Chapter 80: The Trouble of Evening Parties
Chapter 80: The Trouble of Evening Parties
“Hey, Aier, next time you want to suck blood, can you please give me a heads-up? When you just bite me out of the blue, it really hurts!”
After Aierjisi had her fill, Yake was holding his neck. In just one day, the Little Princess had already feasted on him twice! And of course, the bites were on his neck, making it all the more painful.
“I’ll think about it.”
Aierjisi wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth with her finger. Despite saying she’d consider it, deep down, Yake was her personal property—her little snack. Who would ask their snack, “Hello, I’m going to eat you now”?
“By the way, you can’t treat Miss Yin like that. She’s been here, guarding your unconscious self alongside me. She’s helped a lot, so how could you be so rude to her?”
Yake continued his lecture at the Little Princess. He was sure that during her time in the Royal Palace, Aierjisi didn’t bother learning any etiquette lessons. Otherwise, how could she say such impolite things?
“That woman was quite annoying, so I just thought I’d get her to leave. What’s wrong with that?”
Aierjisi seemed unfazed by what had just happened. With Yin around, she couldn’t suck Yake’s blood, so she wanted to get rid of her.
“Even if you want someone to leave, you shouldn’t say it like that. You could’ve put it more subtly.”
Yake stubbornly kept educating Aierjisi. As her servant, he had the duty to teach the Little Princess how to communicate with others without ruffling their feathers.
“Ugh… this is such a hassle. Fine, tell me how I should say it, and I’ll listen.”
Aierjisi rubbed her hair in frustration. Yake was so keen on this weird stuff in such a strange setting.
“Okay, listen well. If you want someone to leave, you should say it like this…”
Seeing the Little Princess willing to listen, Yake softened his tone and slowly taught her how to converse with others without provoking them.
Thus, while Yake was teaching the Little Princess how to talk, half an hour slipped by unnoticed.
“See? You got it, right? We’re headed to the evening party soon, and if you keep speaking like before, you’ll surely anger a lot of people!”
Yake waved the invitation letter that Yin had left in front of Aierjisi.
“Yeah. I think I’ve learned how to speak politely.”
Aierjisi nodded, claiming she understood, but in reality, she hadn’t absorbed much of what Yake had said.
“Great! So there’s nothing to worry about. Aier, how about you take a bath first? Even though Miss Yin wiped you down while you were unconscious, it’s better to wash away that awful smell yourself.”
When they crawled out of the dump earlier, both of them had picked up a nasty stench. Yake had already washed off the odor, but Aierjisi, still unconscious, was still reeking.
“Huh? Wait, you could have told me sooner! I only just realized I still smell terrible!”
After Yake mentioned it, Aierjisi sniffed herself and confirmed the unpleasant scent.
“See? I told you. Now hurry up and take a bath. Do you have a change of clothes? If not, I can go buy you a set right now.”
“I certainly have spare clothes! I’m not foolish enough to have only one outfit. Just stay here quietly while I take my bath.”
Aierjisi jumped off the bed and headed into the bathroom, starting the water to cleanse herself. Yake lay bored on the bed, waiting for her to finish.
“An evening party, huh? Will wearing this outfit be too awkward? Maybe it’s best to go buy a suit after all.”
Looking at his black coat, Yake pondered whether he should go to the party in this or buy a brand-new suit.
Before heading out, he and Aier hadn’t considered such formal occasions, so he didn’t own any proper attire. Aier didn’t either.
Half an hour later…
“Ah! I’m done! Yake, come help me with my hair!”
“Coming, coming!”
Upon hearing Aierjisi’s voice, Yake stood up as usual, grabbed a hairdryer from the wormhole, and began to dry and style her hair.
【Bro, I think you’d make a better butler for a noble than an adventurer.】
Reflecting on it, he recalled doing hair for his childhood friend, Xier. She had given him a similar compliment back then.
Maybe he really is more suited to being a butler than an adventurer?
“Yeah… Yake, your hairstyling skills never fail to impress.”
Looking at her hairstyle in the mirror, Aierjisi had a high regard for his hairdressing talent.
“Really? I’m glad you’re happy with it. By the way, Aier, what about the banquet at the City Lord’s Mansion tonight?”
“What about it?”
“I mean, we didn’t prepare for this situation at all and don’t have formal attire for an event like this. Should we buy a suit right now? There should be some available in this city.”
Yake threw the question to the Little Princess for her opinion.
“Yeah, you’re right. We definitely need to buy formal clothes. If we show up in these casual outfits, those damned nobles will definitely mock us.”
Having been forced to attend various banquets since childhood, Aierjisi knew that showing up in casual wear would be a reason for ridicule among the attendees.
“Guess so! Let’s go buy some now. Oh, by the way, are size options available for little girls like you?”
“Of course there are! You underestimate those nobles too much! I’ll have you know noble kids attend parties all the time!”
Aierjisi replied with annoyance. Nobles always took their kids to parties so they could compare their offspring’s accomplishments with others, boosting their own image. Meanwhile, the kids who fell short would be pushed to study more by their noble parents to pull ahead by the next gathering.
