As the glowing texts flickered out, a low, grinding rumble echoed across the cavern.

Dust trickled from the ceiling.

"What the hell was that? What does that mean?"

Kai muttered to himself.

And then—

New eyes opened in the darkness.

Deeper in the chamber.

Six of them. Not red.

But deep violet.

Shapes began to emerge. Larger. Meaner.

Kai froze. His face paled.

"…Fuck me."

From the shadows stepped three new beasts, sleek, muscular, armored with natural plating across their bodies.

Their eyes glowed with unnatural intelligence. They weren't just stronger, they had evolved.

And they weren't alone.

Two smaller, quadrupedal ones flanked the bigger ones. Fast. Agile. With venom glistening on their fangs.

Another six total.

Kai pushed off the ground, pain flaring through his ribs.

He didn't hesitate and took potion from his storage bracelet and threw it to Vael, who caught it mid-air with his beak and drank quickly.

Kai downed one himself, ignoring the bitter taste. Warmth flooded his limbs, easing the worst of the damage, but not fully. Not nearly enough.

He muttered under his breath.

"Fuck the ruins… I don't wanna die here."

Then he extended his palm and hissed—

"Come, Stromeon."

The ground beneath him pulsed with azure light.

A magic circle etched itself into the stone, crackling with electric sparks.

Then. with a thunderous snap, a creature leapt forth.

Stromeon.

His thunder draklet who had the size of a large war hound, his sleek blue scales shimmered like polished sapphire.

Sparks danced across his body, his tail crackling with electricity as he growled deeply, nostrils flaring.

Kai's hand dropped to his twin daggers.

He inhaled.And then the horde came.

Battle Started.

The beasts rushed forward, two at the front, low to the ground, zigzagging like snakes.

The big one stalked behind, jaws snapping with metallic teeth.

[<Ghost Steps!>]

Kai vanished, leaving only footprints on the stone.

Reappeared behind the closest beast, and slashed across its hind leg.

But its hide was tougher than expected.

His blade barely cut deep enough.

It kicked back—

Caught him across the chest.

He grunted and flew back, tumbling across the floor.

Vael screamed overhead, flapping hard and casting an Echo Ball.

The sonic pulse hit the incoming flankers, but only slowed them.

Kai barely had time to recover when Stromeon leapt in, intercepting the pouncing beast with a deafening—

[<Thunder Roar!>]

The sound cracked through the ruins, paralyzing two of the smaller beasts mid-air. One dropped, stunned.

"Thanks," Kai muttered, eyes sharp.

He spun his daggers and lunged again, this time aiming for the downed one.

[<Phantom Slash!>]

His blades blurred, slashing in a rapid X across its throat.

Dead.One down.

But another was already on him.

Kai jumped back.

Too slow.

It tackled him.

Claws dug into his shoulder. Fangs snapped inches from his throat.

Then—

BOOM!

The ground beneath them exploded as Stromeon slammed down beside them with a—

[<Groundbreaker Slam!>]

Shockwaves cracked the floor. The beast was thrown off, limbs twitching.

Kai rolled free, panting.

"Okay, Stromeon. You're my favorite now."

Stromeon huffed proudly, electricity building around him.

Then the alpha beast, massive one from them, with horns and plated bone across its chest.

Charged at Vael.

The falcon dodged once, then again, but his wingbeat faltered, too damaged.

The alpha leapt again—

"VAEL, DIVE!"

Vael tucked his wings and dropped just as the beast passed overhead.

[<Sonic Dive!>]

He twisted mid-air and slammed into the beast's side. It staggered, but not much. Barely scratched.

Vael screeched. He couldn't hold long.

Stromeon snarled, lowered his head, and launched forward with a brutal—

[<Thunder Clap!>]

CRACK!

A burst of lightning engulfed the alpha. It screamed, convulsing, smoke rising from its armor.

Kai moved in with the opening.

[<Ghost Steps!>]

He blinked behind the staggering alpha.

[<Warding Veil!>]

His form shimmered with a thin barrier of shadows.

He leapt and stabbed both daggers into the side of its neck.

It roared and thrashed, smashing him into the wall.

The barrier held for a moment but the cracked.

Vael dove to cover him.

[<Wind Fang!>]

Slicing across a charging enemy's face and forcing it to halt.

Stromeon intercepted again, taking on two at once now.

His scales tanked their strikes, lightning exploding off him in bursts. He turned, tail lashing, then roared and summoned a spreading—

[<Static Field!>]

Electricity flooded the nearby area.

Both enemies locked with him froze in place, bodies stiff with overload.

He followed with another Thunderclap, obliterating one and sending the other flying into the wall.

"Good boy," Kai wheezed, blood in his mouth, ribs screaming.

He coughed and flipped a knife into his hand.

Spotted a beast circling Vael.

He hurled it—

CRACK!

Straight into its eye.

It squealed and dropped.

Two left.

The alpha wasn't dead yet.Bleeding heavily.

Limbs twitching.

But still standing.

It stared at Kai with fury.

Then—

It charged.

"Come on, then," Kai whispered.

He braced.

It lunged.

And Kai shouted—

"NOW!"

Stromeon tackled the beast mid-leap.

Kai leapt as well.

He activated—

[<Falcon's Sight!>]

His vision slowed. Every motion sharpened. He saw the path, the weak point.

He twisted mid-air.

And drove both blades into the alpha's exposed chest, right between the bone plates.

Deep. Hard. Twisting.

The alpha roared once. Loud.

Then dropped.

Silence.

Thud!

Kai dropped to his knees, panting.

Stromeon padded over and sat beside him, crackling with faint lightning, like a loyal statue.

Vael landed weakly on his shoulder, feathers frayed, chest rising fast.

Kai looked at the two of them.

Then leaned back and whispered—

"…someone better give me a damn medal after this."

But then as he was about to lay down.

A chime resonated again.

[Final Test: Completed]

[Evaluation: Excel—$#&##$]

Before the texts could fully form.

They began buzzing.

[Trial of Fangs: Completed]

"Huh?" Kai's eyes widened.

[Evaluation: Good]

"Again."

Just before he could make any speculations, a familiar blue panel popped in front of him.

[<Be careful boy.>]

Kai blinked.

[Final Test: Commence]

[<It's a Pseudo-Dungeon.>]
