I Became the Last Princess of the Brown Bear Kingdom

Chapter 361

Anyway, if that happens, it won’t even be possible to question the legitimacy of the Kanto Republic within Eastern Japan.

While everyone is too busy fighting each other, really? That’s how it goes.

“Then, could you please pay more attention to us as well?”

“What do you mean?”

What do you mean, what do I mean? You’re not actually trying to wash your hands of this now, are you?

“I’m talking about Serbia. It’d be better for both of us if you step back from that issue, right?”

Like we’re going to kill Serbia or something.

If you could step back on that point, I’d really appreciate it.

“Is Serbia some kind of ice cream freshly made by the Romanovs? I’ve been in the military, so I should at least know something.”

I really don’t know anything about the country called Serbia.

“Ah, the president seems to have an understanding with me.”

“Hahahahaha! Isn’t he the leader of a country that divides the world in this era?”

It doesn’t exactly feel like the world is being divided, but whatever.

So, what’s the deal with South America for this guy?

“So that’s how it is. Then, what are your plans for South America?”

MacArthur must really see South America as a thorn in his side right now.

Africa has basically become a total third world by now.

And when it comes to the Middle East and the Far East, it’s practically the same as our multiverse. From MacArthur’s perspective, South America must be quite bothersome.

A huge chunk of land being troublesome.

Lost in enjoying a variety of things from Eastern Japan, plans for dealing with South America consisted entirely of guaranteeing Venezuela’s independence and blocking South America’s maritime rights.

Of course, MacArthur has beaten the Japs of Eastern Japan a ton. Thanks to his instigation of the people, the matters involving South America got buried.

Originally, South America wasn’t even in a state of war, and for Americans, the feeling was more like, why bother attacking those guys? After all, South America hasn’t directly attacked the US either.

Weapons support for Brazil was all that was involved.

“South America won’t be touched for the time being. But if they know their place and bow down, what can we do?”

Right. South America has just filled the South American Union and left.

Of course, to form a true South American Union, they’d have to take down Venezuela too. But the U.S. would never allow that.

There happens to be a U.S. military base over there in Venezuela.

“Surprisingly, you’re just letting it go?”

“If a woman named Eva Perón comes to provoke us, I’ll be prepared to hit back. Even so, we can’t be acting like a colonial empire in this era.”

In fact, the U.S. probably doesn’t even have the means to do that.

If they push Black people into Eastern Japan, that’s the end.

“If South America bands together, they’ll be quite powerful.”

“Yes, they probably will. But we have no intention of letting South America become one of the world’s powers.”

One of the requirements to become a great power is access to the sea.

Resources and large land are nice to have, but it’s really about access to the sea that’s a huge factor.

The U.S. will probably allow the current state of South America but will block them from reaching the sea.

If they start building a fleet, that’ll be used as a justification to hit them.

“If they enter the sea, we will not shy away from war. You mean in that sense, right?”

“If they don’t listen, we have to respond firmly.”

“Is Eva Perón a target of concern for the U.S.?”

If she is, then I must have done one hell of a job.

Anyway, as much as the U.S. is keeping South America in check, they have no choice but to spend more on defense.

“I’m really disappointed about that. That damn woman is launching rockets just like us.”

“Why’s that?”

Is there really a reason to be disappointed? Thanks to me, they’re working hard on rocket development.

It’s just a miserable situation compared to the original history.

“Because of that, we’ve had no choice but to use the budget on rocket development.”

Why is that my fault? It’s not like they had to follow me.

Of course, I planned to force them to follow along anyway, but still.

It’s the U.S. that started competing with us in space. I didn’t exactly say, “Please compete with us!”

It’s pure injustice.

“Ah, I see your point.”

“Isn’t it about time you stopped being reasonable?”

Stop being reasonable? How can I do that?

When such enormous money is available and power exists, we have to focus on developing science and technology.

I guess the Cold War of this era will become a new race in science and space.

In that far future, the 21st century might well advance beyond the original world.

I’ve written in diverse ways in the strategies for the world’s future chapter.

“Well, it can’t be helped. Our descendants will have to live in a much broader world in the distant future.”

“Hoo, you can’t be stopped, can you?”

I often hear that.

