I Became a Mythical Knight King

Chapter 50: Lords Meeting (6)

“Kiiiaaaaaaaaa!”

As the group charged after the destruction of the Omphalos barrier, some of the Banshees that had been gathering around the altar turned toward the group.

“They’re coming!”

“Uooooooo!”

As Kate shouted, Hector charged forward and activated his chivalry, the Giant of Camelot.

In an instant, Hector grew gigantic and ran with a stride so massive that it matched the speed of a warhorse, almost like a rampaging chariot.

“Ahahahaha!”

Hector, who laughed heartily as if he had been frustrated, staying on the barrier, swung his large axe horizontally.

The length of the axe’s handle, which had grown along with Hector, reached a staggering 7 meters, and with one swing, more than ten of the advancing Banshees were instantly wiped out.

“Cut them down! Diana! Take the Saint to the sky!”

At Yoo Seong’s command while sending out sword energy, Diana immediately took to the sky.

“To the outer perimeter!”

Instead of a direct assault on the altar, Yoo Seong commanded them to circle around, removing the pursuing Banshees while directing his gaze upward.

Banshees riding Ghost Horses flew toward Diana, but Vanadain wouldn’t allow this.

In an instant, arrows shot from his bow pierced through the heads of the Banshees riding the Ghost Horses, and Diana, not just watching, thrust her spear and took down the approaching Banshees.

“Kiiiaaaaaaa!”

At that moment, the Banshee Queen on the altar let out a deafening scream, unable to hold back any longer.

It was a scream filled with magical energy, so eerie and threatening that even those who had no knowledge of magic could feel its intensity.

If left unprotected, even seasoned knights would likely be gravely wounded.

If one were unprotected, that is.

“For the glory of Camelot!”

Kate shouted in response and planted the flag into the ground.

At that moment, a golden aura spread in front of the group, blocking the Banshee Queen’s scream.

“Truly impressive!”

Hector, seeing that the Banshee Queen’s scream, which could destroy both mind and body, was instantly blocked, chuckled in admiration, but Kate did not smile. Instead, she furrowed her brow and wore a subtle expression, while Rene immediately cast her magic.

“Fire Wall!”

Rene’s specialty was elemental magic.

Among them, fire and ice were her primary focus.

A large wall of fire erupted, blocking the Banshee Queen’s scream as the Banshees rushing toward them like a tidal wave were forced to stop.

Then Yoo Seong looked up to the sky.

Diana, who had shaken off all the Ghost Horses, was now flying toward the area directly above the altar.

“Just as expected! It looks like Sister Jillian has blocked the scream as well!”

Rene cheered, and Jillian, having reached an appropriate altitude, removed her hands from Diana’s waist and brought both hands together to begin praying.

In truth, Jillian was still inexperienced as a Saintess.

Though she had received Omphalos’ blessing, causing her holy power to surge, she was still unskilled in managing it.

Jillian had hardly ever used holy power before, and now she suddenly had an overwhelming amount of it, so it was a miracle in itself that she could control it well.

That said, Jillian could still pray and use a limited number of prayers per day, but her abilities were still restricted.

However that didn’t mean she was useless.

The value of any power depends on how it is used, even if it is limited.

“Omphalos of the Iron Wall, descend the wall of protection to shield us. Protect us from the heretics and the wicked.”

Omphalos’ barrier.

This was the prayer used to create the fortifications they had maintained earlier, and Jillian could create ten of these barriers each day.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

With a loud noise, the holy barriers erupted from the ground.

There were four of them.

Seeing the giant barriers rising around the altar, Rene leaped up and cheered.

“We did it!”

However, Yoo Seong did not cheer along with Rene.

Jillian’s plan wasn’t just to block the altar with barriers; that was only the first part of it.

The success of the plan hinged on what came next.

“Kiiiaaaaaa!”

As the Banshee Queen trapped in the barrier screamed toward the sky, Jillian again activated her holy power, her hands tightly clasped together in prayer.

“Protect us!”

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

A tremendous noise rang out, but no new walls appeared.

However, this was expected since Jillian hadn’t created new barriers.

What she had asked Omphalos for in her prayer was something entirely different.

The barriers surrounding the altar began to move.

More precisely, the walls blocking the front and rear remained stationary, but the walls on the left and right began to move toward each other.

“Kii… Kii?! Kiiiaaaaaaaaa!”

The sudden movement of the walls left the Banshee Queen in a panic, and she screamed a different kind of scream, unlike before.

The Banshees outside the barrier also fell into a panic and didn’t know what to do.

“Wow, it really works.”

Rene muttered without realizing it, and Kate reflexively nodded in agreement.

Not just the two of them, but Yoo Seong and the other knights had a strange expression, mixed with astonishment and satisfaction, unable to help but be amazed.

