.
Ding! Captured 15 members of the Donquixote Family. You are eligible for the reward: endless life!
Ding! Would you like to claim your reward now?
Finn grinned. "Claim it."
Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have been rewarded with endless life!
Immediately, Finn felt a surge of energy. Every cell in his body vibrated with new life, a transformation so profound it left him breathless. He could feel it—an invincible vitality flooding him, strengthening him. He would never age, never weaken.
"Sir, what about the people in the factory?" Hina's voice broke through his thoughts.
Finn nodded thoughtfully and turned to the nearby Marines. "Among you, who holds the highest rank?"
A Marine officer stepped forward. "That would be me, sir." His voice was steady, though respect and uncertainty colored his expression.
"What's your name?"
"Wallace Commodore, sir!" he replied, saluting sharply.
"Good," Finn said, "I'm leaving the factory workers in your hands. Investigate thoroughly. Arrest the guilty, release the innocent."
"Yes, sir!" Wallace snapped another salute and barked orders to his squad, leading them toward the factory.
Hina approached Finn again. "What now?"
Finn smiled. "We head back to the warship. We'll rest in Dressrosa for a few days."
Soon after, the group was back aboard the massive warship. Monet and her sister Granose were locked in specialized cells, while the other Donquixote Family members were held temporarily at the dockside prison.
"Master, aren't we going to look for Violet?" Tashigi asked, her soft voice pulling at Finn's attention.
Finn chuckled. "She'll come to us. She's probably tied up with the royal family for a while. We'll give her some time. Besides…" He took Tashigi's hand gently. "I haven't trained you in swordsmanship for a few days. How about we use the time to sharpen your skills?"
Tashigi blushed slightly, her heart warming at the offer. "Yeah, I'd like that."
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
"Master, Violet is here," Tashigi announced, finding Finn on the deck where Robin was practicing Armament Haki under Chuanlan's guidance.
"Oh?" Finn released Robin from his arms, looking intrigued. "Where?"
"On the pier. She brought someone else with her too."
"Someone else?" Finn raised a brow. "Let's go check it out."
With a swift leap, Finn and Tashigi made their way to the pier. There, Violet stood alongside a younger woman—Rebecca.
Before Finn could speak, Rebecca stepped forward, her eyes glistening with resolve. "Master Finn! I've heard my aunt agreed to leave with you to secure your help, but she's the only daughter my grandfather has left. Please… don't take her away!"
Violet rushed forward, her face flushing. "Master Finn, I'm so sorry! Rebecca insisted on seeing you. I had no idea she would say that!"
Finn waved it off with a smile. "It's alright." He turned to Rebecca, kneeling to meet her gaze. "Listen, little one. I didn't force your aunt to do anything. Even if I had, do you think it's fair to make such demands of me?"
Rebecca bit her lip, embarrassed. "I… I could take her place," she said quietly. "Let her stay with my grandfather. I'll go with you instead."
"Rebecca!" Violet gasped, pulling her into a protective embrace. "You're young and impulsive. This country needs you to inherit the throne!"
Rebecca shook her head defiantly. "I'm not suited for it!"
"You will be," Violet insisted. "In time."
As the two women argued, Finn exchanged glances with Tashigi and Robin, all of them helplessly amused.
"Master," Tashigi said softly, "Rebecca's heart is in the right place. She's just not thinking things through."
Robin laughed. "Why don't we just take them both, Finn?"
Finn grinned. "Sounds like a plan."
Rebecca blinked, confused. "Both of us? But… wouldn't that mean we're at a disadvantage now?"
Robin gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "Sweetheart, Finn saved your kingdom. The whole royal family could go with him, and it still wouldn't be a loss."
Violet smiled warmly, nodding in agreement. "She's right. Master Finn's kindness is greater than we can ever repay."
Finn stepped forward, his smile softening. "Rebecca, if I told you I could heal your father's leg, would you still feel like you're at a disadvantage?"
Rebecca's eyes widened, hope lighting up her face. "You can heal his leg?"
"Yes. Now, does it still feel like a bad deal?"
"No! No!" Rebecca quickly bowed, her heart full of gratitude. "If you can heal him, I'll serve you just as faithfully as my aunt!"
Finn chuckled. "There's no need for such devotion. Your aunt is a dancer on my ship. As for you… maybe a combatant?"
Violet blushed slightly. "Master Finn, we don't offer our service as some grand gesture. It's just… your kindness is so immense, it's all we can think to offer."
"Alright, then," Finn said, waving off the tension. "Let's go heal Cyrus. He's the one most suited for the throne anyway." With that, he led the group towards the palace, a smile tugging at his lips.
