Chapter 11: Awkward atmosphere

“I go into the bath with Fen. Please take care of that one.”

I pointed at Sam, who was sitting on my sofa like one of these living statues. Desmond sat next to him, wanting to hide his embarrassment, but unlike Sam, Desmond was mentally present.

I left the living room and got a towel and my only second set of clothes, my Armor out of SW.

“Come on!”

I called Fen as I walked through the living room to the bathroom. He was lying in the kitchen area, and when he heard my call, he jumped up and ran to me. I held the door open for him, and he immediately ran into the bathroom. I followed him, and while I was closing the doors, I said a few last words to Desmond.

“Desmond, if you want to stay for dinner, you just have to restart Sam and together go shopping.”

With these words, I closed the door and locked it.

We are not in an ecchi harem story where the protagonist bursts into the bathroom!

The chance was there, but only if Sam was the protagonist because Desmond knew that I was in the bathroom. If he enters the bathroom, it makes him a typical pervert.

Haa!

Fen and I had a quiet bath when someone knocked on the door.

* knock * * knock * * knock *

“Yes?”

I answered.

“Mr. Spiritless is waking up from his dreamland.”

That was the keyword for me. I wanted to know what Sam could remember. After all, he had been awake all the time, but mentally not up to par.

I got out of the tub and dried myself with a towel. Then I drained Fen’s fur, and afterward, I put on my clothes.

I opened the door and saw two pairs of eyes staring at me. Sam was there again, and his face immediately turned red like a tomato when he saw me coming out of the bathroom.

“What’s up?”

I asked the two and sat on the armchair. Desmond looked lost, and Sam seemed too nervous.

“Is this a one-man-show or conversation? We can also keep silent!?”

I was annoyed by this constant hesitation of both of them.

“So... who are you?”

Sam started talking, but I wasn’t expecting this question. I also didn’t know what he was referring to, had he forgotten us, or did he want to see if we belonged to any organization?

“We are aliens, don’t you see that?”

I made an E.T. movement with the finger.

“Sure, and I’m a professional soccer player. Seriously now, who are you and where am I?”

He looked confused.

“This is my apartment.”

I answered and continued with a counter-question.

“What’s the last thing you can remember?”

He thought…

“So... today is Monday?”

We nodded.

“Then I know until the second break. Now that we’re at it, do we know each other?”

He looked at me with hopeful eyes.

“You like women with red hair, I know.”

He looked surprised, but I continued unimpressed.

“And yes, I was the girl from the supermarket. My name is Siana, Sam. I am new to the class that has physical education at the same time as your class. The dog here is called Fen.”

I introduced Fen and myself again and summarized the most important things.

“This is Desmond. He’s just a useless accessory.”

I added at the end and pointed to Desmond.

“WAH!?”

Desmond cried out at my comment.

“That is not true! I am a friend of Siana. A friend, ok!?”

He was visibly disappointed, but I couldn’t help but laugh at his reaction.

I looked at the clock and saw that it was ready late afternoon.

I should do something for Fen and me...

“Uhm… what about food? I said it to Desmond earlier, but if you want to eat, someone has to go shopping.”

I looked at them. Desmond answered first.

“I have no one waiting at home, so eating together wouldn’t be that bad.”

Sam nodded in agreement.

“There is nobody at home, so...”

I nodded to their answers and got up. I looked at the contents of my fridge.

“Hmm... That... Or That... Ah!...”

I sat up and turned to face them.

“Go and buy bacon, as well as cream, milk, and butter. I’m going to start making Fen’s food and boil noodles.”

Desmond looked confused.

“What do you want to make?”

I looked at him blankly.

“Ah, I’m making a pasta bake.”

I first had to realize that I hadn’t told them what I wanted to cook. When I replied, Desmond nodded and stood up. Sam’s eyes rested on me for a moment before he got up too. He said nothing and accepted it that way. Both were at the front door when I called something after.

“Sam, the supermarket where we first met is not far from here.”

He nodded and left the apartment with Desmond.

“Phew! First of all, they’re gone. Fen, stay guard! I go and clean my other clothes... Sam looked at me strangely because of my current outfit.”

I gave Fen some dry food and hurried into the bathroom. I took out the wet clothes that were soaked in blood.

Hmm... with a blow dryer, it will take too long... Siana’s magic, my magic would be most efficient, but I have never tried to use wind or fire magic.

I just started trying everything out, because I managed to create a little flame and a gentle swirl at my first try. It took me several attempts, but it didn’t take over 20 Minutes. I created a warm wind that dried my clothes in no time. I put the old clothes back on and only slightly changed their design and color.

The noodles were cooked, and Fen got his food when there was a knock on the door. I opened it and found Sam, who was carrying a huge bag, and Desmond, who was glaring at him.

“What’s happening?”

I asked these two.

“Someone forgot his wallet and made me pay for everything.”

Sam makes an “I’m sorry”-face.

I frowned and looked at the much too big bag.

“What did you actually buy? Such a big bag for things?”

Sam looked at Desmond and Desmond at him.

What’s wrong with them?

“Let me see!”

I snatched the bag from Sam’s hands and looked inside.

...Wow! Do you mean this seriously!?

“Why did you buy cans of a beer!? It’s Monday!? And you are minor! You shouldn’t drink alcohol for no reason.”1Beer and wine can be bought at the age of 16.

Both looked at me in confusion.

“You are…”

Desmond no longer said.

“Like a mother ...”

Sam finished Desmond’s sentence.

“I’m not like a mother!? I’m just not a child like you two.”

It hurt to be called a mother. I gave Sam the bag back in my hand.

“Put everything in the fridge.”

I said in an angry but low voice. Desmond wanted to follow him, but I stopped him.

“That was your idea, am I right?”

He looked away from me and didn’t want to look into my eyes.

“I... I don’t know what you mean. I also assumed that...”

He fell silent.

“You assumed that?”

I repeated his last words.

“I assumed it was common in your world to drink alcohol at fourteen or fifteen, if not earlier.”

I grabbed his chin with one hand and turned his head so that he had to look at me.

“Next time, you ask!”

I was angry, maybe I overreacted, but was it too difficult to ask beforehand? I let go of him and went back to the kitchen area and watched Sam putting the things in the fridge.

“Sam, you can give me that.”

He was just getting the bacon out of the bag. I took the bacon off him and put it aside. I took out the baking dish and prepared everything I needed for the pasta bake. Sam finished unpacking and set the bag aside.

“Sam, you can sit down, I’d rather cook alone.”

I didn’t want anyone near me and wanted to be alone.
