I Become a Landlady in the Game World

Chapter 329: A New Method

"How are we going to get out?" Before Frieda could answer, a slave listening nearby couldn't help but ask.

"People from Hope Village will meet us outside the territory..."

"So we just need to find a way to leave the territory, right?"

"Right," Finn nodded.

He knew the slaves did not only work on the estate; sometimes, they also had to take on tasks such as quarrying stone and gathering wood and other resources outside.

This was their chance.

But then a new problem arose.

The first group to escape would definitely succeed, but after one successful escape, it would not be so easy for a second group.

Someone immediately proposed this concern.

After looking around, Finn said directly, "Do you trust me? If you do, follow my commands. I will try my best to lead you all out, and I will leave with the last group of you."

Finn dared to do this because he had noticed on the way he had come that the entire Barnes Village had undergone a significant change due to the arrival of the team from Hope Village, especially the mercenary teams; although they typically accepted tasks through the Task Center, today they seemed to gather in the territory discussing something.

Regardless, Finn felt that Hope Village was up to something big this time.

Under such circumstances, their actions should be relatively well-conceived.

On his way, he had encountered members of the Blade Mercenary Team and a soldier from the soldier team who were on vacation enjoying themselves.

Normally, he wouldn't think much of it since the mercenaries in Barnes Village needed to maintain a good relationship with the soldier team to ensure that their gains weren't exploited too severely, but after Brooke had spoken so much to them and the ordinary people, he suspected that the mercenaries definitely had a secret connection with the soldiers.

And this secret might very well be related to leaving Barnes Village.

Previously, Barnes Village had imposed restrictions that touched many residents' nerves. Nobody left because they lacked the ability, but now, with the cooperation from other territories, the residents of Barnes Village were undoubtedly eager, especially considering the risk of the territory being taken over in a few days due to a Territory War.

Thus, those who couldn't leave Barnes Village immediately just needed to wait for the right opportunity.

The slaves also decided to trust Finn at his last words.

"We trust you."

"It can't get much worse than it is now, so trying won't hurt."

"I'd rather take a chance than live here in perpetual darkness and without freedom."

"Before, taking a chance meant death without hope, but now, it means a chance to live in freedom, which we are willing to do."

"…"

Most people gave Finn their utmost trust and affirmation, their gazes brighter than before.

Seeing this, Finn nodded directly, "I will notify you once the plan is finalized. For now, act as you usually do, don't arouse any suspicion, and additionally, I hope you group up in twos or threes to keep an eye on each other. It's not that I suspect you, but this matter is crucial for you, and if someone accidentally reveals it, you likely won't have a chance to leave."

A slave's identity is not the same as a resident's identity.

For residents, freedom is a given; a Lord of a territory cannot outright kill residents, but he can outright kill slaves.

He feared some might not dare to flee and would try to use this situation to rid themselves of their slave status, which could be much faster than escaping Barnes Village.

His reminder was mainly directed at a few among the slaves.

Slaves living together for a long time would definitely know each other's situations and know who was unreliable. So, to secure their future freedom, they would surely keep a tight watch on these unreliable ones, thus addressing a potential crisis in his "rescue effort."

"Okay." As expected, someone immediately responded to Finn.

"Then get to work!" Finn promptly took his leave.

He couldn't disturb their work any longer; if they didn't finish, they were sure to go hungry and might even get beaten.

"Mm." After being reminded, the slaves dispersed quickly and hurried to their tasks.

Of course, while heading to their workstations, those unreliable ones in the slave group were already being closely watched by the more reliable ones, and for safety, the rest were grouped in twos and threes.

At the scene, only Frieda and Finn remained.

"Thank you." Frieda was now recuperated and looked at Finn with gratitude in her eyes.

If this plan succeeded, she would regain her freedom and strive to become a mercenary to truly experience the world.

She had never thought about it before, because she knew it was impossible! But Finn had given her hope, which was precious.

"I hope that after you arrive at Hope Village, you can thank me with real actions, like treating me to a big meal?" Finn raised an eyebrow, his expression filled with the youthful vitality unique to young people.

Frieda listened and nodded seriously, "Okay!"

After bidding farewell to Frieda, Finn carefully left the area.

As he departed, many of the slaves working unconsciously watched his retreating figure until it completely disappeared, and only then did they withdraw their gazes.

Everything returned to peace, but the ripples that rose deep within their hearts were not so easily calmed.

Leaving Finn, however, went to find Brooke.

"I need a favor from you."

"What favor?" Brooke, knowing Finn's plan, was still quite willing to help him within his own capabilities.

"I need some Gold Coins." Finn said, with a bit of shyness in his demeanor.

If possible, he wouldn't have come to Brooke, but his plan was inevitably linked to gold.

"How much do you need? And what do you plan to do? Can you tell me about it?" Brooke agreed without hesitation, but he was very curious about what Finn intended to do.

He wanted to know what good idea this clever boy had come up with.

Finn listened, hesitated for a moment, but ended up telling him the truth.

"I want to buy Stone and wood from the territory."

"For Stone, with the Territory War upcoming, won't it be unlikely for Barnes Village to release its stock?" Brooke unconsciously spoke out.

Listening, Finn nodded, "If the stock can't be touched, we'll have to collect it anew. As long as I can pay the initial costs, there will be people continuously collecting it. Of course, Professionals won't care about this sum of money. It's likely that ordinary Residents will go, and besides ordinary Residents, there's a high chance that slaves might be sent out as well."

That last sentence was the key point.

Finn needed to allow the slaves to leave the territory legitimately.

As long as they left, as long as someone was there to meet them, the world would be wide open.

After hearing this, Brooke looked at Finn in surprise.

This idea was indeed quite good.

Moreover, it was not only applicable to slaves but also to residents.

"I'm willing to lend you the money, but before I do, would you be willing to meet a few people with me?" Brooke knew he wasn't smart enough to maximize the benefits of this situation.

But other people could.

If they could help refine the plan, perhaps this action by Barnes Village would go smoother than planned, and it might even become an essential part of it.

"…Okay." Finn paused for a moment, excitement flashing in his eyes.

He guessed that the people Brooke wanted him to meet must also be from Hope Village, and probably more influential ones.

What he knew even more clearly was that if he performed well, not only could he make some money, but he could also have a chance to enter the ranks of Hope Village's forces.

These mercenaries sent from Hope Village were certainly formidable.

Afterward, Brooke told Finn to wait for news, then secretly contacted Zhong Yongnian and his group.

Late at night, in an ordinary civilian house, Zhong Yongnian, Yun Juncai, Watt, Ellis, Brooke, and Finn gathered together.

As soon as everyone arrived, Zhong Yongnian and his companions immediately focused their attention on Finn.

This time their roles were different, and they had mentioned that unless necessary, they should not contact each other.

But now, suddenly getting in touch definitely had something to do with this unfamiliar face.

Was there something special about this boy?

Finn felt the focused gazes on himself and couldn't help his legs shaking.

Heavens! He was so nervous!

His pleading eyes unconsciously fell on Brooke.

Brooke gave him a comforting smile, then said to Zhong Yongnian and the others, "The reason I called you here suddenly is because he told me about a new method."
