I Became a Knockoff Arms Dealer in the Marvel World

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Emergency Recall

Wanda and Pietro, the Maximoff siblings, had found new hope in their lives. They no longer had to live day by day, constantly on edge in a world plagued by war.

Because of this, they gradually let go of their hatred for Tony Stark.

In recent days, Wanda's demeanor had also changed. She was no longer constantly brooding as she had been when she first arrived at the base.

Now, freed from the heavy burden she had carried, Wanda could be described as full of energy every day. She was completely devoted to Carl, her heart entirely his.

Seeing that Wanda seemed a little off, Carl quickly changed the subject, "I heard there's a new movie that's getting rave reviews. Would you two be interested in going to watch it with me?"

Upon hearing Carl's invitation, Ada Wang, dressed in a white, form-fitting outfit that accentuated her slender figure, naturally had no reason to refuse.

Wanda hesitated for a moment. After all the close-combat training, she had worked up a sweat, so she said, "I'll take a quick shower first. Ada, you can come with me."

Wanda then grabbed Ada Wang's hand and led her toward the washroom in the corner of the gym.

Carl, seeing this, followed them with a sly grin, "How about the three of us take a shower together? Water resources are precious."

By the time Wanda and Ada Wang entered the washroom, they immediately closed the door, unwilling to agree to Carl's outrageous suggestion.

"Wait for us for a moment, we'll be done soon! Why did you come in? Get out!"

Ignoring Wanda's objections, Carl used his highest-level clearance to open the door to the washroom.

Soon, the sounds of surprised giggles and laughter filled the room.

In New York, SHIELD Headquarters, Triangular Wing Building

In the Director's office, Nick Fury, dressed in black leather and wearing a black eye patch, sat seriously at his desk, looking at the report from Natasha, the Black Widow.

"Natasha, have you found the source of those Jericho missiles yet?"

Natasha, her fiery red hair in contrast to her tight combat suit, appeared energetic and sharp. Upon hearing her superior's question, she responded with dissatisfaction, "Honestly, if you gave me just a little more time, I would have uncovered the Umbrella Corporation's secrets. But then you issued an emergency recall."

She scowled, "Now it's going to be much harder to infiltrate. The Umbrella Corporation has something shady going on, with their unbelievably cheap weapons, and the origins of many are unclear. I was about to track down the location of their arms depot when you recalled me."

Nick Fury tapped a report Natasha had provided on the desk, cutting off her complaints. "I recalled you because there's a more urgent task. I'll assign the investigation into the Umbrella Corporation to someone else."

He continued, "Put that aside for now. I need you to infiltrate Stark Industries. Our superhero, Iron Man, seems to be having some trouble."

"I need you to get close to him and find out why he's recently donated all of his collectibles and most of his assets to the Boy Scouts, and why he secretly consulted with a notary to prepare a will."

Natasha was momentarily stunned. "A will? He can't be dying, can he?"

Nick Fury stared at her with his lone eye. "That's exactly why I need you to investigate him. Tony might be facing some difficulties. His father was one of SHIELD's founders, and for God's sake, we need to help this playboy."

Natasha stood up decisively and accepted the 'important' mission. "Alright, so you want me to investigate the playboy's potential death. Got it."

Nick Fury muttered under his breath. "He's not dead yet."

As Natasha turned to leave the office, she teasingly said, "From what it looks like, he should be close to dying." With that, she shut the door behind her.

Fury sighed, watching his most elite agent walk out. But he knew that although Natasha could be a bit flippant at times, she was serious when it came to her work.

Looking at the report on the Umbrella Corporation, Fury felt a headache coming on.

"If it weren't for the military's recent defeat in the Middle East, causing the President to lose his temper and vow revenge, I wouldn't be dealing with a weapons dealer's affairs," he muttered to himself. "SHIELD has so many critical tasks every day. Who has time to investigate some smuggling arms group?"

Especially now that SHIELD's satellites had detected a mysterious meteorite falling from the sky, there were enough problems to make even the head of SHIELD feel overwhelmed.

After thinking for a moment, Fury used his office computer to send a command, summoning Clint Barton, the Hawkeye.

Minutes later, the door opened, and Clint walked in, expressionless, dressed in his combat suit. He had been enjoying a vacation at home with his wife and their newborn daughter, but had been urgently recalled by Fury. Needless to say, he wasn't in the best of moods.

Fury seemed oblivious to Clint's black mood and immediately began issuing orders.

"Sorry to interrupt your vacation, Clint. A mysterious meteorite has fallen in New Mexico from outer space. I need you to investigate this."

Clint, clearly irritated, responded, "Now we have to handle meteorites from outer space?"

Fury's face turned serious. "Anything that might endanger world security, we handle."

Clint, tired of hearing Fury's grand speeches, waved dismissively. "Alright, alright, you're the boss. I'll go check out the stone that fell from the sky."

With that, Clint turned and left.

Fury wasn't angry about Clint's gruff attitude. After all, he had interrupted the man's time off.

Once Clint left the office, Fury sent a message to Agent Sharon Carter.

Sharon Carter's aunt, Peggy Carter, had been Captain America's former lover. Sharon had joined SHIELD out of admiration for her aunt, who had overcome many obstacles as a woman to become one of SHIELD's founders.

A few minutes later, Sharon Carter, dressed in her signature ponytail and tactical outfit, walked into the director's office.

Fury's demeanor was completely different with Sharon. He greeted her with a soft smile.

"How's Peggy doing lately?"

Sharon responded seriously, "Director, Aunt Peggy's condition is stable. She only forgets some minor things now and then, but otherwise, she's fine."

"That's good, that's good."

After exchanging pleasantries, Fury handed Sharon the report Natasha had given him.

"This is your next mission: disguise yourself and infiltrate the Umbrella Corporation. We need to find out how they keep supplying so many cheap weapons."
