Chapter 812: The Assault Begins (Part 2)
Particularly since Adela also arrived here.
As the Elf Clan's Great Sage, Adela's strength needs no further explanation.
Besides, Adela personally taking action has another purpose.
The reason Lis hinted at this is because he had his own considerations.
If not for a Divine Power intervention, breaking through [Pastom's Stomach] and attacking the Forbidden Fortress Donovan would be exceedingly difficult.
Moreover, if the attacking forces are too strong, Spider Queen Rose might just take the Dark Elf Legend and the Divine Artifact here away.
If that happens, Lis and the Elf Clan would have launched a futile attack.
Thus, Lis only arranged for a few Legendary Elves to make the Dark Elves feel they still have control over the situation.
That way, the other side won't rush to escape.
At the same time, when the Legendary Elves attack, it will draw the attention of the Dark Elves.
This gives Lis's Life Avatar a better chance to secretly seize [Sasdom's Stomach].
This is precisely why Lis did not choose to collaborate with the Pan-Continent Mage Association's Legends.
In fact, another of his Avatars is waiting in a nearby dungeon passage to prevent other Legendary Mages exploring the dungeon from barging in recklessly.
Before attacking the Forbidden Fortress Donovan, Lis did not wish for the Legends of the Association to know about the situation here.
After a brief introduction, Adela looked at Lis and said:
"Lis, although you've told us about the situation here, according to the previous plan, you should assign us our tasks!"
"All right."
Lis did not hesitate and said directly:
"Not far from here is the location of the Forbidden Fortress Donovan."
"However, because of that Divine Artifact, all roads leading to the Forbidden Fortress are sealed."
"With that artifact [Pastom's Stomach] present, I assume they won't leave directly but will first fight us to assess the situation."
"I will attempt to lift the seal of the artifact in secret."
"Therefore, breaching the artifact's seal to alert those Dark Elves will be your task."
"Adela and I will hide first and reappear when the time is right."
Lis said, looking at the Legendary Elves behind Adela.
"No problem."
The Legendary Elves had no objections or other thoughts.
Elves have always been quite hostile towards Dark Elves.
The fall of Spider Queen Rose once brought tremendous harm to the Elf Clan.
It could even be said that since then, the Elf Clan has been in decline, never regaining its former glory.
"Time is of the essence, let's start now!"
Lis nodded and led the way deeper into the Underground City.
...
Forbidden Fortress Donovan, Spider Heart Temple,
Spine stood quietly, her eyes fixed on a figure almost entirely covered by webs in front of her.
Bren's condition was too dire at this moment.
Most of his body was tightly wrapped in webs, with only a small amount of skin on his face exposed.
The exposed skin was as black as thick ink, exuding infinite eeriness and deathly stillness.
However, within this seemingly lifeless body, deep in his heart, stubbornly lingered a faint glimmer of magical power.
This glimmer was weak, yet like a flickering candle in the wind, defiantly emitting strength.
It continuously operated, with an indomitable stance, trying with all its might to resist the relentless erosion of Spider Queen Rose's powerful and evil forces.
It seemed like a fortress holding on to the last hope in the darkness, preventing the evil forces from completely devouring it.
Spine looked at the figure of Bren in front of her with some irritation.
She never expected Bren to hold out this long under Divine Power's erosion!
But now it seemed this was his last breath.
Being able to control Bren was of extraordinary significance to Spine.
At that moment, a sudden intense tremor came from afar, sweeping the entire fortress.
"What's happening?"
Spine's face changed dramatically.
This place was supposed to be protected by the Divine Artifact, how could it be under attack?
Has the Forbidden Fortress Donovan been discovered?
From the looks of this situation, it must be the work of a Legend.
Although Spine was able to temporarily use the Divine Artifact [Pastom's Stomach], she didn't possess control over it.
So, Spine couldn't sense the attackers through the Divine Artifact.
She had to go check the situation!
Spine glanced at Bren, then made up her mind.
Even though it was under attack, with [Pastom's Stomach], Donovan was still safe for now.
She left a Dark Elf Legend guarding the Spider Heart Temple, watching over Bren.
Spine took along two other Dark Elf Legends to head in the direction of the attack.
...
Outside the seal of [Pastom's Stomach],
Kelly shone like the brightest star in the night sky, her magical power radiating a majestic glow.
Her figure was graceful, every gesture hiding immense strength.
She raised both hands slowly, her slender fingers dancing gracefully in the air, as if playing a mysterious and potent symphony.
As her fingers moved, the space around her began to undergo wondrous changes.
In the once dark underground passage, countless streams of silvery moonlight were drawn toward her like threads.
These moonbeams quickly coalesced around her, initially just scintillating points of light, but then gradually gathering into countless arrows radiating an icy and sharp aura.
Each arrow emitted a cold radiance, with the blessing of the moon flowing across its shaft.
The previously tranquil moonlight now resembled blades from another world, wielding unimaginable power and pressure.
In an instant, these formed arrows shot like loosed strings into the dark depths of the underground passage ahead.
They sliced through the air, producing sharp whistling cries, as if whispering the Death God's tale.
Yet, as they reached the passage, they seemed to strike an invisible yet indestructible wall despite no apparent obstacles ahead.
The collision of the arrows with this unseen barrier did not create the expected intense shattering sound but instead fell into an eerie silence.
Then, something even more astonishing occurred.
The arrows did not shatter and vanish as normal attacks would, but instead were devoured by something mysterious and grotesque, resembling creeping muscle.
They slowly sank into the invisible barrier, eventually disappearing from sight.
Meanwhile, in front of the Legendary Elf Mage Kelly, the Legendary Elf Carlton stood like a moving mountain, exuding an aura of imposing majesty.
He gripped a massive golden giant shield in his hand, shimmering with brilliant light, as if forged from the fragments of the sun.
Carlton roared, his voice ringing loud as a great bell, making the air around him tremble.
At this moment, he no longer exuded any of the grace typical of a Sun Elf but rather the fierce strength of a Beastman!
He swung the giant gilded shield with great force, slamming it fiercely into the air in front.
Boom!!!
With the shield's descent, a dull resonance rang out, seeming like the earth was issuing a pained groan.
The massive tremor rippled outward like waves, warping and distorting the air in its path.
Meanwhile, Wendy and Jonathan didn't act but remained vigilant, surveying the surroundings for any Dark Elf assaults.
Under the assault by Kelly and Carlton, the surrounding underground passage couldn't withstand the shock waves and began to crumble, yet the invisible wall ahead seemed unbudged.
It was at that moment that Spine appeared in the underground passage beyond the invisible wall.
Seeing the several Legendary Elves before her, Spine's expression turned extremely sour.
What is this situation?
She had assumed the attackers would be Legendary Mages from the Pan-Continent Mage Association.
If so, she would have an excuse to deal with and delay them.
But how did these despicable elves end up here?
And there were four of them!
Could it be that the Elf Clan has already focused their attention on Donovan?!
