Chapter 12
Mollru: Master climbing broadcast
I turned on the broadcast.
Ji-yeon was watching from behind.
It was a burdensome gaze, but there was nothing I could do.
I had to endure it.
Starting from zero, unlike last time when I had already warmed up the game,
this time, as soon as I turned on the stream, people came in.
It was fascinating to see the viewer count rising one by one.
[Hello ^^]
[I thought you’d turn it on soon, but it took you 3 days]
[It took you a while to prepare, huh? Haha;]
[Noona, I’ve been waiting~~~~]
[EOW gal, spring?]
[Why were you late? Why were you late? Why were you late? Why were you late?]
“Hello. It’s been 3 days. I’m a bit taken aback by such a warm welcome; I’m glad to see you too.”
[Why so late?]
“I wasn’t feeling well. I guess I overdid it. Yes, I’m fine now. Thank you for your concern.”
[Noona, don’t die ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ]
[Shouldn’t you rest a bit more?]
[Sweet boyfriends pretending to worry, gross ㅋㅋ]
[You turned it on because you’re okay now, right?]
[What have you been doing for 3 days? What have you been doing for 3 days? What have you been doing for 3 days?]
[It was all just me being serious again, right? It was all just me being serious again, right?]
“You shouldn’t spam. I said it during the first broadcast.”
Seeing the viewers behave as they always did gave me a bit of relief.
It was a bit rough, but this level of chat was something I could show Ji-yeon.
“Wow, how many people are here? Unnie, you’re quite popular, huh?”
[?? Who’s next to you?]
[That’s my sister]
[This person has a nice voice too ^^]
[Ah ㅋㅋ Pretty girls stick together, right? ㅋㅋ]
Just as I thought it would be okay, Ji-yeon approached from behind and spoke.
Naturally, her voice flowed into the mic, and the viewers went wild.
“My sister came over to see my apartment. She said she wanted to watch the broadcast…”
[Mollru’s sister ㄷㄷ Is she also a troublemaker?]
[This is an embarrassing broadcast in front of a king fan]
[Ah ㅋㅋ Everyone tell her to chat nicely]
[Sweet Susu mode on]
[Hello ^^7]
“Hello, Moll…ru is your unnie’s nickname? Why did she make her name like that? I’m Mollu’s sister.”
Ji-yeon, with her bright personality, easily engaged the viewers and responded in the chat.
I could easily imagine Ji-yeon surrounded by friends, just like that.
[Grandma cart buster donated 1000 won!]
– Please turn on the hand cam, teacher.
“Hand cam… I don’t think I’ll be using it in the future.”
I had originally turned it on just to prove that I wasn’t a hacker.
I bought a cheap one to use only once.
Will I even need to use a cam from now on?
Maybe because of the donations, requests for the hand cam started flooding in.
[Hallyboo Moll ㅋㅋㅋㅋ]
[Already getting troublemakers in the room]
[Of course, the host is a troublemaker, so the viewers must be too]
[Please turn on the cam]
[Turn on the hand cam]
[Why? Why? Why? Why?]
[Oh come on, just be satisfied with the voice]
[What an absurd cam]
It was really an unexpected request for a hand cam.
Why would they want to see my hands?
While I quietly watched the escalating chat, Ji-yeon next to me spoke.
“Did you just get a donation?”
“Yeah, someone donated 1000 won.”
“Wow, that’s interesting.”
Everything about the broadcasting system seemed new to her.
“But what’s a hand cam?”
“It’s a camera that shows your hand.”
As I explained the hand cam, Ji-yeon’s expression darkened.
“…Are these people wanting to see your hands?”
“Right? Why would they want to see them? They’re not that special.”
“That’s kind of creepy.”
[Can’t deny that’s the truth]
[I never asked for a hand cam]
[Please say it’s creepy one more time]
[Contempt ㅗㅜㅑ;;]
[Chat level is so low ㅋㅋ]
Ji-yeon’s expression was growing more sour.
If it went on like this, it was clear that people’s perception of the broadcast would take a hit.
I quickly changed the subject.
“Just because my sister is here doesn’t mean I prepared any special content; she’ll just be watching me play the game. You can all just enjoy it as you did in the last broadcast.”
[Just like last time, I got it]
[Everyone just read the atmosphere ^^;]
[Just be comfortable (uncomfortable)]
That was how we decided to proceed with the broadcast.
I thought the viewers understood to some extent, and they wouldn’t type anything uncomfortable for Ji-yeon.
How much control I could exert, I didn’t know.
As I glanced sideways, I saw Ji-yeon’s face lit up, fascinated by the chat rising.
With her chin resting on my shoulder, the hair brushing against me tickled.
Even though I had made a place for her in the chair next to me, she still stood up to lean on my shoulder.
It was as if a cat was trying to show affection.
If she got uncomfortable like that, she would sit back down.
“Then… let’s start the broadcast.”
And thus, the game began.
