I Build a Modern Shelter in Fantasy World

Chapter 118: Dimensional Bridge Manuscript

Hearing that was enough to make Gideon feel relieved. He offered to talk with her inside the guild, but Milena refused.

The adventurers had already grown to dislike Gideon and his team, so it would be better to discuss it somewhere else.

"There's a park nearby. We can talk there," Milena replied.

Gideon agreed. He turned to the side and told Luke to go on ahead while Lena would stay with him. According to the map, reaching the next city would take at least seven to eight hours of travel.

It was already four in the afternoon, and Gideon worried that if they forced themselves to leave now, something bad could happen along the way at night with the road passing through thick forests.

"Go and find the nearest inn. Take this," Gideon said, handing Luke a few silver coins.

Luke understood and quickly left. Gideon and Lena also stepped out, with Milena and Xia following behind.

Milena was right. The city park was not far from the guild. They didn't need a carriage to get there, and the evening atmosphere added to the crowd's liveliness.

Among all the places in the city, only the park was clean, lush, and well maintained. That was why so many people spent time there with their families or loved ones.

"I have to admit, seeing you arrive wearing clothes like that surprised me," Milena said.

"Are there many gold-ranked mages? Is gold the highest rank?" Gideon asked.

Milena shook her head as she walked.

"First question, yes, there are many gold-ranked mages, though most of them lived in the capital during times like this," she answered.

"Second question, no. The highest rank is Archmaster."

Gideon listened as they arrived at the park. Many men turned their eyes toward Milena's sexy outfit, while the women looked at her with jealousy.

"Is that spell very difficult?" Gideon asked.

The three of them stopped walking. Lena and Milena sat down on a bench while Gideon and Xia remained standing.

Milena nodded without explaining, but it was clear that the spell Gideon meant was one of the most difficult to use.

"I've heard of it. They call it the Dimensional Bridge spell," Milena said.

"How does it work?" Gideon asked.

"No one knows for sure. The last person who used it was a Sage 500 years ago. He vanished mysteriously," Milena explained.

"The magic of mages in the Kingdom of Moko isn't as great as in Luthe, but still better than Sisyla. If you want to trace that spell, you'll have to go to the Kingdom of Luthe."

"Luthe?" Lena asked.

Gideon cleared his throat and nodded. He wasn't sure if he could go there with the Kingdom of Moko already in turmoil.

But Milena knew more about magic than he did. If she was telling the truth, then their next goal was clear.

"With both kingdoms at war, I'm afraid that won't be easy."

"Is there an Archmaster in the Kingdom of Moko?" Lena asked.

Milena turned and nodded. The only Archmaster in Moko was Sigurd, an old man of 87 who held the position of Head of Moko's Magic Institute.

His position was prestigious, equal to a duke, and he was deeply respected by nobles and commoners alike.

For someone of Gideon's standing, it would be nearly impossible to meet such an important figure.

"We might be able to get certain information about the spell from him," Lena said.

"Yes, but he's an Archmaster. His condition has worsened, and the kingdom has restricted visits to him," Milena added.

Gideon turned around, pacing back and forth with his head full of possibilities and plans. He felt stuck. He had thought a mage like Milena could help, but it turned out she couldn't.

Her ability seemed too low to use such a spell, and the manuscript itself was mysterious and hard to find.

Am I supposed to build a rocket to get home? That's impossible!

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but we'll have to search for that spell," Gideon said.

Milena smiled as she sat back, watching Gideon's face grow more striking the harder he thought.

For some reason, his demeanor and presence reminded her of a chosen knight, even though he wielded weapons she found strange.

"If you need a lot of help, you could register a quest and put up a fantastic reward at the guild," Milena suggested.

"Would that work?"

"Far better than just waiting until you can go to Luthe. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong and the manuscript is still in Moko," Milena explained.

Lena stood and walked over to Gideon, pulling him aside so Milena wouldn't overhear. Milena smiled knowingly and told Xia to sit beside her so she wouldn't grow stiff.

"We need to make a plan," Lena said.

"We don't need to rush looking for that spell. Not only are we clueless about magic, but Milena also said the manuscript is mysterious and hard to find. Our best option is to focus on our current mission: investigating the information in the North," Lena explained.

She was right. Gideon realized he couldn't rush things this time. He had to move step by step, making sure all the information they gathered was reliable.

"Alright. We'll finish this mission first, then see about the manuscript," Gideon said.

Lena nodded. She suggested this not because she disliked magic, but because she didn't want Gideon to be burdened with even more.

Aside from the problems in the North, he also carried responsibilities in his own territory. If the spell manuscript was added on top of that, she feared he would break under the stress.

The two of them returned to Milena, who smiled as she waited to hear what Gideon would say.

"I'll start looking for the manuscript myself. Thank you for telling me what you know about that spell," Gideon said.

"You won't use the guild to look for it?" Milena asked.

Gideon and Lena exchanged a quick glance, then looked forward together. "I'll search for it myself. Right now, there's something I have to do, so I can't split my focus."

With a single exhale, Gideon knew Milena was disappointed. But she had no choice. They had just met, and though she had shared what she knew, in the end it was still Gideon's decision.

"Very well. It's your choice. I won't interfere."

"Thank you, Lady Milena."

They said goodbye to her and walked out of the park, spotting Luke coming toward them. Gideon quickly pulled him back while his eyes lingered on Milena, who waved at him.

"A charming woman."

"You seriously want a woman who shows off her cleavage like that?" Lena muttered in annoyance.

"What's wrong with that? I don't have cleavage, she does. It makes up for what I lack."

"Both of you, stop arguing," Gideon ordered.

Luke and Lena nodded, following him toward the inn Luke had found. Luke, however, was curious about what they had discussed with Milena.

"What did you talk about?" Luke asked.

"A lot of things."

"But we still need to stay focused on our mission," Gideon said.

"As for that magic, I'll look for a solution later."
