chapter 3
Episode
3 .
The atmosphere in Viscount Trafel’s manor was calmer than usual.
The faces of the serfs in the village at the mouth of the manor were also full of pensiveness.
Iden looked at their faces and asked Xerath, who was riding next to him.
“Why do all of you look like that?”
“See you over there.”
After turning the corner, the lord’s castle was seen in the direction Xerath pointed.
Dozens of people were hanged to death in the castle tower, but some of the corpses had already progressed to decay, making them look horrifying to look at.
“What is it? Did you rise up with an uprising as a group?”
“No way. The Viscount’s daughter lost her virginity to this guy.”
Xerath pointed at the half-mad incubus.
“It is for a simple reason. The viscount judged that the guards hadn’t done their job.”
It was an era when people’s lives were less than flies. Iden was also accustomed to death like that before he knew it.
It was a bit bittersweet. I feel like I’m slowly melting into this damn world.
“hahahaha, it looks uncomfortable. But if you’re in the position of the viscount, there’s nothing you can’t understand.”
“Rather than that, how long do we have to keep this bastard alive?”
“You will find out soon.”
In fact, I roughly guessed the reason for capturing the demon alive. The private revenge of the viscount. But that the church caters to individual convenience? The church Iden knew was not such a group.
The thought reached the gate and was cut off. A soldier rushed over and greeted Iden and Xerath.
“Well, horseback riding is originally prohibited inside the castle, but the situation is such. Come on, let’s go to the hall. be well.”
Xerath smiled.
“Looks like that poisonous young lady is running rampant again. Let’s go.”
There was a hall on the second floor inside. Aiden handed the reins to the coachman and said,
“Master, go first. I’m going to put this guy in jail.”
“No way. I will bring you.”
Bringing the devil to the inner court of the lord’s castle. It wasn’t even funny, but Xerath was adamant.
Even as Iden, having the devil in sight was less disturbing. Because these people didn’t know what to do.
“If my predictions are correct, the Church has gone as far as it can go.”
“If an organization is to survive, it must not ignore its benefits.”
“Even that would be God’s will. That is very convenient.”
“It is blasphemy. You guys just skip this one time.”
The words he wanted to say rose to the top of his throat, but he managed to swallow them.
I untied the chain that was tied to the saddle and climbed the stairs.
As soon as I entered the hallway on the second floor, a high voice rang out.
“It has arrived! Hurry up and put yourself in front of me as a colonel!”
A woman’s voice full of venom. Aiden thought that maybe it belonged to the devil.
“Don’t be too surprised. The Viscount’s daughter seems to have a special side.”
It seemed that something difficult was about to happen.
Xerath took a deep breath and pulled the hall door left and right.
One or two knights and a young lady inside. And it was crowded with private soldiers and servants of viscounts.
The moment the door opened, the young lady shouted loudly and ran.
“Sebas Lee Bog!”
His eyes were full of life. Iden understood her vengeance.
As long as the devil had been dragged here, Sebas’ lifeline was held by the young lady.
‘I lost money.’
If noble hypocrisy is the power to change the envy of others into divine power, the seeker of destruction was a trait that increased stats by killing demons.
Even if you have to catch a low-level demon like Sebas, the range to climb is minimal, but the reality is that even one stat is regrettable. It wasn’t that cool.
What can I do though? Aiden pulled the chain and sent the demon under the young lady’s feet.
“what? why were you so upset? If you do this, you will not die soon.”
The young lady’s voice cooled down as she looked at Sebas.
“I was trying to make you beg to kill me. I was playing with it and trying to kill it slowly.”
This era forces women to be chaste. Especially if you are aristocrat. That’s why the loss of the young lady was very great.
Iden knew that all too well, but taking a demon somewhere and torturing it was a bit difficult.
“hahahaha, I can’t help it. hey! Somebody come over and get this up.”
“That’s not okay.”
“what?”
The young lady looked up at Iden. After taking a quick look at Aiden’s whereabouts, he narrowed his brows.
“What are you saying you can’t do it?”
In the eyes of the young lady, Iden was only seen as a demon hunter.
“I don’t know what they would do if left alone. I’d rather die here.”
It was an excuse. Actually, I had to finish the work before Julie woke up.
Even then, if Sebas was still alive, Julie would not be able to escape from Magi.
Young Ae frowned as if she was offended.
“Ha, I’m still annoyed. The lowly thing is like this and that.”
The young lady walked over to Aiden. Spreading your palms wide and turning the swing was not a skill you had ever slapped on the cheek once or twice.
Of course, Iden’s big hand blocked it.
“You, you now… Are you crazy? Dare to touch the nobility? Go ahead, cut off his arm! Cut it!”
The knight standing behind the young lady grabbed the hilt.
“The knight over there. Don’t act rashly. This man is a knight belonging to the Order who returned from training as a paladin.”
At Xerath’s words, the knight couldn’t bear to draw his sword. Because I was well aware of the difference.
Paladins were monsters that could slaughter a few rank knights with one hand.
In the first place, he was not in a position to cut off his arm for touching a nobleman.
Young-ae also realized her mistake and lowered her voice.
“・・・・・I made it clear from the beginning.”
Aiden let out a deep sigh and released his wrist.
“I fully understand your anger. So, I will give you an acceptable death.”