MacArthur is probably the same. It’s practically dictatorial at this point.

As he imbues the spirit of Eastern Japan, he fights tirelessly.

He would almost certainly ignore Congress and sacrifice Eastern Japan for his popularity.

“Anyway, I look forward to working together in the future.”

MacArthur and I clasped hands.

I can’t even understand what I’m doing because of Göring.

If it’s about Serbia, just get it done! Snap, snap, snap!

“Ah, since I’m here, there’s something I want to eat.”

“What is it?”

“I hear RFC’s chicken is incredibly delicious.”

MacArthur looked around with interest, like he found it intriguing.

MacArthur must have caught a whiff of chicken. Well, that’s understandable.

“Oh, you mean chicken? Yes. That’s no problem at all.”

What’s so hard about that? I heard they even have seasoned chicken now?

Before we leave, let’s get MacArthur’s belly nice and greasy.

* * *

The United States

Anastasia’s proposal was promptly declared by the MacArthur government.

Reconstruction and immigration industry in Eastern Japan. The East Japan Dream!

It was particularly aimed at Black people, but still aimed to not discriminate too heavily against all U.S. citizens.

Of course, Blacks received even more benefits.

White people who move to Eastern Japan would only receive moderate subsidies and must use their own money to contribute to reconstruction in Eastern Japan. But for Blacks, that’s not the case at all.

Blacks get unconditional settlement support!

Not only from the U.S. mainland but also under the support of the Kanto Republic government, they will gain Kanto nationality!

Only for Blacks! White people get little to no benefits!

The MacArthur government of the United States grants such big advantages to the Blacks who even raised a rebellion! They show mercy!

Of course, from the perspective of the Blacks, it sounded like utter nonsense.

“You want us to head to Eastern Japan?”

“We’ve lived quietly! What’s the problem?”

They’re basically trying to chase out the Blacks.

No matter how young you may be, a three-year-old child couldn’t possibly be unaware of this situation.

As for the migration of Asians to the United States, they are being actively accepted.

“Now that you’ve joined KFC, you can only be seen as a communist~ If you settle in Eastern Japan, we’ll spare no support for you.”

Initially, there were some who opposed the government, but as several Blacks bought into the MacArthur line, the justification for America to push back vanished.

“Oh, finally those guys will disappear.”

“If they’re red, they should just be red, why mix in black with red, ugh.”

“MacArthur’s different from Huey Long, that honorary Red!”

“What a relief!”

In fact, it’s not just that Blacks had a problem, but the U.S. Whites were heavily affected by the KFC incident.

Blacks are communists.

Unbeknownst to them, such an official belief sank deeply into the hearts of Americans.

And upon hearing that those people were heading to Japan, most felt joy, with even companies saying they would aid alongside the government.

“That’s filthy and disgusting, but go ahead!”

Many Blacks suspected of involvement in KFC were also caught up in this.

“What’s up with that dark guy?”

“This is land of the Japanese!”

“Not much, just brought some money and food.”

“Kanto people welcome you!”

There was no business that could step back when faced with money.

The Black money brought by the Blacks left the Kanto Japanese dumbfounded.

Now, the Kanto Republic was flat broke. Even if they managed to hold onto Tokyo, the rest of the regions had turned to ruins.

The sweet Black money that came during this time was a work of art.

Most importantly, RFC, in this gap, declared they would support the immigration and reconstruction of Eastern Japan, even opening franchises to generously treat the Eastern Japanese and Blacks with chicken.

Eastern Japan was sweetly being reconstructed with the Black money from the Blacks.

Japanese-style wooden buildings were all torn down, replaced with American-style wooden structures and similar buildings.

“Now even Blacks are entering this country, huh?”

“Mr. Tokuda. Please get to work quickly.”

“Oh, understood.”

Once the secretary-general of the Japanese Communist Party and the leader of the Japanese Soviet, Tokuda Kyuichi ended up spending his life working under a Black landowner.

Meanwhile, the Serbian Chetniks were slowly becoming desperate.

The truth is, they hadn’t been a match for the Pro-Danube Militia directly supported by the Danube.

Moreover, it was uncertain how the Danube Defense Army, which had merely been watching, would act. It was time to wrap things up.

