I Became the Mother of His Child

Chapter 195: Silence Followed by Madness

Song Wenshu seemed to have long grown accustomed to Xu Jingjing's icy demeanor. Knowing he had won her over by unscrupulous means, his own sense of guilt and culpability made him particularly patient. He didn't mind Jingjing's attitude in the least.

"I heard your third sister gave birth to a pair of boy and girl twins by the end of the year. I must say, you sisters seem to be quite lucky! Elder sister, second sister, and third sister all had sons on their first attempt at childbirth, didn't they? You have no idea how many bachelors around here had their eyes set on you, a big piece of 'fertile land'! Luckily, I was clever enough to make my move quickly, and I owe it to elder sister for helping to set things up. Once we are married, I will definitely have a few drinks with elder sister and my elder brother-in-law." Song Wenshu said, his tone dripping with smugness. "But Jingjing, the child you're carrying is really a boy, isn't it? You wouldn't disappoint me, would you?" Song Wenshu looked hopefully at Xu Jingjing's belly.

A son! A bride! After pining for most of his life, he finally had his hopes realized all at once. He really was the bloody best.

"Uh-huh." Xu Jingjing continued to be silent, providing hardly any reaction to Song Wenshu.

"Really! You're truly amazing. If you give birth to a boy, you'll be the Song family's greatest hero. My mom at home is longing for the day you join the family! You must take really good care of my son—no accidents must happen. Here, take care with this stone, and watch your step so you don't trip or stumble." Song Wenshu warmly advised her, immediately alerting Jingjing to a protruding stone on the path.

Xu Jingjing cast her eyes down to avoid the crossroads on the dirt road, her demeanor remaining ice-cold. Yet occasionally, when her gaze swept over Song Wenshu, a hint of resentment infused that coldness—a desire for revenge so deep it threatened to bring ruination and destruction.

Xu Jingjing and Song Wenshu set out at eight in the morning and arrived at the county by ten. Under the warm reception of the photo studio director, Song Wenshu, grinning from ear to ear, grabbed a brown suit and a pair of leather shoes and rushed into the dressing room to change.

Xu Jingjing sat in a chair outside, her eyes downcast, lightly fiddling with a pair of black scissors. Her right index finger gently touched the sharp edge of the scissors, trembling for a moment before she tucked the scissors into the sleeve of her cotton-padded jacket.

"Jingjing, why haven't you changed clothes? Never mind, come and take a look at me first. Do I look handsome in a suit and tie?" Song Wenshu, who had just stepped out of the dressing room, saw Xu Jingjing sitting in the chair and asked with curiosity, then couldn't help showing off by turning around in front of the full-length mirror, fixing his tie, and smirking at Jingjing's reflection.

"It's unbelievable how beneath your presentable exterior lies such trash." Xu Jingjing stood up and slowly walked behind Song Wenshu, her gaze coldly fixed on him, her eyes dark as night.

"Jingjing? What did you say?" Song Wenshu exclaimed in surprise, turning around only to feel a sharp object violently stab him in the lower back.

"Xu Jingjing, are you trying to kill me?" Song Wenshu felt the blood seeping out from his lower back. He lightly touched it with his hand, then looked at it in disbelief: "Blood?" Song Wenshu whispered, as if unable to believe it.

"You beast, still deluding yourself into marrying me. Do you have any idea how your name makes me want to vomit in the middle of the night?" Xu Jingjing stared maniacally at Song Wenshu, her gaze meeting his in the mirror. "You must not know that what I long for, day and night, is to stab you with scissors, cut you into pieces, and throw you into the river to feed the fish!" Xu Jingjing spoke softly, her bloodthirsty eyes fixated on Song Wenshu in front of the full-length mirror, and then she slowly curved her lips into a crazy smile.

Drip, drip, drip...

The bright red blood gushed onto the floor.

"Xu Jingjing, listen to me... Ah!" Song Wenshu tried to reason with Xu Jingjing, but he didn't realize Xu Jingjing's hand, trembling and excited as it grasped the scissors, yanked them out of his lower back and then viciously stabbed him again as he began to speak.

"Bitch!" Pain snapped Song Wenshu back to reality. Just as Xu Jingjing pulled out the scissors again, he turned and furiously slapped her across the face. The genteel facade he usually wore fell away in an instant, revealing his true nature. Xu Jingjing felt as if she were back on that day, helpless under Song Wenshu as he assaulted her on the haystack. Shaking and momentarily disoriented, she heard him hiss, "Bitch, you actually tried to kill me. I'll strangle you, you whore." Song Wenshu's hand tightened viciously around Xu Jingjing's neck.

Xu Jingjing was just a girl, and despite Song Wenshu's scholarly appearance, the difference in strength between men and women was substantial. Xu Jingjing couldn't move as he choked her, and the two fierce stabs of her scissors seemed to do nothing to weaken him. She struggled to aim the scissors at Song Wenshu's chest, but just before she could make contact, he caught the sharp end of the scissors with a cruel grip.

"Bitch, you're going to die," Song Wenshu roared madly, kicking out at Xu Jingjing.

With a thud, Xu Jingjing's abdomen took the blow, and she was flung violently to the ground.

When Xu Xiuxiu and Song Yuanhuan arrived at the photography studio, they learned from the owner that Xu Jingjing and Song Wenshu were changing their clothes. As they went upstairs and pushed open the door, they were met with the sight of Xu Jingjing on the ground, gasping for life, while Song Wenshu gripped the scissors, his left hand covering his lower back, his brown suit soaked with a spreading stain of blood. A large pool of blood was also evident on the floor where he stood.

Bang! Song Yuanhuan was the first to react. Without thinking, he rushed forward and brutally kicked Song Wenshu to the ground.

Song Yuanhuan was a special forces soldier. Trained in combat, subduing Song Wenshu was as easy for him as crushing an ant under his foot. Song Wenshu struggled and tried to protest, but Song Yuanhuan's foot kept him pinned mercilessly to the floor.

Xu Xiuxiu saw Song Yuanhuan, who had been carefully helping her up the stairs, dash out in a flash. Left behind, she stared at the horrific scene in the dressing room. In a single heartbeat, she instinctively slammed the dressing room door shut, not only preventing the studio staff from entering but also successfully turning the lock.

"Jingjing? How are you?" Xu Xiuxiu hurried over to Xu Jingjing and helped her up, only to see her pale cheeks and the slow, steady oozing of blood from the visible wounds.

"The baby?" Xu Jingjing inhaled sharply, her expression flashing with panic, but just moments later, she smiled in resignation, "Better to lose it. Otherwise, I'd have to waste time getting an abortion." Speaking with a hint of relief, she then glared murderously at Song Wenshu, "Song Wenshu, you can go to hell along with the child in my belly!" Baring her teeth, Xu Jingjing gripped Xu Xiuxiu's hand, planning to endure the pain in her belly to get up and finish off Song Wenshu.
