I Became an Unofficial Healer

Chapter 6 - Miriana

“Come in.”

After healing her wounds,

I followed the woman to what I assumed was her home.

“Oh.”

And that home was quite clean and looked expensive.

There were fancy decorations everywhere, and many of the furnishings were clearly more about showing off than practicality.

“What’s this? If you had such a nice house, why were you rolling around in that alley?”

“…What good is a nice house? I was rotting and festering day by day. I couldn’t bear that the beautiful house remained the same while I, its owner, was becoming hideous.”

“I see?”

“Sit down for now, I’ll make some tea.”

I sat on the sofa in the center of the house and waited. After a while, the woman brought a tea set and poured what looked like black tea into the cups.

The woman took a sip from her own cup, glanced at me, and asked.

“Aren’t you drinking?”

“When it cools down a bit. By the way, what’s your name?”

“Miriana. I see you’re not calling me ‘lady’ anymore?”

“Honestly, looking at that face and calling you ‘lady’ would make me feel guilty.”

I could tell that Miriana, now healed of her wounds, was a beauty who could probably earn a tremendous amount of money on looks alone.

Wavy blonde hair that flowed down to her back and blue eyes.

Her slender face that could enchant the opposite sex with its beauty and her slightly sharp eyes had enough charm to bewitch men.

And her body was voluptuous and good too.

“You’re good with words. So… what’s the name of the person who saved me?”

“What? You don’t know my name? Even though you know the term ‘quack healer’?”

“That nickname is so famous that your real name isn’t circulating.”

So these adventurer bastards never mentioned my name while they were sleeping with women?

Damn them.

“Lee Jin-sang. Lee is my family name, and Jin-sang is my given name.”

“Hmm, an unusual name. Well, fine. Anyway, thanks for healing me. I’d only heard rumors about you being a quack healer…”

“I may be unlicensed, but I’m not a quack, you know? This is why false rumors are scary.”

“With such good skills, why don’t you have a license?”

“I’m confident in my healing magic, but the test is insanely difficult.”

“Aha, I get it. You’re a genius who relies on instinct?”

Actually, I received power from an unknown entity before coming to this world.
But being called a genius feels good.

“Well, you could say that.”

I smiled and took a sip of the black tea Miriana had poured.

“Ugh.”

Bitter.

“Pfft, what? Can’t you even drink black tea?”

“It’s bitter.”

“You have the taste of a child. Not appreciating this fragrant flavor. Well, I guess you wouldn’t have money to try black tea.”

Do people in this world have passive-aggressive as a passive skill?

“But why did you invite me here?”

“Well, you saved me when I was about to die, so I should repay you, right? I can’t live with a debt.”

Glare!

“So I’ll definitely take revenge later too.”

Ooh, she turned vicious again, scary.

Miriana relaxed her expression again and smiled gently as she asked me.

“I wonder what Jin-sang wants from me~? You must have had a reason for saving me, right?”

Miriana crossed her legs and gently stroked her cleavage as she spoke.

“Jin-sang is my lifesaver, so if you want, I can accommodate you for free as many times as you.wa.nt.”

“Ah, I’ll pass on that. I want my first time to be with a virgin girlfriend.”

When I politely declined with an outstretched hand, Miriana clicked her tongue.

“Tsk, so you’re a virgin otaku.”

Hey, no harsh truths.

Miriana leaned back on the sofa, resting her arm on the armrest, and gave me a questioning look.

“Then what’s your purpose? Why did you help me?”

“Well, I helped because I happened to find you while looking around the nightlife district.”

“Happened to?”

“Not on purpose?”

“It was a coincidence. Besides… it was obvious that at that time, Miriana…”

“Call me noona. Not lady, but noo.na.”

She’s really hung up on being called “lady.”

“Miriana noona seemed like she would accept my magic. You were desperate, right?”

“Well… that’s true. But why the sudden formal speech? You were speaking informally when treating me.”

“I used formal speech when I first talked to you too, you know? I became rude because Miriana noona was so irritating.”

“You really hate being called a quack healer, huh?”

“Try hearing it every time you promote yourself, it’s sickening.”

I continued speaking while taking small sips of the bitter tea she had poured.

“Well, as we talked, I also thought saving Miriana noona would help my goal quite a bit.”

“Goal?”

“Raising my reputation. And creating opportunities to get more clients.”

I glanced around the house and smiled.

“You said you hired clerics and healing mages for treatment, right? You can’t do that without a lot of money.”

