I Became the Mother of His Child

Chapter 252: Little Moon is Sleepy

"Really? Our Little Baby can already call someone!" Song Yuan Yao and Song Yuanming were immediately astonished when they heard the sound and looked toward Little Baby. "That's amazing," Song Yuanming praised while he ruffled Song Chengguang's head.

"Yeah! Our Little Baby is so smart!" Song Yuan Yao agreed with a smile.

Although she wasn't sure exactly when children typically started to talk, as some did so earlier than others, Little Baby was only about six months old! Starting to talk at around six months was indeed early, especially since both Niuniu and Song Chengguang had been over a year old before they started calling out 'mom' and 'dad.'

"He only calls 'dad'." This was what Xu Xiuxiu found most frustrating—it was simply unbearable. The little one could only say 'dad.' Despite her dedicated teaching of the word 'mom,' the little one's mouth seemed glued shut, with no intention of calling out 'mom,' which really made her jealous.

Yuanhuan, naturally thrilled that his daughter's first word was 'dad,' was over the moon and kept bragging that a daughter truly was a dad's precious little cotton-padded jacket. The next day, when he returned to the military, he vigorously trained his subordinates to celebrate his daughter calling him 'dad,' confusing the tough guys completely.

The tough guys might not understand Lieutenant Colonel Song's other abilities, but they were intimately familiar with his one hundred relentless methods of tormenting people.

"We're here." Yuanhuan carefully reached for Little Baby who stretched her little hand toward him. Then he turned his gaze to his two younger siblings, his tone and expression rather cold, but a glimpse into his eyes revealed a tenderness warm enough to melt the Arctic, "Did Little Baby miss daddy?" he cooed softly, then kissed Little Baby.

"Hehe..." Excited, Little Baby laughed, nibbling on her tiny fingers, then giggled and called out, "Dad..."

"Daddy is here!" Yuanhuan immediately responded to Little Baby's affectionate call.

"Dad..." It seemed that hearing Yuanhuan respond, Little Baby happily continued calling.

Yuanhuan felt like his ears were getting pregnant from his daughter's calls. Just then, while he was tired and largely unnoticed, Little Moon had had enough. The little one started crying loudly, "Wah..." Heartbroken to see everyone's attention on his sister and completely ignoring him, he wailed and kicked his little feet in frustration.

"Baa…" After crying, Little Moon successfully uttered his first word in life.

Although Little Moon's cry wasn't clear and even resembled the cry of an animal, Xu Xiuxiu, with her sharp hearing, caught the sound and excitedly hugged Little Moon to her chest, "Did Little Moon just call mommy? Such a good boy, wow, mommy's son is so good." Xu Xiuxiu smothered the little guy's face with kisses, "Little Moon, be good, can you call mommy again? Say mommy…" Xu Xiuxiu cooed in anticipation.

As soon as Little Moon asserted his presence, he successfully stopped crying. Despite his small size, the little guy was quite clever, always crying without shedding any tears, and now he was bewilderedly looking at Xu Xiuxiu, growing tired in her arms and slowly closing his eyes, completely ignoring Xu Xiuxiu's excited cooing.

"Sister, Little Moon is sleepy!" Xu Jingjing, who was very fond of the twins and also had some experience with children, knew that Little Moon was sleepy and needed to sleep. Seeing her third sister looking sad and impacted, she spoke up to remind her.

"I understand." Xu Xiuxiu reluctantly nodded and then prepared to go upstairs with Little Moon, "They need to sleep now, Yuanhuan, you take Little Baby back to the room, we'll be eating dinner soon." In fact, the meal was almost ready, but as the current head of the Song Family, Song Yuanhuan hadn't come back yet, and it didn't feel right for everyone to sit down and start feasting. Although the Song Family was a simple farming family, dinner couldn't start until the adults were at the table, and in Z City, where Father Song and Mrs. Song were absent, Song Yuanhuan had already stepped up as the head of the family.

"Okay." Song Yuanhuan, very aware of his precious daughter's routine, knew that the little one needed to sleep for two hours and thus followed with his daughter in his arms.

The boy and girl twins fell asleep quickly, likely due to their established biological clocks, and within less than ten minutes, the couple was back downstairs ready for dinner.

At the dinner table, Song Yuanhuan, usually reserved, started making polite conversation by asking Song Yuan Yao and Song Yuanming a few questions about the old home. Even though most of it had already been communicated over the phone, he still inquired about the health of the family elders at the dinner table. Knowing that the older generation was healthy, the atmosphere at the table became even more harmonious.

"There are many places to enjoy in Z City. Your second sister-in-law and I have been busy recently. If you siblings want to go out and explore, I can arrange someone for you." Song Yuanhuan, as the older brother, definitely needed to show them around. The problem was just that he and Xu Xiuxiu hadn't had the time recently, but that didn't mean he could neglect his brother and sister; arranging for someone was the most appropriate.

"Thanks, second brother." Song Yuanming immediately showed a pleased smile. Already sixteen years old, he was quite drawn to the big city and now that he was in Z City for the summer vacation, he was planning to make the most of it.

Song Yuan Yao and Song Yuanming's anticipations for their outings were different. When she heard Song Yuanhuan deciding to make arrangements, a hint of hesitation showed on her face. Her gaze lingered on Xu Jingjing for a moment, and then Song Yuan Yao gathered the courage to speak, "Second brother, you don't need to arrange for me, I'd like to work at my second sister-in-law's restaurant here in Z City for the summer." Song Yuan Yao said this with shaky confidence, but immediately lowered her gaze after speaking.

"Oh?" Song Yuanhuan was surprised by Song Yuan Yao's words.

Song Yuan Yao was instantly alarmed. Among the Song Family, the person she feared and respected the most was her second brother, Song Yuanhuan, who carried an aura of keeping strangers at bay. Although she was the younger sister and Song Yuanhuan was stern, he didn't know that he needed a softer approach with his sister, leading Song Yuan Yao to always feel a bit scared around him. Now, she didn't know how much courage it took to speak up, and Song Yuanhuan's questioning response immediately made Song Yuan Yao anxious.

"It's like this." Xu Jingjing, seeing Song Yuan Yao's baffled expression, stepped in to explain. Her demeanor and posture were becoming more and more like Xu Xiuxiu's, "Just before dinner, I was chatting with Yuanyao, and I found out she actually has quite a few ideas of her own." Xu Jingjing said this while giving Song Yuan Yao an encouraging look.
