I Became the Mother of His Child

Chapter 114: Solicitous Assistance

"Not at all!" Xu Xiuxiu snapped back at him in frustration.

"What is it, then?" Song Yuanhuan asked with a puzzled headache.

The persistent questioning from Song Yuanhuan made Xu Xiuxiu's face turn red with anger—this man, who usually didn't pay much attention to minor details, was now relentless in getting to the bottom of a single wrong expression on her face. Didn't he understand how embarrassing this was for her?

"My chest hurts!" Xu Xiuxiu, after struggling in vain, finally closed her eyes and let out a low growl, resigning herself to her fate. Her cheeks burned so hot they could have cooked an egg.

Chest pain? Song Yuanhuan was taken aback, clearly not expecting this response from Xu Xiuxiu. He thought it might have been some trouble from her family's side while he was away in the county withdrawing money that had distressed Xu Xiuxiu. It hadn't occurred to him that it was merely chest pain—could it be engorgement from breastfeeding? Now he understood why she looked so relieved yet conflicted after knowing that Little Moon and Little Baby had eaten their fill. Song Yuanhuan suddenly grasped Xu Xiuxiu's distress.

Help! Song Yuanhuan actually said he wanted to help her, but how? Was he seriously considering eating the children's meal instead? Xu Xiuxiu looked speechlessly at Song Yuanhuan for a moment before realizing he really did have intentions of alleviating her chest pain. She reached out in a panic, grabbing his nimble hand to stop his helpful intentions, "Go away! I don't need your help." Xu Xiuxiu growled irritably, the heat on her cheeks flaring up even more, especially after hearing that Song Yuanhuan wanted to help, an image rushed into her mind, leaving her stunned by her own imagination.

"You're having chest pain, aren't you?" Song Yuanhuan felt he was being kind, thus giving her a look of innocent misunderstanding, somewhat displeased with Xu Xiuxiu's struggle and protest. Why was this woman suddenly so shy about something so natural after having a child?

"So what?" Xu Xiuxiu glared at him, gasping with irritation.

"Eating the food meant for your son and daughter, Song Yuanhuan, have you no shame?" Xu Xiuxiu pointed a finger accusingly at Song Yuanhuan's chest, too ashamed to make eye contact with him, "Just go away! I'm sleepy and want to rest; keep your distance from me!" Xu Xiuxiu averted her eyes, desperately trying to maintain some distance from Song Yuanhuan.

"Song Yuanhuan." Xu Xiuxiu softly called out Song Yuanhuan's name.

That's it, she had seen enough! She was about to go mad!

It all happened so fast, she was caught completely off guard! Ah! Ah! Ah! Who will rescue her from this feeling of embarrassment?

"Song Yuanhuan." Xu Xiuxiu regained her composure after a while, barely holding back her embarrassment as she angrily growled, trying to grab Song Yuanhuan's hair. But touching his neatly trimmed buzz-cut and finding nothing to grasp, she turned direction and firmly grabbed his ear instead.

"Dad, Mom..." Suddenly, Song Chengguang's voice arose at the doorway.

Xu Xiuxiu looked up in shock and embarrassment towards the doorway, her eyes meeting Song Chengguang's curious and puzzled gaze. Hearing her eldest son's voice, her heart sank beyond measure.

Truly, these mischievous children—look at that! A son really is born only to cross his father; this scenario was just too infuriating to endure.