*
Ji-yeon was worried about Ji-eun.
Not always, but it had been so recently.
Specifically, since ‘that incident’ happened.
Originally, Ji-eun was brighter and more lively than Ji-yeon.
She laughed a lot and had the charm to lead people and gather them around.
She had been responsible enough to take care of young Ji-yeon in place of their busy parents.
Ji-yeon admired and liked Ji-eun.
But then, Ji-eun had drastically changed.
Changed due to some sort of incident.
Ji-eun, who used to love meeting people, no longer wanted to meet anyone.
She lost her laughter and words and began to live in seclusion, whether it was alive or dead, stuck at home.
The doctor named it severe social anxiety.
She also turned her career into web design that could be done from home.
Income might have decreased, but since she didn’t go out, her spending also dropped, so there were no problems.
Thus, Ji-eun, who had lived like a mouse in her room, suddenly left to live on her own, leaving just those words.
Since then, Ji-yeon had frequently visited Ji-eun’s apartment.
Worried about the seemingly precarious unnie who didn’t respond well to messages.
Determined to make her older sister laugh again, Ji-yeon was visiting Ji-eun today as well.
But Ji-eun, whom I hadn’t seen in a while, had changed quite a bit.
The change wasn’t that noticeable.
She still trembled in fear when strangers visited and struggled with conversations, often trailing off.
However, her tone had subtly brightened, and her facial expressions had gained vitality.
Though small, it was a change that couldn’t be ignored, and Ji-yeon was satisfied.
She had a sliver of hope that if things continued like this, they might find the old Ji-eun again.
But surprisingly, Ji-eun’s change didn’t stop there.
Although she didn’t show it, Ji-eun was quite shocked by the scene before her.
“Cut… I could have taken one more, what a pity.”
Look at that.
Her unnie was broadcasting.
While chatting with the viewers perfectly fine.
Once, Ji-eun wouldn’t even say a word to others.
Thus, she had sought a job only possible at home.
I remembered that when she worked as a freelancer, she always communicated through messages.
Now she was casually talking with a myriad of people on the other side of the screen.
Though Ji-eun had no knowledge of the game, just by observing the chat reactions and the gameplay, one could tell she had decent skills.
When I first discovered the mic and cam, I was honestly surprised.
A mic and a cam. Things that seemed utterly incompatible with Ji-eun.
I recognized that they were equipment commonly used by streamers, but I doubted it.
She seemed so far removed from broadcasting.
But what was the situation now?
Could anyone claim she was lacking as a streamer?
Live – 2033.
Two thousand. That’s right, two thousand.
This was Ji-yeon’s first encounter with internet broadcasting.
For someone who only ever watched YouTube, even this number was not insignificant.
She was immensely talented at streaming, accommodating over two thousand viewers, it seemed, Ji-eun was.
[Please turn on the hand cam, 5th time]
Among those two thousand, a few abnormal viewers were visible, yet such a ratio of troublesome people existed in society too.
But even that, Ji-yeon resolved to tell Ji-eun sternly after the broadcast ended.
To definitely penalize any sexually harassing comments.
*
In the early part of the stream, Ji-eun occasionally asked questions, but soon she went silent.
Except when viewers crossed the line with their chats or asked Ji-yeon questions, she didn’t speak at all.
Whenever she had a moment, she would turn around and gaze at the monitor as if watching the game.
It was surprising.
She said she knew about EOW, but I never expected her to take such an interest.
Perhaps she was more intrigued by the broadcasting itself than the game.
The initially burdensome gaze faded once I got into the game, or rather, there was simply no time to care.
As the tier rose and the game level increased, I had no more leisure to spare.
The broadcast ended successfully.
With a three-win streak, I reached Master Tier.
[Mollru! Mollru! Mollru! Mollru! Mollru!]
[Master, you made it look easy! ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ]
[Mollru, the bane of the second-class players]
[It was a foregone conclusion…]
[A woman who easily reached Master like eating ice cream]
The viewers cheered, and Ji-yeon next to me congratulated me.
While I had no clue what Master was, the audiences laughed at how it sounded impressive.
It was getting late.
I waved goodbye to the hands trying to hold onto me and ended the broadcast.
My second stream was different from what I had imagined, but it went well.
Feeling satisfied and stretching, Ji-yeon spoke seriously.
“Unnie, you can’t just let the sexual harassment slide.”
“Huh?”
“From them asking to see your hands to saying your voice is exciting—those kinds of weird messages shouldn’t go unpunished.”
It seemed she had been waiting for the broadcast to end to lecture me on my negligence.
Though I didn’t pay much attention, having a male mindset, it definitely could be discomforting for her.
Her sister was facing harassment from men after all.
Though they were viewers who came to watch me, banning them felt a bit harsh,
When I casually shared my sentiment, Ji-yeon slapped me on the back.
That hurt…
Seems like Ji-yeon has a strong hand.
Despite the pain, I felt good.
Rubbing my sore back, I grinned.