“Let me tell you in advance. I spent most of my money then, so I can’t give you a large sum right away.”

“I said it’s free for first-timers. I don’t need it. More importantly, does Miriana noona know a lot of people?”

“Of course I do. Though they’re people I don’t want to associate with anymore.”

“Why’s that?”

“Do you need to ask? Because they all left after I became like that. I’ll teach every single one of them a lesson…”

Oh dear.

“Then I can’t ask for promotion through your acquaintances.”

“You need promotion? With those skills?”

“Don’t you know the rumors that I’m a quack healer despite my skills, all because I don’t have a license?”

Ugh, this tea is really bitter.

“Forget about promotion, just come with me to the adventurer’s guild later and tell them you were perfectly healed thanks to me. You can do that much, right?”

“Well, that’s simple enough. Ah, I hate to say this, but… it probably won’t help much?”

“Huh? Why not?”

“As you said, without a license, there’s really no trust. Even if I was called the Queen of the Night until two months ago… people will think it was just a lucky coincidence rather than you healing me. Some won’t believe it at all. Plus, adventurers are engaged in one of the most life-threatening jobs. They’ll be extremely cautious about treatments where their lives are at stake.”

“Hmm…”

Then what should I do?

While I was pondering, Miriana noona clapped her hands and said.

“Ah, but I can help in another way.”

“What is it?”

“It might take some time… but I’m going to dominate this nightlife district again. When that happens, my words will have a strong influence.”

“And?”

“So if any of my girls get hurt, I’ll tell them to get treatment from you. As the number of people getting treated increases and the number of successful treatments grows, your achievements and trust will naturally build up.”

Oh, that sounds good.

“I should pray for your successful revenge. Is there anything I can help with?”

“It’s fine. I can do that much on my own… and this is something only I should do. Hoo, hoho, hohoho.”

Despite her soft smile, there was an incredibly murderous feeling.

“I understand. Then I’ll be going now.”

There’s nothing more to gain by staying here anyway.

As I was about to get up, Miriana grabbed my sleeve.

“Wait a moment. I haven’t properly rewarded you yet.”

“What? You said you’d send patients later.”

“That’s for later, but right now I haven’t done anything for you, have I? I can’t stand that. Since Jin-sang is a virgin otaku, I can’t repay you with my specialty.”

“Could you stop calling me a virgin otaku?”

“But it’s true?”

“My heart as your lifesaver is hurting.”

“Pfft, alright. I shouldn’t hurt my lifesaver’s heart. Sit down again. I have something to give you.”

“I’ll pass on alcohol too…”

“I don’t think someone with a childish palate who can’t even drink bitter tea would like alcohol. It’s something much~ better, so don’t worry.”

What on earth does she want to give me?

Sitting back on the sofa, I asked Miriana.

“Miriana noona, who can’t give me her body, doesn’t have money, and can’t promote me, what exactly are you going to give me?”

In response to my question, Miriana noona put her legs up on the sofa, leaned against the armrest in a seductive pose, and tapped her lips with her index finger as she said.

“In.for.ma.tion.”

“Information?”

“I told you. I was… a woman called the Queen of the Night until just two months ago. Don’t you know what that means?”

“Um… someone good at seducing men?”

“That’s right too. But that’s not all. Information that high-class people let slip in bed, or information that other prostitutes picked up. The current state of the kingdom, which adventurer secretly caused what accident, who was actually the noble’s affair partner when surrounded by suspicion. All of it came to my ears.”

“Ohhh.”

“That is to say, among the information Jin-sang is curious about, I might know some of it. In fact, as the Queen of the Night, I was also paid to pass on information.”

“So you’re saying you’re a very good informant?”

“Hoho, exactly that. Since Jin-sang is my lifesaver, if there’s any information you want, I’ll tell you anything for free. How about it? Isn’t that nice?”

“Not bad.”

“What? Your reaction is so lukewarm? You could be more surprised like ‘Wow!’, you know?”

“I don’t know yet if you have the information I want. I can’t get excited prematurely.”

I can’t get my hopes up only to be disappointed, right?

“Miriana noona.”

“Yes, Jin-sang. What do you want to hear? Perhaps about my…”

“…Why don’t you wash up first? My questions might take a while, and it would be uncomfortable to stay like that, right?”

I can do healing magic, but not cleaning magic.

Although her skin had improved and her hair regained its shine, Miriana noona was still in a messy state with dust and stains all over.

“…I’m not sure if you’re being considerate or just tactless.”

“I’m being gentlemanly.”

I’m saying this for her own sake.