Regardless of the outcome of this fight, the Chetniks could no longer achieve Serbian independence again.

Winning would simply lead to them demanding independence from the Danube Federation, and if the opposition mobilized troops with a scoff, that would be the end.

“Hoo. Isn’t this really the end now?”

“Honestly, surrendering entirely might be an option. Isn’t it better to work from within for autonomy instead?”

Autonomy movement.

Aren’t those basically words saying to give up everything?

To throw everything away and just return to obeying, isn’t that what this means?

In fact, Mihailović was growing tired of it too.

This fight showed no signs of ending. Serbians are neither immortal nor demons; how long can they keep fighting till the end?

The Chetniks were now fewer than a thousand in number.

Though many from the militia had been killed, the tragedy of fratricide meant they needed to consider surrendering either way.

“Are we really going to just give it all up like this?”

“What do you think is the reason the Rome Treaty is leaving us be?”

“Well, it’s likely because those guys don’t have the resources either. Isn’t that right?”

All too naturally. Like it was as naive as drinking kimchi soup.

The Rome Treaty, the Danube Federation is currently unifying under the Rome Treaty and has no ability to pay attention to this situation.

That was simply the conclusion made.

Their hope circuit made sense too. The Rome Treaty is currently acting quite lowly before their competitor, the United States.

It seems this time around, the U.S. has jumped to Serbia.

“So when they value us highly, at the very least, they offer autonomy without internal interference as a condition.”

At the very least, autonomy without internal interference.

Oh, that’s not bad at all. I’d say it’s almost perfect.

“Oh, that actually sounds reasonable.”

The Chetnik command immediately visited the Danube Defense Army headquarters stationed near Belgrade.

“We wish to negotiate.”

Negotiation? Sure, that’s good. The Danube Federation’s defense forces decided to show compassion since the Chetniks were lowering themselves as such.

“Oh, hearing about a negotiation is pleasant. Capture them all!”

Right. Let’s capture them all.

“What the hell is this? We came here to negotiate!”

“Negotiate? You lost, so you should kneel down yourself!”

Negotiation? What a cold-blooded negotiation.

Did you actually think this was a situation where negotiation was possible? These foolish Serbs are calling it negotiation while they ought to just be groveling in defeat.

“We didn’t even fight the Danube. What are you talking about?”

“Do you think we watched you for no reason?”

To be vocal about it, from the Danube Defense Army’s perspective, they have always regarded the Chetniks as forces to engage, waiting for a chance to take them in.

They had simply pushed the Pro-Danube Militia under their command.

Yeah. It’s simply like the classic “First strike strategy” used in the East.

In such a context where they should be coming unarmed calling it “negotiation,” how ridiculous does that seem?

“You sneaky Austrians!”

“What the hell?”

The Chetniks’ dirty tricks were of no use.

Thus, the battle between Serbian Pro-Danube Militias and Serbian Chetniks centered around Belgrade ended with the militia’s victory.

However, in the process, many Serbians died or fled, and the remaining Serbians in the Serbian Autonomy found it increasingly difficult to maintain their autonomy.

Afterward, the Danube Federation completely incorporated the Serbian Autonomy into its territory.

The Serbian Autonomy was completely crushed.

The Serbians living in the autonomy were caught up in the battles between the militia and Chetniks, either dying or fleeing, to the extent that they were barely a shameful number to still call it an autonomy.

The Danube Federation fully integrated the territory. After all, this was Göring’s and Hitler’s plan.

Let them kill each other, moderately without the Danube Federation’s intervention.

That way, they can feel nothing but hatred for each other and can’t pay attention to external forces.

In fact, Serbia was divided in half. Disliking each other caused many Serbians to flee.

Isn’t this the perfect ending suited for a wicked nation?

“Looks like a ton of Serbs died.”

“Not our problem.”

“What were those guys doing while we were spilling blood with the Reds?”

“Right? Serves them right.”

Serbia fell into a dark evolution as Yugoslavia after the First World War.

Of course, the Russian Empire, which had helped them, didn’t care at all.

Instead, the German Empire, their enemy, generously gave them aid.

How despicable are those guys?

We, the Russian Republic, genuinely find the Serbians disgusting.

And that’s a fitting conclusion for them.
