I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means

Chapter 699: The Eerie Kent Holden

Lonely Mountain City, deep within the Dwarf Mine,

Lis and the others entered this Shadow Space.

This Shadow Space before them was indeed somewhat peculiar.

For instance, the countless empty holes in front of them.

It seemed as if these holes were not just spaces dug out of the rock but were gateways to another dimension, and behind each portal lurked several Shadow Monsters.

In this entire space with Lis and the others, it seemed like a living entity, nurturing these Shadow Monsters at a slow yet steady rhythm.

They were like evil flowers growing from the dark soil, absorbing the cold and despair deep within the earth.

Faced with such anomalies, Lis and the others heightened their alertness, watching their surroundings cautiously.

But at this moment, a voice suddenly echoed from the space in front of them.

"Welcome, to my Shadow Nest!"

What?!

Lis was somewhat surprised and abruptly lifted his head.

Yet this voice seemed to be coming from everywhere in this Shadow Space before them.

Lis couldn't determine the voice's location through it at all.

The two people beside Lis, Kelleb took out a black and red Holy Scripture and spread it open in his hand.

Besides taking out a Golden Magic Wand, around Philip appeared three Alchemy Demon Statues that looked exactly like Elves.

As soon as these three Alchemy Demon Statues appeared, they guarded Philip nimbly, their eyes warily observing the surroundings.

Lis had confronted Philip before, but he hadn't seen Philip use this special type of Alchemy Demon Statue.

Since Philip chose to use them now, then these three Alchemy Demon Statues must be Philip's trump card.

However...

Lis turned his gaze back to the Shadow Space in front of him.

The most important thing was this Shadow Space before them.

Is its real name the Shadow Nest?

Lis had some guesses in mind.

It seems that the previous speculations weren't wrong; these Shadow Monsters should be being nurtured in this Shadow Nest.

Though he didn't know how these Evil God believers managed it, this Shadow Nest in front was very likely connected to the Shadow Plane.

And yet, it was undiscovered by the people of the Dwarf Temple.

This was indeed somewhat ridiculous.

It was almost equivalent to letting the enemy build an army-raising factory right under their noses.

Most importantly, though Lis heard those Evil God believers' voices, he still couldn't detect the opponent's aura.

Undoubtedly, being able to pull off such a large-scale undertaking, this hidden Evil God believer must be a Legendary Level existence.

But even so, Lis and the others hadn't found the opponent's location, which obviously put them at a disadvantage from the start.

"My guests, why so tense?"

The voice echoed again, laced with a mocking laughter.

"Let me see who the guests are this time?"

"Oh my, isn't this the under the crown of the Jade City's [Hand of All Power] Philip Scalera?"

"It's truly an honor for me to have you here!"

"This one looks a bit unfamiliar, but that disgusting aura of slaughter, are you a strong one from the War God Church?"

"Dear me, I just wanted to take care of my little ones here, why on earth did even the War God Church come knocking?"

After the words fell, the voice paused for a moment, then rang out even louder.

"Oh dear! Truly didn't expect the Shadow Nest to receive such distinguished guests!"

"Such strong and noble aura of Life and Nature, it almost makes me sick to my stomach!"

"To have such an aura, I suppose you must be the World Tree Favored, Lis Kain?"

"Truly didn't expect to see you appear in Lonely Mountain City!"

"Had I known earlier, I would've visited you in advance!"

Although the words of this voice seemed very respectful in choice of words, Lis sensed an intense feeling of loathing and madness.

In an instant, Lis felt the deep malice emanating from the Shadow Space before him, as if the gaping Abyss was ready to swallow him whole.

"Indeed, after all, the followers of the [Shadow King] are like this, always enjoying these little tricks in the dark corners."

Lis shook his head and said with a smile:

"Even if you've broken through to the Legendary, you don't dare to meet people."

"You timid fellows can always only hide in the shadows."

"Haha, meaningless taunt."

The voice appeared again, but this time, it was even more gloomy than before.

As if holding back rage.

"Try finding me first!"

"In my Shadow Nest, forever be immersed in the power of the shadows!"

Upon hearing this, Lis slightly furrowed his brows.

While the other side was speaking, Lis spread his spiritual power to search for traces of the opponent.

But found nothing.

It's truly strange, who exactly is this person?

By what means is he hiding?

While Lis pondered, the Shadow Nest before him suddenly started to tremble, and a very powerful energy fluctuation resonated through the space.

Seeing this, Kelleb and Philip behind Lis stepped forward voluntarily.

The black and red Holy Scripture in Kelleb's hand suddenly started flipping through pages rapidly, and finally stopped at a page after turning through most of the book.

The page stood alone in the Holy Scripture, and it faintly showed a picture of a brutal battlefield depicted on it.
