Chapter 67: Your Speed is Just This Much
Chapter 67: Your Speed is Just This Much
“Answer me, why did you hurt these citizens? They have no grudge against you, do they?”
Staring at A Jie not far away, the City Lord questioned him in a deep voice.
“Why would I hurt them? The answer is simple! These guys make me so mad! Every day, us thieves struggle to survive, and there they are, with their nauseatingly happy smiles on their faces! It makes me sick to my stomach! So I just killed them.”
A Jie didn’t bother to explain himself. He just couldn’t stand seeing those happy fools, so he took matters into his own hands. There was nothing more to say.
“I see. You’re one of those antisocial types. I was hoping we could settle this through conversation, but it seems there’s no room for negotiations now.”
The City Lord squinted at A Jie. There’s no need to talk with a sociopathic terrorist! All that was left was to annihilate the opponent with all his might.
“There was never any room for negotiations! I was planning to kill you, the City Lord, from the start, the disgusting ‘happy’ fools were just a bonus!”
The City Lord’s thoughts aligned with A Jie. He had come ready for a life-or-death battle! If he had to live such a lowly life, he’d rather fight the City Lord!
“Oh? Have we met before? Why do you want to kill me?”
Upon hearing A Jie’s words, the City Lord was perplexed. He was a homebody who hardly stepped outside the City Lord’s Mansion, let alone met A Jie. Why would this guy want him dead?
“Hah. City Lord, we indeed haven’t met, but this is your territory, right? Don’t you remember the good deeds you did in the Old District? Or has the City Lord gone senile? If so, I advise you to abdicate before you embarrass yourself further.”
A Jie flashed a mocking grin at the City Lord.
“The Old District. Ah, I see! You’re the thief from there, aren’t you?”
Once A Jie mentioned it, the City Lord recalled. He had indeed sent Yin to clear out the ‘rats’ in the Old District. Given A Jie’s hatred towards him, he was probably one of the stragglers!
“Exactly! We were living just fine, but because of you, my brother and the others were all burned to death by that woman’s flames! So I can’t let you filthy creatures go!”
Recalling the horrific day, A Jie’s emotions surged uncontrollably. The murderer of his brother stood right in front of him—he couldn’t hold back from seeking revenge any longer.
“I see, well if that’s the case, your motive for wanting to kill me is understandable. But young man, like you, I cannot forgive you for killing my lovely citizens, so I shall avenge them!”
The City Lord wasn’t the least bit afraid of A Jie’s wrath. This guy’s anger was just a common man’s rage, not worth paying attention to.
“Then let’s see you try! Attack! Take down that stinking old man!”
“City Lord!”
Yin rushed in front of the City Lord just in time to block the three magical beasts’ assault.
“What can you do alone! We have the advantage in numbers!”
Indeed, as A Jie claimed, Yin alone couldn’t handle them plus three magical beasts.
But the premise was if there were no reinforcements for the City Lord.
“Huh? Did I just hear someone say ‘we have the advantage in numbers’? Yake, did you hear that?”
“Yeah, I heard it too.”
Aierjisi and Yake also launched their attacks to support Yin, restraining the three magical beasts.
“You two! Just right, I’ve been wanting to deal with you! Let’s take you down together!”
Seeing reinforcements on the City Lord’s side, A Jie was about to lose his mind. Moreover, those two reinforcements were also people he found extremely irritating. Angered beyond reason, he joined the battle too.
“Yake, which one do you want to fight?”
Before the battle began, Aierjisi asked Yake which magical beast he’d like to challenge.
“Uh? I’ll take on that Leopard. I can’t handle the Giant, and I can’t hit the Bird.”
After some thought, Yake chose an opponent he felt he could take on.
“Sounds good. What about Miss Yin?”
“I’ll hold off the Giant for now. I can’t deal with that Bird either.”
Just like Yake, Yin also had no way to deal with the flying magical beast.
“Alright then, looks like I have to take care of the Bird.”
With the Giant and Leopard taken, Aierjisi had no choice but to take on the remaining Bird.
“What are you staring at, airport? Haven’t you ever seen such a pretty bird?”
With Aierjisi glaring at it, the Bird felt very uncomfortable. It even mocked her flat chest.
“Wow, this Bird can actually talk? And so fluently?”
Shocked by the fact that the Bird spoke human language, Aierjisi forgot that she should have been angry about the “airport” comment.
“Hehe, how about that? It must be your first time seeing me, right?”
The Bird puffed its chest proudly.
“Eh, Aier, it’s just a talking bird. Nothing to worry about, just take it down.”
“Oh…”
Reminded by Yake, Aierjisi snapped back to reality.
Right, she was supposed to be enemies with this Bird! She needed to take it down, not think of capturing it as a pet!
“What’s up? Are you ready to fight, airport girl? I won’t be scared!”
“You just called me airport, didn’t you?”
Aierjisi didn’t let the term “airport” slide this time. How dare it mock her? Within three days, she’d turn your ashes into dust!
“Aren’t you? Your chest is so flat!”
The Bird tilted its head as if inspecting Aierjisi’s chest area.
“Alright, looks like I’m definitely going to kill you today.”
Aierjisi revealed a terrifying smile, making the Bird feel that the temperature around them had dropped significantly.
“If you can catch me, then go ahead and try!”
The Bird spread its wings and flew into the sky. That little girl definitely couldn’t fly up to where it was!
“Is your speed really this slow?”
Just as the Bird thought Aierjisi could only stare at it from the ground, it suddenly heard such a remark in its ear, causing it to shudder and swiftly fly to the left, glancing back at where it had just been.
Whoa! When did that girl fly up there? And she was even able to keep pace with my speed?!