It seemed like it might be possible, but seeing it in action, it was still unbelievable.

“Kiiiaaaaaa!”

Boom!

The walls did not collide in the end.

The barriers, which had been advancing as though to crush the altar, shattered into pieces and collapsed.

“Ugh.”

Jillian, who seemed to have been staggered by the impact of the collapsing barriers, regained her balance after a brief moment.

Opening her eyes and confirming the ground, she clenched her fist and smiled, and Diana also smiled, albeit slightly.

“Kii…a…”

While the barriers had collapsed, the altar was not left unscathed.

The Banshee Queen had absorbed the power of the Banshees, using it to forcibly destroy the holy barrier, and even the altar was ultimately destroyed.

What remained were the shattered altar, the Banshee Queen, who was battered but not yet dead, and only a few dozen Banshees.

“Thank you, Omphalos. I’m so happy. Truly, thank you. Thank you so much.”

Jillian quickly clasped her hands together again and offered a prayer of thanks.

Though Omphalos’ barrier was meant for defense, not offense, it had still been used to help defeat the wicked, and Jillian was confident that Omphalos would be pleased.

“Well, shall we go now?”

To finish things off before the Banshee Queen could recover.

At Yoo Seong’s words, everyone grabbed their reins, and Hector began charging forward.

“Ahahaha! The match-up was just too bad for them!”

Indeed, from the Banshees’ perspective, the match-up could not have been worse.

They were undead, and not just any undead, but ghosts, facing the Holy King and the Saintess.

“Kii…Kiiiaaa!”

The Banshee Queen let out a scream of unjustness, but it was nothing more than a final, desperate cry.

The remaining Banshees, only a handful left, were swept away like falling leaves by Hector’s axe, and the Banshee Queen’s final scream was again blocked by Kate’s chivalry.

“Goodbye.”

Yoo Seong poured all his remaining magic power into his sword.

The Banshee Queen, struck by the circular sword energy reminiscent of the golden sun, vanished without even a scream.

Seeing the series of status window notifications, Yoo Seong nodded.

‘Jillian had a high contribution in this battle.’

Also, considering she had the lowest level, it made sense she leveled up multiple times in one go.

‘By the way, the stable.’

The stable is a facility essential for creating a heavy cavalry unit.

Although upgrades to the forge and metal refinery were still needed to meet the conditions, the important thing was that all the necessary facilities were now in place.

‘Heavy cavalry.’

Although they had been using Diana’s Pegasus Riders for lance charges, the true dream of a lance charge lay in heavy cavalry.

Moreover, Diana’s cavalry unit had now become a Sky Cavalry composed entirely of Pegasus Riders, so the synergy with heavy cavalry was much better.

From the enemies’ perspective, it would be a nightmare to have the heavy cavalry unit charging straight ahead like a tank, and in the rear – no, charging down from the sky, the Sky Cavalry.

‘And there will be a hero for heavy cavalry too.’

What kind of hero would emerge this time?

What kind of skills would they have?

‘The tavern will be popular with the soldiers.’

The army was, after all, made up of living people, not robot soldiers. So they needed ways to relieve stress.

Until now, there hadn’t been any decent recreational facilities, so Yoo Seong had been worried and felt sorry for the soldiers, but now, the perfect facility had appeared.

‘Rene will like it too.’

Because the enjoyment factor would increase.

Yoo Seong imagined the scene of soldiers joyfully getting drunk with their three-inch-tall bodies, while the knights, including Kate, looked on.

He smiled unconsciously, then refocused on reality.

Kate and Rene were beaming with smiles, showering praises, and Jillian, having landed with Diana, was pretending to be modest, clearly delighted.

“Saint, that was truly amazing. I’m sincerely in awe.”

“No, no. The knights and the successor did far more than I did.”

“Ah, what are you saying? From start to finish, you were the one who truly shone in this battle.”

Rene patted her on the shoulder as if to tell her not to be modest.

Jillian smiled broadly, saying, “Ah, no, really, not at all…” and Hector, who was turned away, desperately suppressed his laughter.

‘Hector has become human.’

If he laughed out loud, it would surely embarrass Jillian, who was sensitive to such things.

“You all did well. It’s a relief we were able to win fairly easily this time.”

Comparing it to the first exploration, this battle felt easy from start to finish.

Yoo Seong spoke, and Kate smiled, replying.

“It’s thanks to the successor and the Saint.”

“Sometimes, we need to have an easy win every now and then.”

Following Kate, Vanadain turned his gaze toward the forest.

The thick fog that had been lingering slowly started to dissipate, revealing the hidden buildings.

The stable and tavern mentioned as rewards appeared and a beam of light rose from inside the tavern building.

‘The Round Table Knight’s armament.’

Yoo Seong glanced at Gareth’s golden shield, strapped to his left arm, and took a step toward the tavern.
