Chapter 42.2
Stage 2-11. Runaway Misunderstandings
All Four of Us, Just Like That!?
With that, all escape routes were cut off.
“Reina… I understand how you feel. You’re nervous about… skipping work, right?”
“Y-yes! I mean, I never thought my first time would happen like this…”
“First time skipping, huh? Don’t worry. As someone with experience, I’ll guide you.”
“S-so, Ouga-kun really is experienced…”
“From now on, I’ll teach you everything about… a healthy work environment. So much that you’ll never want to go back to your old life.”
“S-so much!?”
“Yeah, plenty.”
He whispered those words softly into my ear.
Ah… Aah… I need an excuse, some way to refuse…
My mind spirals into chaos.
I can’t think straight; my ability to judge what’s right slips away moment by moment.
“……Alright.”
“Hm?”
“I… I’ll visit your room tonight, Ouga-kun.”
In the end, the words that came out were driven purely by instinct.
Even though I was the one who said it, I couldn’t believe it for a moment.
I chose, of my own will, to go to Ouga-kun’s room.
“Really? That’s great!”
Why does he look so overjoyed…?
While I’m utterly exhausted, he happily returns to the two people waiting by the doorway.
“Alright, see you later. I’ll ask about the student council work then too.”
That’s fine, but… will the atmosphere allow for that conversation to happen?
“Heh heh heh… I’m really looking forward to it now.”
Leaving those words behind, Ouga-kun exited the student council room like a storm passing through.
Watching his back disappear, I still couldn’t process what had just happened.
“I… I got steamrolled…”
…Huh? Am I really going to… end up in Ouga-kun’s hands tonight?
The professor always said I should stay close to him to catch him off guard.
But… this has gone way beyond anything I was prepared for.
Feeling drained, I slump over the desk.
“…How am I supposed to get out of this?”
I accepted his invitation, but there’s no way I can go through with it.
After all, my body… it’s not something I can show to anyone.
But what if… what if Ouga-kun were to accept this body of mine?
The thought of such an impossible miracle flickers through my mind.
…His warmth still lingers on my fingertips.
“…Heh.”
I place my hand over my chest once more.
And yet, the warmth of Ouga-kun’s touch remains, refusing to fade away.
