I am the Emperor of Humanity across the Multiverse

Chapter 222: Chapter 221: "Atlas Welcomes You, Dr. Halsey"

"Two... One."

As the broadcast's countdown ended, the "water sphere" instantly expanded and completely enveloped the bewildered Halsey.

Whoosh—!

The "water sphere" was then absorbed into the round device in the center of the hall, transforming into a brilliant white light before disappearing entirely from the view of Leon, Ada, and the surrounding technicians.

At the same time.

From Halsey's perspective, it felt as if she had been pulled into the vast emptiness of deep space, with everything around her rushing past at incredible speed.

But in the blink of an eye, she returned to "real space," finding herself in another hall filled with technicians.

"Ugh!"

The intense nausea in her stomach overwhelmed her, and Halsey couldn't help but bend over and vomit.

Though she was a bit of a recluse and had little interest in regular social interactions, losing her composure in front of so many strangers—especially those who had kidnapped her and used unknown technology to transport her—filled Halsey with a deep sense of shame.

"Take a deep breath. Nausea and dizziness are normal."

A female researcher with waist-length blonde hair, wearing a white lab coat and black stockings, approached the still handcuffed Halsey with a slightly amused tone.

"Even elite soldiers experience what you're going through, so relax," the researcher continued.

Coughing a few times, Halsey took almost half a minute to compose herself before straightening up and wiping the saliva from the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand.

It was only then that she began to take in her surroundings.

The red-and-white "Λ" logos everywhere, the guards equipped with gear and weapons far more advanced than anything UNSC or ONI had, and the researcher in front of her, who looked only about eight or nine years older than herself.

"Who exactly are you people?" Halsey asked.

"Alexia Ashford," the researcher introduced herself. She had been about to personally remove Halsey's restraints but decided against it, recalling how Halsey had just wiped her mouth.

Alexia then started walking toward the exit of the hall, her back to Halsey, as she said:

"Please follow me, Dr. Halsey. Before you meet my boss, I'll be explaining some of Atlas' principles and achievements to you."

She then turned to the armed security nearby and instructed:

"Lieutenant, release Dr. Halsey. From now on, she is a guest of Atlas, and in the future, she will be our colleague."

"Yes, ma'am," the guard replied, pulling out a knife to cut the plastic restraints.

"Atlas?" Halsey muttered, rubbing her wrists, which were red from the tightness of the bindings. She followed Alexia and the security guards out of the teleportation hall.

The group took an elevator up to an air corridor, heading toward a nearby command building.

From there, Halsey had a clear view of the Atlas forward base on Harvest.

She saw a shipyard with Paris-class frigates under construction, a semi-open 3D printing facility, and other impressive structures. These sights astonished the young genius doctor.

Halsey hadn't expected that this well-equipped group, calling themselves Atlas, could have advanced 3D printing and robotics to such an extreme degree.

But something about the weapons, gear, and the various vehicles flying overhead gave her a feeling of otherworldliness—as if these rebels didn't belong to this universe.

"Dr. Halsey," Alexia called out as they walked, handing Halsey an ultra-thin folding screen tablet. "Atlas is a trans-multiversal military-industrial complex dedicated to ensuring humanity's long-term survival and prosperity in the cosmos.

"Yes, you heard that correctly—multiversal. Don't be shocked. All the relevant information is on the tablet. Feel free to ask me any questions after you've gone through it."

Caught off guard by Alexia's preemptive explanation, Halsey took a deep breath, unfolded the tablet, and began to browse through files titled "Relic Base," "Owner: Samuel Young," and "Threats Facing Universe 08 (Halo)."

"Dimensional Gates... A nearly 200-year-old boss... Entire battalions of super-soldiers?"

These revelations were beyond Halsey's wildest imagination.

While she had long suspected that the "parallel universe" or "multiverse" theories might be true, she had no idea how to prove them—at least not yet.

But the founder of Atlas, a man named Samuel Young, had somehow unlocked the ability to open gates between different universes. This was something that piqued Halsey's curiosity, so much so that she felt an urge to study Samuel, perhaps even dissect his brain, to uncover the secrets behind this ability.

Of course, that was only a fantasy.

Given the well-trained guards escorting her and the highly efficient, orderly base, Halsey understood the level of respect and authority Samuel held within Atlas, especially given his advanced age. If she ever shared her thoughts, Alexia and the nearby guards would likely execute her on the spot.

After a moment of silence, they arrived at the entrance to the command building. As they prepared to take the elevator to the top floor, Halsey handed the tablet back to Alexia.

"I've finished reading it. Based on the information you've provided, I believe your boss has some kind of ability to foresee the future. How else would he know about my existence, or the Covenant, which even the UNSC has yet to detect?"

"Perhaps," Alexia didn't deny the possibility.

When they reached the top floor and stood outside the office, Alexia glanced at Halsey up and down, particularly noting her "dimensions" before smiling and saying, "Our boss is inside."

"Okay," Halsey replied, uninterested in Alexia's scrutinizing gaze. Emotions like attraction or rivalry meant little to her. She found research in her lab far more compelling than typical human relationships.

Whoosh—

As the automatic door slid open—

Halsey's calm expression changed instantly to one of shock.

Standing to the right of the office, holding a massive frost hammer and clad in powered armor that stood about 3.6 to 3.7 meters tall, was a Vulcan, staring down at her.

A giant?

Halsey was momentarily stunned.

"Dr. Halsey," came a voice from the desk.

Sitting behind the desk, with his elbows resting on it and his fingers interlocked, Samuel Young smiled at Halsey, who had just been startled by the Vulcan, and said:

"Atlas welcomes you. But before you officially start your work, you need to understand the current situation."

As he spoke, Samuel's eyes glowed with a golden light, and he used psychic energy to transmit a wealth of detailed information and project details directly into Halsey's mind.