Aiden immediately grabbed both of the demon’s ankles.
Then, like paper, tear it into two halves, meat and intestines. And blood spilled onto the floor.
It was an unbelievable sight for a human being to do. Everyone was overwhelmed and there was a silence.
Iron pudduck. When the young lady hit her butt in a puddle of black blood, Aiden held out her hand.
“Please be satisfied with this much.”
The young lady couldn’t answer anything, just hiccupped repeatedly. Inside the venue, only Xerath was smiling subtly, but no one opened their mouths.
Then, the door opened and the silence was broken.
“Bishop, are you here?”
Bishop and Viscount. Then armed recruits and some priests entered the hall.
“Inquisitor, what is all this about?”
“This is proof that Aiden has passed the final barrier. I also washed away the heartache of Lady Gyeomsa at this spot.”
When the Bishop glanced at the Viscount, the Viscount turned to his daughter.
Young Ae looked at Aiden, who was standing calmly, and nodded quickly.
The viscount swallowed a deep relief.
“Thank you infinitely for the sincerity of the church.”
Aiden also turned his head and saluted the bishop. And when our eyes met, Aiden’s expression turned a bit puzzled.
‘Archbishop Forel?’
It was because this man who was smiling benevolently was a very intrusive person.
If Xerath was an ambiguous position in the game, Archbishop Forel was openly a villain.
Demon hunters, knights, mages, adventurers, merchants, paladins…etc. No matter which route you choose, you will face Forel at least once.
I’d only bump into it in the middle of the game, but I couldn’t figure out why this guy was here right now.
‘Looks like he’s still a bishop.’
Should I cut the buds right away? That kind of worry passed by for a moment, but not now. This is because harming an innocent bishop could turn the church into an enemy.
There were many eyes, including Xerath.
“You are the famous Aiden. nice to meet you It’s Forel from the Southwest Parish Office.”
“I am also honored to meet you. Bishop.”
At Forrell’s beckoning, the new recruits quickly retrieved the demon’s corpse.
“I’m sorry, but can I ask for your understanding before I can get rid of the travel poison accumulated through training?”
“Please feel free to speak.”
“Thank you. Actually, I want to informally proceed with your ordination as a paladin here.”
Something strange was going on. It was common for the Holy Knight ordination ceremony to be held at the headquarters of the Church.
Traditionally, the pope appoints them directly. Is there something important enough to ignore? To be honest, it was okay for Aiden, but I asked first.
“May I ask why?”
“We have captured the situation that the Demonic Cult is active in the south of here.”
Demonicism was the main enemy of Baranchesism. It is interpreted as a devil worshiping group, but in fact, it was a route that players could also choose.
The occupations such as Dark Priest, Necromancer, and Dark Knight were also very diverse.
“If it’s a Demonic Cult…”
“They are impious. The children of the South are going missing. It’s an established fact that these guys are doing it.”
At the word ‘children’, Iden grasped Forel’s intentions.
Pedophile, Archbishop Forel.
“I don’t want anything more if you join the punitive force. As you know, aren’t paladins precious?”
At this point, most of the Paladins must be gathered at the headquarters of the Church.
This is because there are discussions about the recapture of the Holy Land.
It was a time when paladins, who were already lacking, were more valuable. Of course, if the flow goes, the first expedition will be canceled.
“I have already accepted the title of His Holiness the Pope. If only you agree, I will be appointed here. Would you like to join us?”
There will be no right of veto. Iden was rather willing. I was able to save time traveling back and forth to the headquarters of the denomination.
Above all, it is possible to pluck out the buds of Forel before they even germinate.
“I learned that the will of the church is the will of God. I will respond with a glorious opportunity.”
The bishop drew a benevolent arc.
“I will remember your dedication. God bless you.”
The bishop clapped his hands and refreshed the atmosphere.
A recruit handed the bishop a sword and a bible.
Xerath scanned the crowd.
“Everyone kneel.”
Nobles and commoners alike all knelt facing each other with Aiden and the bishop in between.
The prepared sword landed on Aiden’s shoulder.
“Here, a child born with God’s blessing grows up receiving God’s grace, and now wants to become God’s sword. If God permits, your eyes will light up the night, and tear through the black darkness…”
A lengthy reading ensued. Aiden put on a pious expression and calmly lowered his head.
Soon the bishop finished and closed the Bible.
“Iden. Will you dedicate your sword to God?”
“It is a dedication.”
“Get up.”
The bishop nodded his head in satisfaction.
“You are an official paladin from now on. You have the right of summary judgment, and no one other than the Church can disarm you or arrest the recruits.”
A few soldiers groaned and entered the hall carrying huge holy gauntlets and holy swords.
They were weapons made from minerals with the highest level of strength and plated with platinum.
Xerath shook his head.
“Every time I see you, I am amazed. Fighting wearing something like that? Are paladins not human? Aiden, what do you think?”
Instead of answering, Aiden took over the armed forces with one hand. Seeing that, Xerath made a very tired expression.
“It may sound rushed, but that’s how it really is. I’ll give you some recruits, so can you make a move tonight?”
Even when the old man was in heat, he seemed to be very strong. Aiden nodded, showing no disgust.
“I will live up to your expectations. Bishop.”
