Chapter 34.2
Stage 2-3. Sometimes, Pain Is Necessary
I’m startled by the sudden appearance of an old lady right beside me.
She must’ve been here from the beginning, but Karen’s impact was so intense that I hadn’t noticed.
Alice, who had slipped behind me at the same time as the Headmaster, probably noticed her presence the moment she entered the room.
“You all seem to get along quite well. It’s a wonderful thing.”
Milfonti, the Headmaster, clapped her hands with a kind smile.
It seems that even the “Lightning Strike” can’t beat old age.
But they don’t seem to be getting along at all.
“…That doesn’t look like a friendly atmosphere to me.”
“Oh? Back in my younger days, we were much more rambunctious.”
“For example?”
“Well… We’d grab each other by the collars, throw punches, and the first one to pass out would lose. Ah, such fond memories. My opponents always got paralyzed after the first hit, though.”
Ehh…
She’s just as hot-blooded as Alice. How did she end up becoming such a gentle old lady?
That doesn’t sound like a pleasant memory at all.
“Reminiscing about it has me feeling nostalgic. Shall I teach you both how it’s done?”
“I’ll handle things, so please, Headmaster, stay where you are. Don’t move an inch.”
If she intervenes, it’ll turn into an all-out war.
I like seeing cute girls have fun together, but I really don’t want to see them beating each other up.
“Both of you, that’s enough. Don’t get too heated.”
“”Ouga (kun), who’s more important to you!?””
“You know the answer to that already. Both of you are precious to me.”
I said this while patting their heads.
And just like that, their hostility began to fade away.
Heh… Even though they’ve grown up, they’re still just barely adults.
Unlike their well-endowed chests, their emotional maturity hasn’t quite caught up yet.
If I guide them gently, like a parent, their anger will quickly subsi—
“I’m really happy. —But, the words I want to hear are different, you know?”
“I love your kindness too, Ouga. —But there are times when I want you to be clear with me.”
“—So, Headmaster. What’s the matter you wanted to discuss with us?”
I swiftly pivoted the conversation.
Remaining calm. Acting as if nothing had happened.
“Oh? It doesn’t seem fully resolved, but are you sure?”
“Ah, no problem at all.”
Don’t mind the fact that both of their hands are digging into my shoulders.
For now, I’d rather not see either of their faces, which I’m usually happy to look at.
“Well then, I’ll get to it. Though, I believe Reina has asked you several times already.”
“…Which means?”
“Yes. How about joining the student council after all?”
…So, the student council president’s mentor has finally made her move.
This proposal feels much more serious than before, and it’s giving me a headache.
Meanwhile, the cracking sound of bones grinding echoes from my shoulders.
…Maybe this pain has something to do with it.
